    From the article:

"The committees can easily obtain the facts they want without a confrontation by simply accepting our offer for documents and interviews,"White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Wednesday. "But it's clear that Sen. Leahy and Rep. Conyers are more interested in drama than facts))

Why don't i believe that? What about this statement makes me feel like they want the committees to request 'doctored' documents or will receive well rehearsed statements?

If you ever get arrested you might run that arguement (simply accept my word for it your honor we don't need an oath or anything) by the judge and see how well it flies.

The investigation by majority Democrats is fueled by their contention that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has, in effect, allowed the White House to make major political decisions for the traditionally independent Justice Department. The firings of eight federal prosecutors over the winter, Democrats say, was an example of improper political influence.

      "traditionally independent Justice Department"

Traditional? Since when has the Justice Department, under the President been independent of politics?

It must have been before President Washington

Recess appointment of a Judge, it doesn't get any more political than that.

President George Washington appointed South Carolina judge John Rutledge as Chief Justice of the United States during a congressional recess in 1795.

On August 11, 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt named Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. to the United States Supreme Court through a recess appointment.

The sheer arrogance of Perino and Tony Snow reinvigorates a deep loathing of what this White House is. Only an indoctrinaire of Fox News/fat druggie/Hannity would accept this idiocy. What doesn't the White House not understand about the subpoena power of Congress? The Democrats were voted into control of Congress by the people. Congress has spoken.

Just keep digging your hole deeper right wingers. November 2008 is coming and it will not be pleasant for you. Sweet justice for the people!

Just saw this story on CNN--they won't have to answer any question that Bush doesn't want them to.

I'm pretty sure they "won't recall" just about everything that happened in the last several years, as well.

Humm, If there was a bunch of circumstantial evidence that I had robbed the bank down the street, do ya think the cops would agree to an off the record, no transcripts, no recordings informal chat with me. Hell NO! They would show up with a warrant in hand and grill me till they got to the truth.

Mr. Bush, you as President are not ABOVE the law, you are responsible for seeing that it is enforced.

And not ONLY responsible but DEDICATED to seeing that it is enforced!

Or something like that :)! Presumably the President takes some kind of an oath to uphold the law when he gets sworn in??

Even more egregious than the firing of the US attorneys is the midnight ride to the hospital. That alone should be enough to get Gonzales gone and it points straight to the White House.

The whole gang needs to be gone.

Then why aren't we doing it? I don't understand why this has to go on and on. Just do it. Get them out of office. The disgusting pigs need to learn that they can't get away with stealing control of the biggest economy in the world.

        Please!
