So I see the opening salvo here as an attack on the persons' family name and therefore on all people of Spanish descent. That is just great Mr. Fox. Why do you not educate the people hrer as the meaning of the family name Gonzales? You people who always talk of defending your fellow mans right to be and think different form the main stream, laugh and make jokes about a noble name like Gonzales! You people who make fun of a man with the name of Gonzales "the son of a warrior". Is your hate so strong that you live to see which of you can make the next ad hominem attack? Wait, should I even ask a question that is so obvious, of course it is and you do.

The only explanation for a Hispanic being a Repub is self service. You know he's Bush's lap dog! Don't be so naive.
Oh by the way Gonzalez does NOT mean son of a warrior. The name is patronymic, it literally means the son of Gonzalo. All names ending in "ez" are patronymic, for example Fernandez means the son Fernando. Please spare me the Spanish lessons, since it is my first language, not yours.

..it was time years ago; but, in the climate of post 911, most good Americans still tried to avoid being called unpatriotic and terrorist supporters, however wrong. The Republican spin machine is well funded and stronger than the Repugs want you to believe - until you really know that you have been duped!

It seems to me that king georges administration as a whole is guilty of high crimes against our country, our constitution and bill of rights and should be dealt with severely by the justice dept, but how can they deal with him when they are just as corrupt as he is? Then theres always congress but it seems that they authorized most of the illegal activity the bush administration has done. Then you have our supreme court (well I guess they dont follow the constitution very well either). Well theres always hope that a small asteroid will take out the whole district of corruption. (Sorry, but how else can we clean that cesspool up)? I know, we can always vote for the next republican or democrat who promisses to clean up government. With the lineup of contenders being brought forth by big corporate donors we are bound to get a great presidential candidate from at least one of the new world order folks who have been selected and authorized to serve as our leaders. (But dont bet on it).

Actually they have committed treason against the Constitution of the U.S.,which in time of war is a capital offence. What can we do....
Well, as they want to act like ******s, we must send militant proctologists to DC.When they are done there,it;s on to all of the state capitals!!!

Karl Rove is Bush's political brain. He tells Bush HOW to get things done. But Dick Cheney is the actual man behind all the corrupt policy. He tells Bush WHAT to do.

My axe to grind with Mr. Gonzales is his stone walling some elected representatives while they were investigating the two border patrol officers internment.
Many abuses have occured under his watch but lets face it, Bush has surrounded himself with these type of cronies who would subvert the constitution.
I still say something stinks concerning the two border patrol officers convictions and I sincerely hope our elected representative hold congressional hearings in regards to all Mr. Gonzales acts while in office.

the border patrol issue is nothing but a smoke screen..the guys knew they were guilty or they wouldnt have disturbed the crime scene...just like gonzoles wouldnt have stopped the investigation on himself if he was clean...this guy being fired is NOT enough,,,he still thinks he is the pres defense attorney and apparently his own obstructor

questionseverything - Apparently with your attitude you would take the word of a illegal drug smuggleer over the word of two Border patrol officers. Now that is absurd thinking on your part. Are you for open borders? Who are the criminals you so desire to avow? I would prefer to err on the side of the border patrol than a known illegal drug smuggler? Or would you disagree?

That's right John, but then again, has this administration had any regard or respect to the Constitution?

Hi death,
Ye, he wa selected for his fair and balanced approach to law enforcement and especially justice. In the attorneys firing all they had to do was tell the truth a the President does have that right but the trouble is really over the years long deception and lies of this administartion.
Ciao! :)

I guess Schumer and the New York Times were correct--Gonzales doesn't really understand his job description. He must still think he's the White House counsel.
This is amazing. Even Nixon's Attorney General, Elliot Richardson, and his deputy, William Ruckelshaus, resigned rather than obstruct the Watergate investigation at Nixon's request.

How long will we put the people put up with this crap? You can't just get rid of the top two. He has to be everyone until Speaker Pelosi. Ever since January of 2000 just when you thought you can't be surprised anymore guess what the next day, next week, next month you are. I am so tired of republicans being held to a different set of standards.

Read your Declaration of Independence.
As long a day to day life is OK for most people, and for most people it is very OK, they will put up with a lot.
So what if State, Local, and Federal Governments take 1/2 your money. The other 1/2 is enough for a house, a car, and entertainment. So you grumble a little and pay.
Lying about calls from outside the US to possible terrorists? Who does it affect? Not your ordinary Joe.

M. Simon, things do hurt the ordinary joe! Case in point: US Army Captain Yee incarcerated for 76 days in solitary confinement when he left Gitmo on vacation, all resulting in no charges and his divorce. How about the German national with the international legal case against Rummy for grabbing him on a German street and wisking him off to torture and a final admission of no guilt... or the Canadien national that the same thing happened to? And, probably many more with the ones that did die under Gonzo's definition of torture being dead and buried in an unmarked grave at one of Dubya's former secret prisons.

...like when McCain was called onto the carpet in CHENEY's office over the CIA being excluded from any restrictions on torture! Cheney, that man who chose himself to be VP. Can we accept the first Bush treasury chief's truth when he said in his book that Cheney is in charge as Dubya's span of attention is only about 15 minutes? Remember that Dubya was too busy trying to set a Presidential record for being on vacation when 911 happened.
But, the Buck has to stop somewhere! Any CEO would have been fired long before such atrocious revelations could be quadrupled over again!

I think the only surprises left would be if this administration did something to support the constitution!

...they knew what was happening and they were complicit... as long as Dubya allowed the lobbyists to write the laws that made more riches for the already rich, and those dreaming falsely of being filthy rich.
A Generation of Vipers, the book, applies today as well as it did in 1942 when it was first published.

IMpeach Cheney in the morning. Bush in the afternoon. I can put up with Pelosi until the next election. ANYTHING is better than the evil bozos we have now. It's like that serial killer that dressed up as a clown. John Wayne Gacy, I think. That's what we have as an administration.

I say let Gonzales stay but twist in the wind before Congress a little while longer. He has a number of subpoenas he will be facing as soon as Congress gets them typed and printed. I do not expect him to make the trip to the Hill to face his challengers, but I would bet the Senate has him in their chamber within two weeks.

Well, according to Dubya, Mr. A-G is the most successfully-integrated Hispanic in Texas and fully "qualified" for his job, just as Dubya is "fully qualified" to call himself an M.B.A......
But I don't think even Dubya's most perfervid supporters would have voted to introduce Mexican-style "Justice"!

As a Latin "Hispanic" I am ashamed by the token "Hispanic" in Bush's administration.
With so many well qualified candidates for the AG office, the one selected was the better puppet.

On Jan 20, 2009, we will need a large caravan of garbage trucks to haul all the filth out of our Capital. They should haul all of it to Texas where it came from. They will know how to recycle this trash!
And then we will have to fumigate all the area to make sure none of the creepy, crawly things stay behind!
