as well as her religious devotion to socialism..what should be really troubling about hillary is that while she is a sitting senatorand running for president..she and bill are getting huge amounts of money from dubai and the saudis--tens of millions--donations to campaigns are one things..and they've given her millions in cash as well as sevices..but she is literally on the payroll of dubai for a least 2 million a year..and could be 10-20 times that much--its all personal income as well and she still will not disclose her tax records as well as bills--i see a lot of speculation here about the connection between the bushes and the folks--hillary makes that look like peanuts--so if hill gets in..we will have a pres and a whatever literally oswnd by the saudis and dubai--and dubai produces about half of the gas iran imports--but im sure the libs here will ignore this and point out this or that about bush--bush isnt running for anything now tho--hillary and bill are

I agree that it's highly problematic that Clinton is so tied to the oil industry. She is also tied to the Israeli lobby and to the coal and nuclear industries and to military contracters and, just as bad; to the DLC. I'm not sure, yet of Obama's alegiances but his posturing on Iran and his apparent support for the U.S. "first strike" policy are cause for concern.
Bill Clinton's administration was one of the most disasterous presidencies prior to the current one and I don't hear either Barak or Hillary distancing themselves from Bill Clinton's policies on Free Trade, foreign policy, the social safety net and media deregulation. Defeating Bush's inheritor will, indeed seem like a hollow victory if our choice is between these two ( hollow, but no less necessary).

I never voted for Clinton. I voted Libertarian in those elections (once for Ron Paul for President, when he ran on the Libertarian ticket.) I voted for Gore in 2000 and I have never doubted, based upon the abundant evidence, that the election was stolen from him by Repugnant operatives at the County and State levels in Florida.
I am hoping that Gore will run again and knock these people out of the picture.
I don't know a single person who likes Hillary and I find it hard to believe that these polls are accurate. Obama is in my opinion a stealth candidate. Not much is known about him. He is a charismatic speaker but some of his positions are vexing - as you have pointed out in your post. As more is known about him, people will probably discover that he's another corporatist.
The best way to stop Dumbya was the best choice in 2000 and 2004. IMHO, Gore is the best choice today.

There's no speculation about the ties between Bush and the Saudis. Any other suggestion is a lie.

ningyo can't explain why Dubai is giving Hillary $2 million a year because it's untrue.
Unfortunately, ningyo demonstrates exactly why Hillary can never be president. If she were the Democratic candidate, her presence would galvanize the opposition--there are still enough rabid Clinton-haters around from the '90s to spread these kinds of lies en masse, driving Democratic turnout down and Republican turnout to new highs.

As well as your typical devotion to Repugnant talking points, what should really be troubling about Hillary is the fact that she's a closet Repugnant and always has been. She consults regularly with the biggest corporations in America - who finance her campaign - and notwithstanding her lip service, she's a big proponent of expanding H1B visas to insource cheap labor where corporations haven't already expatriated their industrial capital - further undermining American workers.
As far as Dubai and Saudi Arabia, nobody holds a candle to the Bush Crime Family when it comes to selling out America to these sponsors of Islamic extremism and terror organizations like al Qaeda. It is estimated that in the last three decades alone, the Bush's have received more than $60 billion from the Saudi's.
The fact is, the Clintons and the Bush's are in bed together and have been for many years. To wit,

not at all.
i dont say this as a Hill backer... its just that presidents recently do not USuALLY have an obscene amout of qualification. She was actively involved in her husbands politics, thats no secret... which puts her as an inside policy maker for a governship, a presidency, and her own senate tenure (on her second term now.) that is mroe qualification than most presidents have had.
Reagan had nothing. a governorship he got because of his celebrity and former position in SAG.
Kennedy, was a senator, and other than that, nothing more than his fathers son.
while we're speaking of father's sons, GWB was SUPREMELY unqualified. Texas was handed to him for his name, and that was it. He didnt even TRY to be a grown-up until his mid 30's and then just failed a bunch of businesses... not bashing him, thats just the truth.
Clinton was WAY too young by most standards.
LBJ & Nixon had resumes but sucked.
Bush 41 was the only qualified president we've had in a while.

"long-time senators" ? -- hardly
the longer you are in the Sen the more votes come back to haunt you, or time you ahve to say something stupid... and as we learned with the way the GWB campaign handled Kerry (a long-tmie senator, who at this point in his campaign was NOT leading), the more votes come up on similar bills with different stipulations, you vote some down and some up based on the timnig or the approriations or whatever... and those look like "flip-flops" to an uninformed public and you look indecisive. the concept that an bill may change, or an issue might change, or even your MIND might legitamitely change is out the window. its a "flip-flop" and you are therefor unelectable.
Senators have only been successful in campaigns when they were reletively NEW to the Senate.
on paper, Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person out there, except Gore who isnt running, and maybe McCain for his length of tenure and military serv.

BIll richardson is pretty qualified too. i remembered that he did a lot of clinton brokering and was an ambassador before he was governor... and admittedly i dont know much about the republican contenders except for the big three, and of them, McCain is the only one with national bragging rights on his resume.

As usual, the "Big Story" is the horse race for the nomination. This enables the press to skip any discussion of the issues facing the nation and the vital public decisions we, as a people, must make.

