Jan. 13, 2007, 11:30 a.m.YAY, i hope they do well. At one time i said that i didn't think Hilary would be a good pres, but after these last 6 years, with 2 more to go, Magilla Gorilla would be a welcome change.

Jan. 13, 2007, 11:36 a.m.Democrats will field a Clinton-Obama ticket in 08, and any American who does not vote for that ticket will be labeled Sexist, Homophobe, and Racist. Won't work. Americans will not vote for a Liberal ticket no matter what gender or color it is.

Jan. 13, 2007, 7:29 p.m.Yeah, a Clinton-Obama ticket won't happen. Obama won't settle for being Hilliary's wingman and Hillary doesn't like him.
And any American who voted against Bush was labeled anti-American. What's new?
As for Americans not voting for a liberal ticket, what happened two months ago?

Jan. 13, 2007, 2:45 p.m.I'd rather see a John Edwards - Barack Obama ticket.
"Americans will not vote for a Liberal ticket no matter what gender or color it is."
Don't you think it's a little presumptuous to be speaking on behalf of all Americans, particularly after the eviction of the Republican majority in both houses of Congress and in light of Bush's abysmal approval ratings?

Jan. 13, 2007, 5:23 p.m.garmissou86- Why do you say that Sen. Obama represents the Dems having nothing? Have you heard him speak about the issues? I have, and it was a very welcome change - more human than politician, a very dedicated father, and SMART. Then there's his experience- We can start w/ his tenure as President of the Harvard Law Review and work our way to his current service on some of the most important committees in Washington. I mean, I'm sure compared to you, he's some kind of slacker. Nevertheless, if you have a problem with the guy, why don't you point to something of substance and back it up?

Jan. 13, 2007, 3:16 p.m.Reps will easily beat either one of these, without having to spend a dime. Why should us citizens take Dems seriously if they can't be bothered to offer viable candidates?

Jan. 13, 2007, 4:13 p.m.Oh yeah, the last 8 years of the Bush administration will certainly help the repub cause, i mean look at what it did for the cons last Nov! Get a grip!

Jan. 13, 2007, 3:17 p.m.DEMOCRATS always make the same mistakes. I'M independent, most of the country is middle of the road. What do the Democrats do, elect liberals to challenge a middle of road Republican. Our worst President, "Bush" is, was, I don't know, well - He seemed, conservative to the chagrin of the ultra conservaties.
Anyway, Democrats put up a ticket with "middle of road" candidates. PLEASE.
Have to add this quote from another blogger, Obama is so new he cannot find his own office. "Where is his past political record.
Hillary is so liberal she watches leaves fall from a tree and dependent upon which direction they fall she goes in that direction. A leader who leads by the latest polls with no novel opinions developed over time.

Jan. 14, 2007, 3:14 a.m.NELSON R WROTE:
"Anyway, Democrats put up a ticket with "middle of road" candidates. PLEASE."
Obama is in the "middle of the road."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obama
"Reviewing Obama's career in the Illinois Senate, commentators noted his ability to work effectively with both Democrats and Republicans, and to build coalitions."
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/04_15
"But he also has earned a reputation as an innovative legislator who can cross party lines and build coalitions."
NELSON R WROTE:
"Obama is so new he cannot find his own office. 'Where is his past political record.'"
Bush's pre-presidential Record: 6 years as state governor
Obama's Record (by 2008 presidential election): 8 years state senator, 4 years senator
Obama's total record will double Bush's experience in an elected office prior to a presidential campaign.

Jan. 13, 2007, 4:57 p.m.Democrats are so pitiful. They think winning an election where only 40% of Americans show up at the poll is a landslide. Barely half of that 40% voted Democrat. Unless they kiss an awful lot of Republicans they will get nothing done in the 110th. Thus they become the "do Nothings" and we will sweep them out in 08. So far they have put nothing on the Presidents desk, and they only have 21 1/2 months to get something done. What a hoot.
-

K10House
Jan. 13, 2007, 5:28 p.m.aniokly - where have you been? Try reading the newspaper or heaven's forbid, watch a little C-Span. Yeah, many Dems have been pitiful in many ways, but not so much lately. They've been getting a lot done. What's pitiful is your freewheeling generalization and ignorance. A hoot? Not so much. If you aren't going to keep up with what our representatives have been doing, maybe you should join the non-voters.

