Typical. If they can't win on their own merits, they sling mud until they've made themselves look good by comparison.

Have they no shame? I guess not. The 2004 "Swift Boat" attacks should have taught us that.

avatar
Reply

The polarization is hurtful to all of us, helps only the politicians who help themselves, not us. The Swift Boat ads were the most disgraceful political acts since similar tactics against other war heroes like Dole, McCain and McClellan were used. and by the same peole for the same guy - Bush. He is a disgrace to the country he never fought for.

I never get a response from anyone on the right about those four names mentioned above and I've mad the point countless times.

Looks like it will be a good year for the Dems, all the rest have proved to be lazy, unscrupulous, hate mongers who are like a bunch of lemmings following the Bush-Cheney lie.

Ok Scott-O-Rama ------ wanna bet that old Hillary won't have her BIG guns out. Remember, she had all those FBI files on everyone in Washington in her apartment. She has more dirt to dish out than anyone. So let's pass the DIRT around, ok?

Wow, such a change in strategy for them.

More Liberal agit-prop.

I live in a red state that the dems conceded in the last national convention so the only political commercials I saw were the ones that said Kerry flip-flopped and voted 240 times to raise taxes - right up until the voting. Many of these commercials were supposedly pulled nationally for their deception. For example Factcheck.org said Kerry only voted about 40 times to raise taxes, normal for a Democrat in office as long as he has been. What gross lies from the Party of Corruption - and more to come. No wonder Reagan vetoed the Truth in Tlecommunications Act in '87 to permit the side with the big bucks and the owners of the major media to blugeon Americans with their distorted truth.

Like the Democratic minority in Congress has been playing straight?

They have not been 'fighting dirty', muckraking, obfuscating and name calling for the last 6 years? Please!

Look at the articles here on Netscape! Mostly a long liberal smear campaign against Republicans!

avatar

The sad fact is that the GOP is great at winning elections, they just don't know what to do once elected.

avatar
Reply

Of course U nimrods are going to believe this and then just shut your mind to the converse. Let me guess, U believe that the dems are not going to use the same methods and play it clean. That they are going to play it clean and fair and come out looking like angels. U morons need to quit watching the wishful thinking channel. U need to show you have more than a couple of functional brain particles. None of U realize what fools U R making yourselves look like.

avatar
Reply

The only thing that dems can agree on is that they will say ANYTHING to TRY to make republicans look bad. When are they going to parade Honi Jane out on the stage?

They could always have a Kennedy stagger out on the stage!

avatar

Bobcat,

Thanks for making a fool of yourself by your ignorant comments. Yes, look at real Republican Presidential history: Watergate, Iran-Contra, Criminal Indictments of how many Bush supporters/staff members, Two Supreme Court decisions against bush for violating laws, etc...

And all you have on the Dems is a President with a sexual dereliction that didn't cost lives. What hypocricy!

Either party will try to throw mud. It has been going on for centuries. Each group tries to smear the reputation or intentions of the other. If the postings here are anything to judge by, the Left will throw more dirt and lies than the conservatives.

afterglow makes a good point.

Sad. Be nice if we could turn on the radio in October and not hear this nonsense. But I doubt it. Its bad when either side does it but the conservatives have made it a pillar of their approach i.e.Karl Rove, Lee Atwater who had the decency on his death bed to apologize. On the other hand it works. Adlai Stevenson once said "The American People get the politics they deserve." If we want it to stop just stop voting for the nimrods that put this stuff on the radio. Their names are on it. Be nice if in the primary voters would ask the candidates if they will forego negative advertising if they are selected. Who knows might help.

tagaman - good initial point about both sides. My findings, just me, have indicated the right does a little better job at mud slinging than the dems. Look at what they did to Dole, McCain, McClellan and Kerry. Explain that for me, please. and I haven't seen you using insults but on these sights it is mostly right wingers who insult. Look at your cohort Afterglow who lays out two put downs and then you praise them. Neither of Glow's remarks are in any way pertinent or representative of the Democratic Party.

dlsawyer - You never answered my questions about calling me a punk.

Sawyer,

No one does obfuscation better than Rumsfeld... and sometimes you can't tell what Dubya is saying. Dubya on the Energy Bill that eliminated any restrictions for ownership across the various energy commodities (Anti-monopoly Act for the 1930s): "We need an energy bill that encourages consumption." What did he say?

The Republicans are much better at using dirt and nonissues like family values or gay marriage. The most disgusting thing is that the American people are so easily duped.

