Aug. 28, 2006, 11:25 a.m.Yay, good thing for the US we have the great lakes! the largest mass of fresh water in the world....
.......O wait, nm the government allowed corporations like B&L, Xerox, and Kodak and others to pollute these lakes beyond repair.

Aug. 28, 2006, 12:08 p.m.If valid, this puts Canada in a difficult position. On the one hand with the world's largest supply of clean, fresh (potable) water and an almost constant resupply from ice, snow and rain - Canada stands to become one of the wealthiest nations in the world. On the other hand, because is right next door to the already wealthiest nation, chances are better that its water resources will simply be bought up by U.S. bottlers. A slightly less likely but still possible scenario, is the country itself will simply be taken over and become the 51st state.

Aug. 28, 2006, 12:39 p.m.Water shortage is a problem stemming from over population which is causing hundreds of more problems around the planet.
Unless humans figure out how to live on another planet we are doomed but fear not if we can control the population then all is better. Nature conflict diseases and meds are ways of controlling populations.

Aug. 28, 2006, 12:54 p.m.Like most problems of this nature, this one will solve itself eventually. Water, being absolutely necessary for life, IS worth fighting over. Unlike oil and the carbon cycle however, the water cycle is pretty short. It shouldn't take all that long for a bunch of people in water-mismanaged areas to die back to a sustainable level. Also, as George has repeatedly said: DON'T LIVE IN THE DESERT!