Jan. 13, 2007, 5:51 p.m.8. So far they have put nothing on the Presidents desk, >>>>>
Now that ridiculous remark wins a prize. In one week, the House passed a minimum wage increase. In 12 years, the cons passed nothing on minimum wage. In one week, the House passed a bill to help fund scientific reasearch. In 12 years, the cons took research back into the dark ages. In one week, the House passed a bill to make prescription drugs (that YOU pay for) competitive in pricing. In 12 years, the CONS put the elderly at risk, making many unable
to afford only brand name drugs. The democrats did these things ALL in the same week. Puleeeeeze.....grow up.

Jan. 13, 2007, 7:39 p.m.I'm sorry, aniokly. Could you also do that math about the Republican wins in 2000, 2002, and 2004?
And speaking of a do-nothing Congress, how many days did the last Congress meet? And what did they accomplish?

Jan. 13, 2007, 9:26 p.m.Hobe - All I can say when I read a comment like yours is that I hope the Dems will work as hard on improving our educational system as they have on other measures so far this session. Just out of curiosity, what do any of the people you mentioned have to do with Barack Obama's intelligence, good will or abilities? And if you think that those people's behavior somehow reflects on Obama's, then how could you ever vote for a conservative again given the shameful and deceitful behavior of so many of them in recent years/months?

Jan. 13, 2007, 6:17 p.m.Hillary Clinton is confusing age with experience. She has six years in the Senate, a career with the Rose Law Firm, and a stormy 8 years as First Lady, which is not a job. Barak Obama is fresh and has as much employment experience as Clinton. Listen to him. He can think. He's not afraid to answer a question. He is warm and communicative and has the right values for America. If he runs, we'll support him.

Jan. 13, 2007, 6:37 p.m.What was that word ... gravitas! Neither have it! They will both screw up between now and then and be eliminated.
They are already making poor stategy judgements. They should give Bush what he wants and keep the war in his corner for two more years. If his plan doesn't work, It will then be his war when he leaves.
Instead they will try to get us to leave by withholding funds and constant complaining.
By 2008, the country will believe the dems lost the war for us and take the blame for that loss forever.
-

Beau7890
Jan. 13, 2007, 7:52 p.m.simonsez: gravitas? I haven't seen a lack of that ever prevent anyone from becoming president. Don't really need to think too far back for an example, either.
As for your third point, it's EXACTLY the Republican strategy, even though the war's already lost. When will you learn the Republicans care absolutely nothing about the good of the country (much less the world), and that every policy they make is calculated to keep them in power?

Jan. 13, 2007, 10:33 p.m.Obama will be the choice, and Hillary will be the running mate for Vice President. Then after the elections she'll have him whacked and become President. Takes no rocket scientist to unravel that one? Then Nacny Peloski can become VP?

Jan. 13, 2007, 8:57 p.m.It's early but I don't see anyone in the republican party that I feel comfortable with. On the other hand...what are the Dems thinking?? The 2 front runners are probably unelectable. 1 is black with no experience and the other is a waffle woman. Throw all the racist/gender remarks you want at me but I'm just being a realist.
-

K10House
Jan. 13, 2007, 9:32 p.m.bigidyo - With thinking like that, we'd still have slavery and women wouldn't have the right to vote. On Monday we have a national holiday in honor of a man who inspired to us to judge by the content of one's character; just maybe Americans crave that deep down. And what do you mean 'no experience'? Who told you that? I know you didn't get it from checking out the man's record. Perhaps if you take the time to listen to him speak on the issues, you'd see that he's quite a realist himself, and not nearly as unelectable as you think. And besides, he's not 'black'; he's mixed. And smarter than anyone I've heard in Washington in years.

Jan. 13, 2007, 10:41 p.m.Hey, the Republicans ran Bob Dole against Bill Clinton. Anyone could see the outcome of that election before you even voted. Mind you Bob Dole wasn't that bad of a congressman, but he couldn't give a public speech to save his soul. It was like having a speech contest with Jerry Falwell and a person with a speech disability. Jerry knows how to deliver a sermon and a speech, so did Bill Clinton. Jerry is cool, calm, and collected about his thoughts.
This country needs to look for leaders, not just good speech makers. Sometimes our best leaders didn't have a X in all the squares but in the ones where it counted, both Democrat and Republican. I personally liked Jimmy Carter but he was surrounded by idiots. Gerald Ford was a good president. I doubt he would have been elected, in fact he had no aspirations of it, until he held the whitehouse.

Jan. 14, 2007, 4:33 p.m.You are right. The Democrats did not win an election as much as the Republicans lost. Now the Democrats have 21 1/2 months to prove their win was not a fluke. So far the Tuna Queen is not doing so well.
