Okay, so this is the first war in American history where you need a theater program to explain it. Let's see if we can get it straight:We went to war to fight the Taliban who harbored the 9/11 al Qaeda terrorists. But then we shifted the war to Iraq, because they had WMD's which posed an imminent threat to the United States.

Let's give credit or lack of to Clinton. He has had 9 YEARS to do something about bin Laden, but did nothing but bomb an ASPIRIN factory. The USS COLE was on his watch... but did nothing not to mention all the other embassy bombings, killing our people. When you start a job that is totally alien to you.... there is a transition period. It's impossible to walk into a new job and start throwing bombs around, especially when the one who previously had that President's seat RESENTED you from the start. They will hide important information hoping you will make many mistakes. Lets give credit where it is due ---- the fault lies with CLINTON and his lesser HALF.

Help me out here CodeNameHawk. So we ARE in Iraq because of Bin Laden? Wait a minute, when Saddam was running the show Al Quaeda wasn't in Iraq. They certainly are there now of course receiving excellent on-the-job training thanks to Bush.

So Hawk what exactly does the war in Iraq have to do with the war on terror, especially when you consider the terrorists were in Afghanistan?

        OK.

        1. Bush the 1st did little about terrorism. (it did exist.)

        2. Two months into office, the first WTC was bombed. Clinton was convinced that terrorism was a priority.

        3. Clinton established the anti-terrorism wing of the FBI.

        4. Clinton held NUMEROUS meetings, minimum one time per week, to the issue of terrorism with Intelligence agencies.

        5. Clinton established a panel within the White House, to monitor all Intelligence agency information on terrorism, and to appraise him of changes, quickly.

6.Under Clinton's pressure, the mastermind of the first WTC bombing was found (in Pakistan), tried, convicted, and is serving a life sentence.

7.Clinton gave Intelligence agencies a flat order; capture or kill bin laden.

8.Clinton gave numerous speeches, including to Congress, that terrorism was a grave danger to our nation. He was basically ignored by the CONS.

9.Clinton offered the first anti terrorism to the Congress, of any U.S. President, asking for greater authority to track terrorist cells, and prepare for future attacks. Congress trashed his bill, and accused him of "wagging the dog." THEIR priority was Monica.

10.Under Clinton's pressure (making it a PRIORITY), plans to bomb LAX, Seattle's Space Needle, numerous bridges, the Israeli consulate, etc etc etc....were thwarted under his watch.

          11. Clinton worked with our allies, had a great rapor with them, and they willingly shared intelligence on terrorist cells.

          12. Clinton's administration shared with bush's administration the facts, the concerns, the intelligence on Bin Laden and terrorist cells around the world.

          And bush did.................nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Oh, I forgot. Clinton raised funding for counter terrorism across the board.

Clinton also had an executive order that in the event of any national emergency the #2 executives of the impacted agencies would become a committee that was in existence until mission accoplished. This means that the CIA, FBI, DoD, etc., would have to work together - contrary to the FBI-Police Agency wall Bush talked about on Thursday morning. So, Dubya immediately threw out this Clinton executive order on the first day of his administration, once again ignorant of history.

Hasn't Rumsfeld learned that we haven't learned how to fight a guerilla war from Vietnam? Overwhelming force, inaccurate bombs (acceptable collateral damage?), torture, confinement without charges doesn't win the "hearts and minds" of the populace of a country threatened by insurgents/terrorists - just makes more. Dubya didn't accept the fact that his dad knew not to occupy after the '91 war. But, Dubya said he answers to somehow higher than his dad!

Everyone knew WMD had been used in Iraq. Saddam stonewalled on UN inspections. He may have sent them to Syria. His stonewalling is what brought on the invasion, but he was also a corrupt murderer who supported terrorism and was ok with Al-Queda if they stayed out of his turf.

After the Taliban was out, Iraq was considered the next most dangerous country, especially since they kept shooting at our planes in the "no-Fly" zones we set up to somewhat protect some Iraqi people. Saddam asked for it by his behavior and he was rightly overthrown.
