Oct. 22, 2006, 12:49 p.m.What an intelligent & articulate man he is. Quite a contrast in this current sea of idiocy. If he runs, I'll have to investigate his ideologies/votes, but so far, he looks OK to me.

Oct. 22, 2006, 12:55 p.m.Like John Edwards, a great deal will be made concerning his lack of experience. IMO the longer you are in National politics especially the 'Senate' the less likely you are to win. The opposition will use that voting record to rip you apart.

Oct. 22, 2006, 11:15 p.m.Lack of experience can be a plus, judging from what 'experience' is giving us now. I like Obama's passion. He speaks from our roots. Haven't heard that in a very long time....since I heard it from another young man....John Kennedy. I can't imagine anything this country needs more, than that warm fuzzy feeling of who we were meant to be, and what we were meant to represent. It's just so ugly now, I can't imagine most people are aren't repulsed by it.

Oct. 23, 2006, 1:03 a.m.When was the last time a Senator was elected President? When, for that matter , was the last time someone from Midwest/Northeast was elected President?
I suppose it can happen. But it had better happen in 2008. In 2010, the Census will reapportion the Electoral College. After that, the blue states will continue to lose electoral seats to the red states

Oct. 22, 2006, 4:29 p.m.Heard him on Meet the Press this am.
Sounds great.
Able to articulate ideas and strategies that make sense.
I would like to see him run. Edwards would make a fine running mate for him.
I would happily work for that campaign.

Oct. 22, 2006, 6:07 p.m.Hi death,
He is one of my senators, and we (my wife and I) were very impressed with his speech at the Democrat convention. He actually sounded as thoug he could unite America...then he spent time in D.C. He now sounds far left. I am still looking for center and reasonable. Maybe he has hope...but I am currently disappointed.

Oct. 22, 2006, 5:02 p.m.Sorry Dude, I live in redneck central hell, and every single one of them are democrats. Hello, they are poor...

Oct. 23, 2006, 5:23 p.m.I wouldn't vote on a ticket that had Hillary on it if you paid me to. She's possibly the worst thing ever for the Democratic Party, and the fact that she could be chosen as having "more" experience (sorry, that amount of time doesn't cut it) than Obama would be a joke. We'll be stuck with whatever sad sack the 'crats throw out there for us, because it's not what people want. Ever.

Oct. 22, 2006, 5:01 p.m.Obama selecting Hilary as a running mate would be political suicide. Very few people, even among liberals and dems want to see her as prez or vice. That is probably the worst mistake Barrack could make.

Oct. 23, 2006, 12:11 a.m.I agree with you. Senator Clinton is not well liked among lots of democrats, let alone repubs/neocons..
I do like her, but I am realistic enough to agree with you about the "political" suicide.

Obama is great...alot like JFK Jr.

Oct. 22, 2006, 6:06 p.m.There's the ticket. RFK Jr. and Mr. Obama. One can deal with the environment while the other takes charge of the folks. I love it. Problem---RFK Jr. says he won't run.

Oct. 22, 2006, 5:48 p.m.I love Hillary too but really think Edwards is better.
That would be so great to have those two young bucks take charge!!!

Oct. 22, 2006, 5:51 p.m.Not to get off subject but I think that the most intelligent, non political person in washington is David Gergen, a republican who has worked for both dem and republican presidents.I think he should be drafted into running.I'm not a republican but this guy is for real and he can get things done. He'd be great as Obama's Secretary of State.

Oct. 22, 2006, 6:30 p.m.AARRGGG to Gergen He has just been around for too long. Maybe he could hold a cabinet post.

mntnman444
Oct. 22, 2006, 5:54 p.m.Gergen is the republican who stepped in to pull Clinton out of the fire in his first few months because he believed in the dignity of the presidency over partisanship. We need more like him.

Oct. 22, 2006, 6:03 p.m.you know how bush sr was vice prez for 2 terms then prez for 1 term. can a former prez be vice prez?
-

jaxguy
Oct. 22, 2006, 6:33 p.m.Nope...
22nd Amendment - No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.
There is an argument that this should apply to Presidents who want to become a VP. The supreme court would likely rule that a Pres can not become a VP, although it is not explictly stated in our Constitution, which some executive branch politicans consider "just another Gdamn piece of paper" Who said that?
-
-

mntnman444
Oct. 22, 2006, 6:44 p.m.Reagan ran as wanting to be a one term president, then once he was in his second term suggested that the constitution should be ammended to allow a third term. And they call themselves coservatives!
-

turnitupsidedown
Oct. 22, 2006, 6:56 p.m.i remeber shortly after reagan became prez and the alzheimers was starting to show, everyone was saying that bush sr was actually running the country. so that would be 3 terms plus his sons 2 terms. thats 5 terms in the white house.

Oct. 22, 2006, 7:17 p.m.McCain and Obama already have a little spat going. Wouldn't that make for another great layer in debates. Seriously, this guy is the real deal. He is young, brilliant, energetic. I would not be suprised to see him as a vp on Edwards ticket though. Dem's are going to be too careful this time around, and don't want to deal with his "lack of experiance" issue. I would love to see him headline however. The only presidential canidate with any true "experiance" is an incumbent, and until they get the law changed there isn't one running.

Oct. 22, 2006, 7:43 p.m.other than sounding intelligent and articulate..what has obama accomplished in his time in office..what landmark legislation has he brought...? same as hillary..nothing..please dems..a hillary obama ticket....my cat would beat them in a landslide

Oct. 22, 2006, 7:53 p.m.ningyo -- how can ANY Democrat bring ANY legislation to Congress? For the last 13 years, Republicans have CONTROLLED Congess - BOTH houses. They don't let Democrats in the House or Senate do SQUAT.
So you will measure a congressman or a senator by how my laws they authored??
How about looking at their VOTING RECORD?? Whether or not they 'create' a law, they VOTE on everything ...

Oct. 22, 2006, 8:02 p.m.What a liberal love-in we have here. So Osama Obama is your man. Good, since your old Libs have so much baggage like, Hillary, Kerry, Kennedy, Dean, you might be able to package this guy much better. In addition, if he doesn't say what he believes in as a Lib, you might be able to fool enough folks into voting for him.
-

Oct. 22, 2006, 10:06 p.m.hi guys looks like fun here.
farmerman: "Osama Obama" if you are going to try to be inflamitory then please be accurate. your attempt to portray someone who cares deeply about this country as some sort of terrorist is just pathetic. you have so much more to offer these discussions...

Oct. 22, 2006, 8:08 p.m.Do you think that he'd be writing his political manifesto and parading himself around cameras and talk shows in a high profile media blitz if he wasn't interested in going after the carrot?

Oct. 22, 2006, 8:16 p.m.I remember a movie that recently came out that was a "docudrama" on the assasination of Bush. I wonder if there will be a similar movie on Obama? He kinda reeks of JFK in that sense. Everyone loves him, just like everyone loved JFK. But yet JFK ended up with a splitting head ache.
Voting records on a first term senator is not what I look for in a president. Rather a philosophy, and a track record that backs up the philosophy. I think Obama has some time to log first.

Everyone didn't love JFK. Where did you get that idea? Yes, back then people respected a President much more than they do today, but he sure wasn't loved by everyone or even close to it. Much of the Camelot myth was pushed by the Lib media in the years following the asassination.
