I wonder how his speech went over with the new grads. Did he start off with a joke about increasing casualties or his 5 deferments during the Vietnam era ("I had other priorities")? Did he wow them with his astute military judgment by re-visiting his "insurgency in its last throes" statement from two years ago?

I was disgusted by this self-promoting piece of garbage. How dare he. He really has no shame whatsoever.

domestic enemies? Doesn't that put him in the hot sit? So that means they are going to have to defend our country against him ? Right?

The grads that one has to feel most sorry for are those who went in feeling that all of our occupation was justified but who have come in the meantime to realize just what hypocrites comprise this administration. The enlightened grads' hands are tied. Yes, berkeley, "do as I say and not as I do..." And Cheney invoked the names of some powerful patriots and military men. Dreadful.

The oath that all officers swear allegiance to is properly stated as:"to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic." The are further enjoined later in that same oath to "obey all lawful orders" - lawful being the operative word.
The omission of the phrases "the Constitution of.." and "obey all lawful orders," by the Vice-President is an ominous if not deliberate one.

It is heartening to see other bloggers read between the lines of this abysmal character, Cheney. This draft dodger who avoided Vietnam and who is the grandest arch conservative hawk in the U.S. has the audacity to promote bravery and warmongering among first time cadets. Thats how dictators survive, usurping patriotism and nationalism to promote an agenda of globalization with the U.S. the chief decider of all.
Cheney the idiot failed to mention 9/11 had absolutely nothing to do with Iraq or the Bush failed policies. Corrupt lies and intel is what these fear mongers desire to promote. I despise these hawkish cowards for what they truely are, cowards in disguise who would send more soldiers to their death for what, nothing in the end. All Cheney types should be expunged from the earth and peace will prevail. Cheney has cahonies only in one respect, he can look into a mirror and not puke.

Wow, that whole part about them standing for everything we don't stand for...that reminds me of something...yeah, I think I heard it on Futurama "We know nothing about the enemy, what they look like, or what they believe in...all we know is that they stand for everything that we DON'T stand for...also, they told me you guys looked like dorks!" - Zapp...Funny, Cheney has been watching our liberal cartoons that parody millitary jackasses

"Our government has used every legitimate tool to counter the activities of an enemy that likely has cells inside our own country. We've improved our security arrangements, reorganized intelligence capabilities, surveilled and interrogated the enemy, and worked closely with friends and allies to track terrorist movements...
"Capture one of these killers, and he'll be quick to demand the protections of the Geneva Convention and the Constitution of the United States. Yet when they wage attacks or take captives, their delicate sensibilities seem to fall away. These are men who glorify murder and suicide. Their cruelty is not rebuked by human suffering, only fed by it. They have given themselves to an ideology that rejects tolerance, denies freedom of conscience, and demands that women be pushed to the margins of society. The terrorists are defined entirely by their hatreds, and they hate nothing more than the country you have volunteered to defend."

LiberalsSmell----"All the above bloggers have written sentiments which comprise the greatest threat to American success. Which side do you choose liberals? Where do your loyalties lie?"
Our loyalties lie with the welfare of our country and its people. Not with just the wealthy as in the case of our current administration. "American success" cannot be defined by occupying a country that does not want us and squandering lives and money and being too obtuse to make adjustments. If you can't grasp this, then I question your sentiments and patriotism.

Nice Avatar and name, very fascist of you, wrapping yourself in the flag of patriotism.
"The terrorists are defined entirely by their hatreds, and they hate nothing more than the country you have volunteered to defend."
Well, to a rational human being this certainly sounds like primo propaganda. I would like to suggest that since terrorism has increased globally since your oil grab in Iraq that perhaps the terrorists do not hate the country so much as those who use the country's armies for personal gain. According to your own papers there are many more terrorism plots uncovered now inside the fatherland then at any time in the past. Most people would look at this as an incredibly failed foreign policy and yet some of you still cling to the illusions that you are winning. In my world, if the enemy continues to grow stronger and more numerous the longer you fight him then he is winning and your strategy sucks and needs to be changed. Cons seem to think this is winning.

Why not choose a flag as your avatar? I'm thinking something red, with a hammer and sickle...
Your entire post would be laughable but for the fact that so many other liberals share your limited views and twisted ideology.
It's sad because you fail to understand that radical islam is headed your way too, neighbor. But you have the luxury of living in your delusional "own world" because the radicals believe the greatest way to please allah is to destroy American cities. So while Ontario would be a decent strike, it wouldn't carry the significance of another attack on New York. So you can make silly little remarks and look upon my flag with disdain, but I wear that flag with pride and understand it represents more than just my country of heritage.
And are you trying to make the argument that terrorism is increasing globally becuase Bush wanted oil? Why do I even bother? Friggin waste of time you are....