Donald

The number of indictments and convictions of the Bush team are miniscule. If you really want to see a long list of convictions, just look at the Clinton record, as I recall there were dozens of indictment and convictions. Including Slick himself. In fact he was disbarred in his home state for his Felony conviction.

Family values and Gay marriage - a nonissues

That shows how little you really know about the voters in this country. This type of condescension is why you can't elect your elitist Liberals like Algore and Kerry.

The reason Clinton has so many convictions against him is that the Republicans spent over 80 billion dollers dogging him with useless ivestigations that turned up mostly nothing. Bush, enjoying his Rebulican majority has had no such constant legal hassling.

Well dang! Who was expecting adult conversation from CONS about the issues? Talk about 'preaching to the choir', I don't understand why anyone feels they need to say CONS will 'fight dirty.' It's what they do. It's who they are. It's all they know.

In the spirit of keeping liberals honest, let's take our hits for Clinton having signed a bill to deregulate the media even more. Of course we all pay for that, by being propagandized from one 'side' or the other.

maybe they are tired of dems/libs telling them they are stupid all the time>>>>

Well DUH! If people don't like being called what they do/are, what do you suppose would stop that?

The GOP has always fought dirty. That's the way they play the game - to win - at any cost. Politics is a rough game. As Harry Truman once said, if you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen.

"The first ad run by the new RNC effort criticizes Ohio Rep. Sherrod Brown (D) for voting against proposals designed to toughen border protection and deport illegal immigrants" Boy are these Rep. a dirty mean bunch. This isnt an election issue, its just gutter politics. Typical Washington Post.

Let's face it ~ It's the voters who lose in every instance. At least the voters who really care and don't just go along with one politician over another because that's the party line.

Yeah, it's been this way for a long time. It's just too bad, what with all the communications out there, that the candidates couldn't be forced to really talk about the issues and give their own opinions. But most of them will tow the party line.

Or, as this article brings out, they'll try to get personal and point to past problems the person had. How often will the issues truly be addressed?

I'm sick of the "This Republican has voted to kill our troops..." or "This Democrat voted to weaken our country..."

Both are distortions of the real record.

I have more respect for the candidates who do what their heart says, don't have a problem explaining why they may have changed a vote, or standing up and voting for what they believe is best for Americans and damn the party line!

avatar

Oh that's right, when Democrats do it it's called investigative journalism...

FactCheck.org is a good site to check if you have any questions regarding political ads. It states the truth of the ad with no regard to party and states why it is false or true. We have seen the ads against Sherod Brown for the past week or so made with Mike Dewine, never giving the full story of a particular vote. This site will help you learn the truth, no matter what party you are.

Seems , I recall an article about one politician suing another for slander about the mud slinging. This is somewhere in the state of Florida.

Hey, that one guy has a good idea. How 'bout it America, I'm tired from all the bull...and offended by it to. I think I smell a class action suit, maybe.

Negative advertising, while not innately wrong, is generally mud-slinging and usually slander. But the problem is not with either of the two parties; you can't blame the Democrats or the Republicans for practicing what works.. No the problem is with the American public that buys it; if the voting body was more educated, it wouldn't be influenced by such nonsense. Unfortunately, the average American is more interested in celebrity gossip and American Idol than what actually matters...

I hope they all have dual citizenship of Israel and keep their Israeli passports updated.

Of course the Republicans are going to fight dirty. Is this news? Haven't they always slung mud? Karl Rove, Bush's political advsor for more than a decade. Show me a man's friends and I'll show you the man. Even the Bush supporters know that Rove is diabolical and vile. So what does that make Bush?

You are dead on DeadHead, the lack of caring about the political issues and lack of real reseach from both points of views just blows my mind! If all you do is get one side of an issue you are not really trying to understand anything! It is up to you to find out everything about issues.

Thats right lovelytxwoman. Everyone is also forgetting that many or most Republicans do not want to be seen with Bush right now. The Democrats are not loved either, just hated a little bit less. I wish there were more independant candidates out there.

Hopefully, people will look beyond any mud slinging, and look at what affects them the most such as jobs, wages, health care, gas prices, education, cost of living, etc.

First part of the summary comment...

"The Republicans plan to attack Democrats on their voting records..."

Exactly how is this dirty?

Crybaby liberals at it again...

They slander Bush with fabrications at every turn but can't stand it when Republicans hit them with facts.