Still nothing to get exceited about. Early in the campaign season polls show voter name recognition more than anything else and now Obama is starting to become known so his poll numbers will be increasing.
As we get near October/November then there will start to be impact on the polls because of issues and stands on issues. The one that may carry all till then is the statement Hillary made in this last debate about us being safer than we were. Sounds more like something you would hear from a Bush supporter rather than a democrat and may hurt her substantially.

So... they are TIED for "most unelectable" candidate. Big deal. Will we start hearing about anyone soon that wouldn't have to rig and steal an election in order to win it?

What is scary is the amount of blatant prejudice aimed at an intelligent, solid U.S. citizen with great ideas and a willingness to serve, who happens to be a person of color. Dry up! Hillary, as a woman, also falls prey to your bias and your comment that she is totally out of control is laughable!

You mean like Bush was "qualified?" I guess you have a point considering the terrible mess he got us into.
Maybe Obama as VP under someone with experience. Then he can run after two terms for president. Hopefully by then he won't have had all his optimism and idealism completely beaten out of him.

This is encouraging. I would love to see a female president but Hillary is just a bit too much of a Barbie doll princess. The whole business over Geffen's donations, not admitting the war vote was wrong, not really taking strong stands...she's not the one.

theres truth to that. thats why colin powell never ran. his wife made him promis he wouldnt. its a shame.
but we need a serious black candidate to run... and if he doesnt get the nomination it may pave the way for a safe election of a black pres in the future...
the situation frightens me too... how awful that would be for our country...
never say it cant get anyworse i guess.

You mean like the 500 billion wasted by Bush on his personal government programs?
Interesting. We go into the worst debt the country's ever been in to cover Bush's private war and put money in the pockets of people with pockets already overflowing, but should Democrats seek to raise taxes to pay back the debt, they're somehow anti-patriotic? Ridiculous.

If common sense ruled the day, the Daily Kos Democrats, with Markos Moulitsas Zúniga leading the charge, would use their "netroot" power to yank the bottom out of the Democrat party and thus send a message to Rahm Emanuel and his ilk. But this will not happen. Daily Kos Dems are emotionally wedded to the party, never mind the self-destructive irrationality of this marriage.
Am I alone in thinking it peculiar that a newspaper in a foreign country should think it both appropriate and possible to get all the leading candidates for the U.S. presidential nominations of both parties to compete, on a biweekly basis and in writing, in displaying the intensity of their allegiance to that foreign country -- and that all of these candidates should deem it both appropriate and essential to their hopes of remaining a leading candidate that they should participate in this degrading exercise in competitive obeisance?

WOW, our choice is dumb or dumber - Osama rhymes with OBAMA did what ,,, ummmm lets see he .. ummm .. well he ..... ummmmm OH I KNOW - HE LOOKS LIKE A SUAVE BLACK MAN !! yeah -yeah and he dresses well ! So - that should get him the nod.....
Did you hear the IDIOTIC COMMENTS FROM THE DEMS on Sunday - if they could BOMB OSAMA - but cost a couple civilian lives - would you - and they got their panties all in a wad on that one ....
Hillary ,, come on - you really want her to " BE THE RULER OF THE MOST POWERFUL NATION " under ( are we still ok to say GOD ? )
GET A CLUE LIBERAL DEMS - wake up and come on over to the other side and REJOICE !

Considering that "a couple civilian lives" as collateral damage has turned into hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian lives due to the war in Iraq.. I can see why anyone who considers themselves to be a Christian, or Buddhist, or athiest with morals and a love of life would "get their panties all in a wad."
You, like corporate America, are devaluing human life. It's disgusting.

Was not Bush in the oil business with the help, financially, of the Bin Laden family. Isnt our sitting "vice" president a past ceo of Halliburton corp. thats in charge of running a war! And isnt Halliburton in charge of maintaining Walter Red Hospital, and other military hospitals maintenance programs. We dealt with total corruption and inept government for 7 years, and everyone can find fault with a woman or caramel colored candidate?

Well its scary thats for sure, but I think John Edwards is going to pull a shocker and be their leading candidate!!! TO be honest, Im more afraid of Edwards then Hillary, as for Obama.... not a chance..... Edwards is a excellent trial attorney, and the only candidate that could handle him on the republican side would be Guilianni another attorney!! Should be interesting to say the least...... GO RUDY!!!

Whoever is not the professional politician and has a vision of renewed vigor for America should be the one to consider as President.
Hillary fails on all the above requirements.
Obama, to soon to tell.
Independent candidate, step forward if you are out there, the country needs you if you are truely representing the idea of, "Public Servant".
Fred Thompson - Have to laugh at that one. The Republicans are so desperate to have a Bush parody, he fits. The evangelicals would never vote a mormon candidate, a candidate who advocates a womans right to choose or what they perceive as a leaning Democratic Republican, McCain.
I still think with Fred Thompson you get the same administration and thoughts of what we have now, Bush. America will reject this attempt by Republicans to have a Hollywood star lead them to victory. Conservative religious hawks are so desperate, go ahead and put up for election, DeLay or better yet Cheney.

Carter did some good. He didn't shine, that's for certain. He is, however, one of the best ex-presidents we've ever had. Clinton did a lot. Only whiny RepugnantCons seem to dislike him based on his infidelity. I guess they don't know about Bush Sr's mistress of many, many years.

It's amazing we still see prejudice statements about whether we are ready for a black or even a women president. I'm ready for a good president that puts all people before greed. I don't think the sex or race of a person should matter at all. If you don't want to vote for them because you don't like there policies that's one thing but based on sex or race that's just sad.
