Nov. 17, 2006, 10:04 a.m.Well, ain't that just peachy. The Republicans give themselves a Boehner. Better than giving it to a page, I guess.

Nov. 17, 2006, 10:06 a.m.Looks like the Republican leadership has come up with a solution to their recent record as architects of the most Do Nothing Congress in history. The solution? Change Nothing.

Nov. 17, 2006, 8:23 p.m.I would like to know just how you might know what either Iran or Al-Qaeda are thinking?
Do you have direct contact with the leadership of the government of Iran or with Al-Qaeda leaders? If you have this inside information you may want to talk with the state department and we can clarify all of the confusion over these matters.
If you are not in direct communication with the two entities I mentioned I would suggest you shut-up about what they think. Because you haven't got even a freaking clue of what you are talking about.
In your frothing mental hatred of liberals you seek to associate them with terrorism. For what ends, other than to remove your own frustration, I can not imagine. I do not agree with terrorists or their actions. I would kill them on sight if needed.
You obviousley have given no reasonable thought to this baseless accusation.
I can only state that if ignorance is bliss, you must be one very happy individual.

Nov. 17, 2006, 12:13 p.m.It's amazing how entrenched in corruption the Repugnants have become and it's apparent that they are unable to clean up their act.

Nov. 19, 2006, 2 a.m.I just have to wonder how you come up with that given the fact that I do not see much "moral" behavior from the cons. Talk is cheap and they do a lot of it.
All Americans are sick and tired of what is happening in government. The Republicans have controlled the strings for the last decade and have gotten their comeuppance.
If the newly elected folks don't do a better job, it will behoove us to throw them out too.

Nov. 17, 2006, 12:18 p.m.Here is another news story on the new minority leader Boehner: "After Ney Admits To Crimes, Boehner Refuses To Call For His Resignation" This is what this story was about 60 days ago: "Yesterday on Fox News Sunday, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) was asked whether Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) should step down from Congress. Ney pled guilty last week to federal corruption charges, admitting to prosecutors that "he had accepted tens of thousands of dollars in illegal favors from Abramoff and from a Syrian businessman nicknamed 'the Fat Man.'"
So many problems and all is forgotten when he is elected. Also forgotten are Lott's problems and he only won by one vote in the Senate to be the minority whip. All news is about the majority party, the Democrates, and problems they may be having with their learership. I guess the desire is to find fault with the winning party. Never mind the problems with the losing party and their leadership.

Nov. 19, 2006, 2:03 a.m.If Harry Reid broke the rules he needs to go too.
Too many of these guys (on BOTH sides) know exactly how far they can stretch the law and still get away with it.
DeLay is the perfect example except he may finally have gone too far.

Nov. 17, 2006, 3:19 p.m.So you agree that picture is Thug picture. Well, angles or appearance will not change a man... even in the link you gave here he looks like a Thug. I don't know the man.... so no more comments about him but his appearance.

procyon
Nov. 18, 2006, 8:42 a.m.Thanks for the link. Strictly apolitcally speaking, the Netscape-published pic of Boehner is definitely skewed.
And if the man is a thug from any angle, then why not publish the well-dressed clean cut photo from the above link? Aren't thugs well dressed?
The plain answer is: this press wants to convey a visceral repulsion to the viewer.

Nov. 17, 2006, 1:23 p.m.Well, fortunately, the counrty realizes they were tricked by the Democrats. All they wanted was power...their "act" of having integrity is already a joke (aka Harry Reid and John "cut and run" Murtha), their plan for change is to destroy the economy by raising taxes...meanwhile, terrorists and countries like Iran are giving the Democrats the "thumbs up".
...and your still stuck on what the Republicans are doing?
Well, at least your gone in less than 2 years...

Nov. 17, 2006, 2:37 p.m."Tricked" by democrats? So now the MAJORITY of americans are too dumb to recognize the difference between the 2 parties?Since you still haven't realized why republicans lost, what makes you so sure that americans will want you in 2 yrs?I think the election proves that americans feel that they were "tricked" by republicans not democrats.

Nov. 17, 2006, 3:07 p.m.Basically, the Democrats had no issues of their own to run on. Their whole strategy was...bring down the republicans at all costs, even if it means trying to tear the counrty apart.
So, they spent the last three years complaining about a war, and spent all their efforts trying to block anything which would help us against terrorism.
Well, as of this week, 4 out of 5 people (newsweek poll) say the Democrats have no plan concerning Iraq.
Robert Ruebin comes out 5 days after the election and says we absolutely have to raise taxes.
Hillary Clinton comes out and says we're going to have to nationalize health care, even though some of you won't like it.
It's just as we expected...
Let's be honest, at least the Republicans ran on issues. All the Democrats did was run against Bush and the war in Iraq.
-

tchef
Nov. 17, 2006, 6:38 p.m.That's funny I consider Bush and the war two very big issues. Bush used faulty intel to get us into this war, Then completely screwed it up, and now we are stuck with no good solution. That sounds like an issue to me.
Let's talk about how our rights are being trampled on. Warrentless wire taps anyone? That sounds like and issue to me. There is no reason those wiretaps couldn't be done with some kind of oversight. Even a special commision to expidite the process. It is never a good idea to let anyone this kind of power with no oversight be they Demacrat, Republican, or independent. Remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Nov. 17, 2006, 11:38 p.m.Maybe you need to pay attention to something other than Rush's brilliant discourse.
There is the minimum wage, the environment, Homeland Security, the deficit, and a number of other subjects the Demos have discussed the last several months.
And it's not about raising taxes, it's about not allowing the ridiculous Bush tax cuts to the rich continue on. There is a difference.
Republicans had NOTHING to run on other than "vote Democrat and the terrorists will attack us again".
Very constructive!

Nov. 17, 2006, 3:11 p.m."I hear the Dems, Iran, and the Terrorists are going to do a reality show - you know like Wife Swap."
If you don't believe me, google the latest Iran Presidential and al-qaeda statements. In each case, they are glad Democrats have won.
Al-Qaeda said this election (electing democrats) was a step in the right direction.
-

looter
Nov. 17, 2006, 3:27 p.m.Well... Al-Qaeda and Iran if they are glad are going to buried in silence and darkness, without any collatral damage. That's the way war against terror must be fought. They live in Shadows, we won't turn on the light, we will shut any possibility of those souls seeing anymore light. And the rhetoric of the terrorists will forever be dissoloved in the celebration of peace, prosperity and equality of all. For that Democrats are the only way. That's the way we do things. Al-Qaeda and others who are conspiring against peace and equality will not know what hit them. When hell fire fries their bones they will know what they mongered for was nothing but hell and Democrats made it a bit easier for them to reach that hell fire fast.
