I can't spell! Can di date. OK That's it! Ha...

Well here we go again, no scandal here but I can see why this guy doesn't like taxes. Maybe he has a good reason for not paying but the IRS doesn't accept IOU's for whatever excuse you have, pay it up Danny!

I like this guy. He's a man of action. He didn't wait around until he was actually elected to get caught up in a scandal. Mansell demonstrates efficiency and a "go-getter" attitude. Attaboy!

Who would have figured that the republican candidate would be outside the law. That's immoral.

Feel for him with his family troubles. Many Americans are just a pay check away from being in trouble especially those 45,000,000 or so without health insurance.

Don't think he is eligable for the sympathy vote here. Maybe the current congressman doesn't see a threat here and doesn't need to bring on the negative ads on this one. Especially, if he is way ahead in the polls.

Does show the calibar of the Republican candidates though and that they aren't sufficiently vetted.

I feel sorry for his family problems. However, this is not an excuse for not paying his taxes. He is already against the federal income tax that he would want to eliminate if elected. So, this guy has been screwing the federal government by not paying his taxes and he wants to be elected to office where he will have the opportunity to screw the North Carolinians!

When I listen to cons talking about the liberal congressman Harry Reid, I am amazed by the fact that they try to dismiss the more serious criminal, ethical and moral problems conservative officials actually have.

"His campaign platform includes a plan to eliminate the federal income tax and replace it with a nationwide sales tax."

Republican candidate Mansell was just ahead of the curve, he didn't pay the fedaral income tax that he was suppose to pay because he was confident that he was going to win the election and that his campaign promise would be fulfilled and there fore he would not be responsible for the taxes. He was just a little premature that's all.

Oh boy...here we go again !!!! I am so sick of seeing and hearing about the two different parties....so and so did this so they must be a democrat, so and so did that so they must be a republican.....how lame is that ?!?!

Wrong is wrong, and there is nothing political about that !!

And one more thing.....if you are in the public eye, such as holding a public office, wouldn't that make you want to keep everything on the up and up so it wouldn't tarnish one's reputation?? Or does noone care about reputations or a good name any more??

Hey everybody what about this: Mr. Mansell CANT AFFORD to pay his tax bill due to insufficient funds. Isn't that possible?

This is interesting. Not a single post from anyone who is a small business owner who pays these kinds of taxes.

Is anyone here aware of how complicated tax filings are? Or how often they must be done? That you need to estimate your quarterly tax bill and pay it on a quarterly basis? Most of us can barely meet the April 15 annual deadline.

And then there is payroll tax, sales tax, franchise tax. And don't forget all of your state and local operating permits.

It's a huge burden. Especially for small business people. I think the issue should be the complexity and cost of compliance of our tax code. Maybe that's why he favors tax reform.

But it's fascinating that everyone's comments assume he is a crook out to screw everyone.
