President George W. Bush refused to rule out a pardon for former White House aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby on Tuesday, a day after sparing him from prison in a case that helped seal Bush's Iraq legacy and gave ammunition to Democrats.

And what a legacy it will be.

    Torture

    Illegal wiretaps

    Habeus Corpus suspended

    Signing Certificates

    Ignoring the law

    Subverting the constitution

    Invading sovereign countries.

Lying to the American public and the world at large

Letting New Orleans rot while Halliburton grows fat and sassy

    Secret prisons

    Extraordinary renditions

    Open ended imprisonment without charges.

That's quite a body of work and he's still got 18 months to go.

Don't forget that these great achievements are all being financed by....our children via the massive debt that this administration has run up.

But hey, the ultra-richest got a nice tax break!

Carter is forgettable, really just an extension of the bumbling Ford.

Clinton isn't even in Bush's league wen it comes to perjury(Libby) corruption( Cheney) incompetence( Rumsfeld) with the arrogance of the neo-cons and law-breaking of the entire cabal like administration.

This adminstration even tops Nixon when it comes to who's worst. Heck, a lot of Bushies got their start with the Nixon crew. I guess there were all the wrong lessons learned.

The great irony of the Bushies is they came into office attempting to create the new American century, and may have doomed the country instead. That's the tragedy.

President Bush is the most hated President according to left wing bloggers which are hardly representative of the national view. They say it,it must be so. Did you ever stop to think how reviled the leftists are in this society? This doesn't seen to stop them from their anti American rhetoric. I don't think what those bloggers have to say effects the President much either. In fact, what they say is so insignificant it hardly is worth merit in the radical terrorist press.

Strange isn't it, the commutation of Libby's prison sentence seals Bush's legacy, while "commutation Clinton" with 10 times the number of get out of jail free cards means nothing. Well, if only the most die hard right winger remembers this I hardly think this one commutation will hurt Bush. So another totally biased political piece of garbage is sunk.

You either can't read or have difficulty with comprehension, I said the "world", dipstick. Your rhetoric represents your opinion, and after reading some of your remarks on other threads, I don't think many here place much stock in your opinion. You obviously live in a cave in another time zone. And Bush doesn't seem to care much what anyone thinks of him, not even his daddy.

MajJohn, you are suffering a major delusion. At best Bush's approval ratings are about 30%. Nearly 50% believe he should be impeached. Bush/Cheney is teetering on the crumbling edge. You need to turn the channel and watch something other than Fux Noise.

Bush will not suffer from this decision because most people realize that Plame testified under oath before Congress and couldn't claim that she was a covert operative.

you have a point there. Compared to the OTHER disasters of this administration, the not too astute political decision to out her (whether she was "covert" or not) is a minor blip.

The Hillbilly *hore Hopper pardoned 144 people the day he left. Most were sold to drug dealers, petty thieves, and that old Pedophile Mel Reynolds from Illinois. Mr Libbly was railroaded, there was no crime, and he forgot, he did not lie. Republicans wanted Scooter pardoned, but this will do until the appeal is finished. President Bush is a good, decent person who knew it was wrong to send him to prison. Sandy Burgler is wandering around free. Burgler stole secret documents that would have proven the Impeached One did nothing about Osama bin Laden, and he destroyed them. Let't see some prison time for that traitor. No? Then don't even mention Scooter Libby

Such a brilliant post. Why not beat a dead horse from over a decade ago. Libby was railraoded. LOL. Committing perjury is not a crime huh. I guess in the neocon world. This was the classic one though. Bush is a good, decent person. A traitor to the United States and a war criminal is not a good person. I'd love to see how high our founding fathers would hang this piece of garbage.

I don't think most of the country considered Clinton's actions as life threatening or dangerous to this nation and its people. Bush on the other hand, has systematically reduced our rights and chipped away at the constitution until it represents nothing anymore. Bush has committed so many anti-american, anti-democracy, anti-human rights violations on top of lying to congress, lying to the american people and to top it off, through his lies and deceptions, caused the deaths and injuries to countless american soldiers. He has single handedly created more contempt around the globe against our nation and what it really stood for. This man is reviled and hated for his actions, and inactions, and being a completely dishonest human being. He must be retarded in some major way. I think he bought that 100,000 acres ranch in paraguay because he knows he won't be welcome here anymore. He's a piece of $hit and so is anyone who defends his actions. Hang the traitor!

A man is known of God by his "Works"., Bush's legacy is of lies, deceit, greed, murder, mahyem, megalomania. George is of the devil because of his works. Unfortunately, the world regards as "The Great Satan" because of men like george.

Hey you dumb Conservatives, the difference between Clinton's pardons and the Bush/Libby pardon is that Clinton DID NOT pardon anyone in a case that might directly relate to him. Morons...

Exactly. Though legal in itself, this pardon is part of a cover-up.

Bush has every right to pardon Libby, and in fact he should. This is not unheard of and it has been done in the past, if Bush would have just a better public image this wouldn't hit the fan.

I guess it doesn't hurt, since Libby knows where the bodies are buried either. And the sting will come at the end, when the next tyrant, pardons all of Bush's misdoings.

I am a registered Republican (for now) and I feel compelled to say that I am outraged at Bush's behavior here (though not surprised). I am seriously considering bolting the GOP, but the Democratic party doesn't offer me much. I might have to try a third party like Libertarian, but my vote would then lose much of its clout.

I sincerely hope Colin Powell can find the courage to do what Mike Bloomberg did, and then have the 2 of them run for Prez & VP for 2008. Now THERE's a ticket!

Your comment rings true, too true. It seems that the only people enjoying the "party", are the guys playing the game, which doesn't include us. Party doesn't matter much when both sides are playing for the same team, themselves.

I remember as a child the "Amos & Andy" show. Kingfish would tell Andy a big lie look at him to see if Andy bought the lie & then smile. Bush reminds me of Kingfish hoping we would buy the big lies, it worked for about a year or two but our populace is much brighter than Andy ever was & we're not buying Bush's astonishing disregard for the will of the people anymore.

The end in sight. It is Jan 20, 2009 when the bunch of crooks who took over Washington will finally leave.

Americans better be careful not to put another bunch of crooks led by Guilani Or McCain in to power again in 2008.

Sometimes I think Justice could do better without the blind fold. Bush's action has made It clear that he and Cheney are in this up to their neck.

Justice, or rather, lady liberty, is blindfolded holding the scales of justice. Now the view of lady liberty, for Bush, shows her cupping her ball$ and putting a gun to her own head. She is ashamed. But frankly, if we went into the hanging crooked politicans mode, we might not have enough rope. How many trees on the white house lawn, anyway? And the statue of liberty is holding up both hands, in the "stop em" position, exposing really hairy armpits, (she is french after all-ooo-la la," No mas mejicano complacen"

Hang the traitor. You are right sandmn He and his Mafia should be arrested and their assets seized. The ones that have charge of that need to take action and now. There should be some emergency clause, amendment or something in the constitution providing that and if the supreme judges will not act on it, then maybe they need to be cited as traitors also. What I am saying here, is never mind what skeletons you elected and appointed have. Do the right logical thing and rid our country of this crack head and his demons.
