Sept. 13, 2006, 4:05 p.m.Proves once again that the successful business model for corporate news in the U.S. is "conservative" and "simple".
Americans cannot grasp complex (balanced) issues. "Stupid" sells.
From CBS to CNN to Fox News Channel-- if you present the news in a black & white or "us vs. them" manner-- and with a conservative bias, you will be rewarded with higher ratings.
This news is just further proof the U.S. mainstream media is not "liberal". It is conservative.

Sept. 13, 2006, 4:23 p.m.Of course AAR is going bankrupt its all George Bush, Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh's evil plot. I mean who stole funds to pay Al Franken. OOOooops I forgot it was a loan. lol. Yeah and of course we have the brilliant bcphila, he and liberals alone know the whole truth. The rest of us American's are just poor, uneducated rednecks so easily manipulated. I mean we all know George and Jeb Bush rigged the 2000 Florida election, then the GOP stole the Ohio election in 2004. But the Govenors election in, I believe, Washington state where a county had more votes than registered voters well that was not crooked at all because a Democrat won.
bcphila the only reason you think the media is conservative is because even as liberal as they are they still are far right of your views.

Sept. 13, 2006, 4:48 p.m.How can Air America get the credit for creating the progressive talk radio format? I thought the credit for that belongs to NPR.

Sept. 13, 2006, 5:41 p.m.Truth: Settle- I know its unusual to have to be on the defensive on these posts, but man settle down. We did read, we did comprehend, and were not intrested in the spin.
The truth is (no pun intended)there is no market (check the ratings radio man) for Air Head America, cause the major networks have already cornered the market on liberal bias. Why tune to Air Head America when you can hear the same thing on CNN, MSNBC, and all the networks?

Of course not. There will always be plenty of people too lazy to think for themselves. I sit beside a Limbaugh lover and the man has so little grasp of history it's really almost funny. But whatever Rush tells him thats the truth. Life is so easy. He sits there with headphones on from 1-4 and snickers as Rush spouts his hatespeech. Condemning those who don't believe as he does. You know, like real patriotic Americans. The rest of us are bent on bringing the nation to her knees, handing America over to the UN, assisting terrorists, and hating Bush.
The other big lie is that libs listened to Air America (it was just poorly done) and we all loiter at MoveOn.com all day and worship Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan. We have diversity on our side something the GOP will never have in a significant way. It is also our greatest weakness come Election Day.

Sept. 13, 2006, 6:37 p.m.Now that Air America is in trouble, the only place that one can go for any type of balanced reporting is NPR. Thank God that are still there or have Washington cut their funding too.

Sept. 13, 2006, 6:43 p.m.What?
You can't turn a profit when syndicated on three stations, all who appeal to broke kids and burnout losers from the 60's.
Imagine that.........

Sept. 13, 2006, 6:53 p.m.Those who have said this doesn't mean much have a point, so far as they took it. Air America is not a "goner" by any means, but their bankruptcy suggests that they have cash-flow problems (i. e., not enough money on hand to pay the bills). Personally, I wonder how much their woes are the result of high salaries paid to on-air "talent," executives, and consultants.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio has a similar problem. It simply cannot generate enough revenue or attract enough subscribers (which would enable them to get loans) to meet the exhorbitant amount they have contracted to pay Howard Stern.
There are many reasons that companies to declare bankruptcy, just are there are many reasons companies fail. Sometimes it's low sales, sometimes poor management, or sometimes two or three bad decisions will bring the house down. Remember that Robert Hall, Woolco, and other major retailers were profitable right up to the moment when they turned out the lights.

Sept. 13, 2006, 7:29 p.m.Waaaaaaahhhhhhhh! Our crappy, whining radio company went broke. Waaaaaahhhhhhhh!
Liberal media never works. Nobody wants to listen to people whine all day about the same old thing. The main reason that NPR is still on is government funding, and because they actually have some entertainment value in some of their shows. I tried to listen to Air America several times, and I just couldn't take it.
Good riddance!

Sept. 13, 2006, 7:39 p.m.Its easy for the right to bash Air America-the right dont like to hear the truth. You know why Rush Limpd$*k and Sean Hannity are still on because they got the backing of FOX News-ha ha thats funny, the word News after FOX. FOX news is like pro-wrestling-its fake and its entertaining. The scary thing is, people actually believe that whatever they say is the truth. And usally its false. Hey it doesnt mean Air America is going anywhere, it will always be there, thank god!

Sept. 13, 2006, 7:44 p.m.Oh dear, Truth.............
I understand that you took the meds today, but it seems that you are still really 'bouncing off the walls', albeit padded.
I think we need to make a few adjustments. I'll get with the staff tomorrow and see if we can get you some relief.
Warm Regards,
PS..about those stations, duhhhhhh........I think at last count it was around 80 something. Unfortunately, you need at least 35% to be high ad revenue to have a slight chance to break even. Once you go over 100 stations and higher you can get by with 'drive time'/ commute only high ad revenue to break even and perhaps turn a profit. AM radio lives or dies
on peak time ad sales.
Rush is over 500 stations so he is 'golden' and commands his 200 million contract.
So you see Truth, I was just having fun with the '3' station thing. But then, I am an EVIL, dirty capitalist and understand how to turn a profit.
Thus I get to pollute YOUR air with my Lincoln Navigator.
Loaded, I might add.................lol

Sept. 13, 2006, 8:06 p.m.Big Cheese,
I think you "cut the cheese" with that retarded comment...I give Air America a few more months...They won't last too much longer...They've had a multitude of problems in the past even to the point where they couldn't pay their employees! What a joke...
Another prime example of why liberalism won't work in this country...

Sept. 13, 2006, 8:19 p.m.FSU92grad,
Nice of you to care about poor Truth / Lies only future.
I suggest he look into a relationship with this complete nutcase Randi Rhodes ( may not have the spelling correct) who was on late afternoon. She is about as hysterical as Truth.
But to be honest, I will miss it.
Just a little bit, mind you.
I would catch it on Satellite in the car from time to time and I was always both amused and disturbed at the hate directed toward America. At first I thought it was Radio Iran. Same rants.
It was my first insight into how ugly, hateful and mentally disturbed the left had become.
Can you imagine getting up every morning with that burden of hate toward Bush and America ?
jezzzzzzzzzz.........
But now we have this board to keep us laughing.
So life is in fact, good !!!
Warm Regards
