The request has not yet been made public, according to the report, which quoted one official as saying the extra troops, to be backed by dozens of transport helicopters and powerful gunships, were needed to assist those on the ground now and those expected in Iraq shortly.
It said the new brigade probably will come from the Army's 3rd Infantry Division based at Fort Stewart, Ga., and be sent by May to Baghdad and western Anbar Province, where the Sunni insurgency is based

Bush's initial plans to boost U.S. strength in Iraq, announced in January, called for sending 21,500 extra combat troops but has since grown to include 2,400 more to support them and 2,200 more military police to help with an anticipated increase in detainees and other duties.

Want to bet how fast the Democrats send him what he wants. They talk, and talk, but they will give the Commander in chief whatever the Generals ask for, and blow off their anti-war leftys until they need them, oh, about Thanksgiving. Then they will pretend to be lefty again. Ms Pelosi of the botox face won't even look at the Anti-war people in her front yard.

The truth is more Americans want our troops to come home in victory. Democrats play to their left wing by pretending they are right about the war. If they truly were they would defund the war. Last time they did that they lost 49 states in the next Presidential election. The overestimated their mandate in 06. They cannot do anything, but harass Republicans. That will get old by Christmas.
