          To WngC618:

If my memory serves me correctly- you don't even live here anyore. Your silly and insane rants are rendered mute.

Second and most important, why is this even a story?

              remleomike,

There are numerous ambassadors and members of the U.S. military and armed forces who do not live in the U.S. There are numerous citzens working around the globe and living in other countries. This distinction makes them no less American than any other American.

As for your question: the reason I chose to highlight this particular story is precisely because of your question, which is the same one I had when I saw this popping up everywhere. Why do we gravitate towards this type of anecdote as news? One could argue, I suppose, that it was inappropriate behavior given the occasion and surroundings; but he wasn't speaking to the group at large. He was speaking to his friend, Blair. It is a rarely seen view of the President with his gaurd down.

But what does everyone else think? Is this newsworthy and if not what's gone wrong with the news?

Actully GW is right...again. Hezbollah and other terrorists should stop this SH** before we get really mad. Just look at what Israel is doing now that they are mad. Now think of a billion times that...........cool

Bush is only human...so the use of the word is no big deal. Lets face it with his 'Cowboy' image he could have said something a lot worse that could have set the middle east on fire for sure.

                      To remleomike:

                      Just for the record:

WngC618 may be silly and insane but they are clearly not mute. Further, the fact that WngC618 doesn´t live in CONUS is irrelevant.

To answer the second part, it´s a story because anytime the President speaks in public (knowlingly or otherwise) it´s a story.

For the record, I happen to agree with Bush as far as these comments go, strong language and all. At least he can see far enough to understand that Syria´s backing of Hezbollah has made the recent attacks possible. It is an unfortunate fact that the Lebanese government is unable to control groups like this within their own borders. All this said, I am surprised by the subdued reaction of most of the regional powers. Good on them for keeping out of it.

I would rather hear him say "stop this s***' than to say "bring it on". The media needs to grow up as well cease being hypocrites(did I spell that right?) Sometimes (more often than not) the media takes on the role of the school yard instigator rather than informer of news. Edward R. Murrow, Eric Sevarind, Walter Conkrite, Huntley & Brinkley, those were newsman with class and dignity. Sometimes it seems like every part of our society has slipped into the lowest denominator of civilized behavior.

The last few days has produced such extreme, venomous, hate filled diatribe on both sides of this issue. It makes me both understand the state of mind of all parties in the middle east as well as gives no hope for positive resolution. How brave we are with others people's lives.

Shame on every person who has brought their hate to this forum.

                            To picador:

I appreciate your take on this but would like to point out something very important: groups like Hamas and Hezbollah are very real and very bent on the annhilation of a sovereign state. American conspiracy or no, these groups are a problem for everyone in the region and should be recognized as such. To reiterate, I am content in the knowledge that the whole US Med Fleet isn´t sitting off the coast in a provocative manner. Let no one be fooled however; if the US military wanted to engage someone in the vicinity it could happen within minutes.

This said, it´s a smart move to keep a low profile regarding this conflict.

As the person who submitted this story early this morning, I have one quick point.

I submitted it more for its humor and the way it painted the President as being 'Human' than its so called 'News' value. for that reason the story was placed in the 'Politics' channel vs. the 'News' channel. As C.K. mentioned it is obvously getting a great deal of attention not only here but the cable news outlets as well. In the end I hope that the Nation's focus is on ending the crisis in the middle east and not on our President using a simple 4 letter word.

Vocabulary has never been his strong point!!! What about his educational reforms--- no child left behind--- I guess maybe he should apply!!!!

Wow - he used the 'S' word. I'm sure he could have, and probably does use, a lot worse.

The English think the word 'Bloody', is a swear word.

I've used the German equivalent to the 'S' word, until I was in an area of a large German contingent. Then I tried the Portuguese equivalent, until the same thing happened. Now I have trained myself to say shazam. Keeps me out of trouble.

I think that Bush needs to be removed from office, Why, Well because I really dont' think that we should have went over there. It is none of our business. What about the high gas prices? What about all the homeless people in this country has he done anything about that? NO!! He dont' care about the people in this country, He is an OIL MAN!!!!! That is all he thinks about. Another thing and I have proof of this. Mr. Bush never spent and time in the service. Why? Well because his family paied to keep him out of harms way. Do you really think that if he had boys that thay would be over there fighting woth the others? NO!! Thay would be home safe. So all of your people that support Bush are brainwashed. Bush was never an honest man. He cheated to get into office because of his brother Jeb Bush fixed the votes in Florida but people dont' think that could happen. well it did. This time it happened in Ohio. That is how he got in office again. He is a cheat and a lier in my book.
