Friday night ...hmm. An excellent time to sneak in a rider to prohibit our personal choices. I play online sometimes. Whether you do or not, do you really think it is the government's place to legislate people not to?

Whether you're an online poker player or not, Democrat or Republican, this is bad news. Bill Frist knows that this won't pass a full, accountable debate in the Senate, so he is abusing the legislative process to sneak this into an important bill that should only be about port security.

This has to be stopped, because if they can come after the online poker players this way, who will they come after next?

Contact your congressman and have them outlaw the practice of attaching one bill to another when they are totally unrelated.

This has always astounded me that this procedure is allowed. I think gambling is foolish, however, if it's your bag the government should back off.

In regards to CK's other posting on hiring two new netscape navigators, and his comments on the sample the web page...

Hey CK, Just stopped by Netscape's homepage. There were quite a few stories that didn't have pictures next to them. You said...All stories which make it to the homepage get pictures (unless they are spam; then we kill the post). Well I checked the stories and they are all active. What's happening here?

Also some of your beloved Navigators are not submitting there quota's. I have to say this...I was once a Netscape Junkie. Yes, I use to spend all my free time blogging. What for though? Due to your favoritism toward Ousama and Mssaleem just to name a few, not to mention, the overall inequity of your process, have made us realize it's just not worth it. Go ahead and have your own little world of paid friends because you certainly can't keep the ones that aren't paid! Perhaps, all of your paid posters can take a lesson in hospitality rather than gloating in their exhaulted status. They should be concerned about everyone's success and not just keeping their own job. Which is what it appears to be. So I will see ya C.K. Thanks...You can take your foot out now and let someone else give it a shot.

I ask you all to remember that StarWars Episode 3 was highly political in nature. Surely Im not the only one who sees similarities here to the state of our own government. hmm but if this was say China, id be shot for even Thinking such a thing. How dare I...

What I am not the only one to notice is that, our government is making deliberate steps to ensure 2 things. Those in Power stay in power. No one gets power without permission.

That said sources have noted that the United States was born Mostly Republic in nature. However with time it because most decidedly democratic. Now as our nation swells, in Both Population, and the Belly, the fibers that bound us can no longer hold. The Republic is taking hold once more, and this statement is neither Political or biased. Its Fact, having nothing to do with elected parties.

Un fortunately for the internet this topic has surfaced far to late for anything to be done about it. I only hope that the Bill is failed, and Frist is given a stern Beating by his colleges. Most certainly legislation on Internet, has nothing to do with National Security.

But since Warrentless Phone taps, has been made legal and is retroactive, making every law already Violated invalid... Im sure the US government in all its moral high ground wont mind confusing Internet Gambling with Port security too...

I live in Tennessee, and I have been SO ASHAMED that Frist is 'supposedly' representing our state! He is horrible - the WORST hypocrite, right up there with Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. I am NOT a bit surprised at this latest antic of his. The ONLY good news I can give about Frist is that he will be OUT of the Senate next month. He decided to retire a while back, thinking he could run for President. Given that he is still under investigation for misuse of blind trusts, I think he hasn't been working on that. But, THANK GOD he will be OUT of the Senate. Now we can only hope that Harold Ford Jr beats Bob Corker to take Frist's place.

In order to get the amount of votes to get this bill thrown out, they need to have an automated form that you can just click on and have it sent to your congressman or senator. Calling is a pain in the a.. and time consuming as well. As much money as the Poker companies have made online, it would behove them to ease participation against this bill, after all if it succeeds they will have to just be overseas.

As we all know, online poker games are starting to cut into the real casino poker profits. Why travel to some casino out of town when online is so much easier. The Australian government supports one official online poker company and constantly monitors it. So why should'nt the US Govt do the same and tax it?

There is no "FREEDOM" without responsibility and respect for others. We are not exercising either responsibility or respect when we engage in or promote activities which demoralize or criminalize kpeople.

"FREEDOM" is not a license to do or say as we please.

"FREEDOM" is an obligation to be respectful and responsible.

"FREEDOM" does NOT sanction activities which produce moral corruption, crime and violence. Gambling is one such activity.

"FREEDOM" should raise us to a higher spiritual level - not lower us into an abyss of degradation.

                              GOD BLESS.....

The question posed is what would putting $5 down on an online game of poker be attributed to? According to the religious right, that $5 is being taken away from the churches. Most people only have a finite amount of money to spend on non-essentials. The religious right surely doesn't want you spending that money to an online poker game. You are taking that money out of the collection plate.

First, let me say I'm soooo impressed that it ONLY took these jokers five years to address 'port security.' Next, gambling has nothing to do with it. However, it's time for CONS to placate their radical religious base, and those folks are ONLY concerned with dumping their dogma into the lives of other Americans. Sooo, their dogma gets snuck into our laws by attaching it to important bills. If Democrats don't vote for the port bill, they'll be crucified by ignorant voters who don't realize that what they're really voting against is a rider that would erode rights. And so it goes. Nothing can be done about it....well, unless Americans are ready to take to the streets and send a message. But dang, if they sit quietly while rummy is given the power to torture people, I really don't think there is a 'tipping point' to make people stand up to this madness.
