Posted by: trnscndr 1 year, 1 month agoThe first thing that comes to mind is this generic notion being reported in the mainstream media that the entire government suffers from the same levels of perceptions that they are "doing nothing" or "ignoring the will of the people." (This article sums up the key polling data from several sources in a way the mainstream med

I'm asking myself so many times that ... maybe people are too lazy to see and from others sources -that's one of answers.
They just turn on CNN (I wish that all informative editorial burn in hell there - they really deserve that ! ) , FOX NEWS ( this is even worser ...) , ect
Like you said only mainstream media isn't corrupted for now.
And why almost no one looking mainstream media ??They are just too little to fight with ' giants of lies '!

The real reason you probably don't see multiple polls side by side is that most news outlets have branded partnerships with their polling organizations, so they want to make sure that there is brand loyalty to a given poll, and polling methodology.

So, what have they done? Don't you think when we are polled we know if Congress has done something in our best interest? We get their mailing that tell what they would like to do, but I think we should also know what they have done. We are paying them big bucks, and they are not delivering.

Try reading the article, then get back to me. No one here is suggesting any partisan finding. It is just that interestingly, no one has pointed out that as low as the Congress numbers are, the GOP congress members are 21 while Dems are 31 (that is 1/3 higher).
The idea their is gridlock could as easily cause the electorate to deliver a mandate the next time. If they want something truly "done" they have to decide who is going to do it. Clearly the polls suggest they have much more confidence in the Dems than the GOP to address the problems.
PS- I have heard you loudly and clearly, you don't like what they have done, so you prefer to say they have done nothing. The key to doing nothing is in Bush's hands. Bills have been passed and he has vetoed them. Or Senate is unable to get the magic 60 votes it takes to truly do something.
It just amazes me that media ignores the disproportionate DIS-satisfaction with the GOP.

aniokly,
Re: "I think we should also know what they have done. We are paying them big bucks, and they are not delivering."
In most if not all cable tv markets, you can watch C-SPAN.
The program is aired 'live' daily and It shows us what their interests are, what bills Congress is working on, voting on, etc.

Thanks trnscndr, for putting all the polls in one place! The polls listed all in one place is a powerful statement that will have some politicians crying!
Expecting this to be done by the media, is like expecting a politician to really answer a question, instead of tap-dancing past the answer and only focusing on their own personal message. Our politicians are not representing the People, like what has happened to real reporting of the news?

I suspected as much. The GOP is obstructing the work of Congress. So, in 2008 the voters will have to decide. Should the Democrats' agenda be allowed to move forward, or were the conservatives correct in being obstructionists?

21% huh? Makes you wonder why CONS keep blocking legislation. Maybe bush has em believing it's only the democrats the polls are talking about, lol. 2008 is going to be a hoot come voting time.

Partisan politics! Both parties do it. If they really wanted to serve the people they would vote over the presidents veto. That won't happen because the party in power won't vote against the president. How is this serving the interests of the electorate?

It's a GOP tactic, especially in the Senate, tie up Democratic legislation, delay, and obstruct, until 08 when they hope they can reclaim a majority, and move forward with the conservative agenda.

Propaganda is in tune with polling. Check out the numbers for Fox news Polls. Now that should say it all.
Hard to imagine that over twenty percent of Americans accept Mr. Bush as their leader and accept the war. Quite perplexing in that I do not know what to do, laugh or cry?
Where are the good old days where being public spirited was an attribute, now it's how many trinkets and money each person can acquire illegally. I will not say where I work but I will say this, volunteer help and assisting others is passe when you compare it to today's society. It's all about the, "Money". Give it all to your god and see if he smiles when its your time.

I wonder what would happen if they worked together for the citizens (for the people). 27 27 might equal 54!

Polls are true when they make me feel good.
Polls are false when they make me feel bad.
The real deal for me? It sometimes can be a reality check.
Lately, I've felt the polls regarding congressional performance showed that John Q hadn't been paying attention.
I've Got to admit it. My attention span is in direct proportion to the weight of the subject. So give me Numbers.
Weighted numbers! And if they make me feel good?....Then they're true.

Interesting poll results. The Republicans swept into power on the mantra that government is incompetent at everything it tries to do. They then increased the size and incursion of government into every area of American life.,
They seem to have succeeded admirably in proving that, when they are in charge of government, the inevitable ineptitude of government is the truth.

These polls prove one thing: about 25-30% of our population belongs in an asylum for collective psychosis.

Hmm. The poll I saw has Comngress at 22%, Dems at 21% and Reps. at 20%. So you can rig a poll to say anything you want. That is why no true leader leads by polls. Any poll depends on how many respondents you use, how many are Dems, Reps, and Inds, and where you poll. Americans, as individuals, know if the Congress is doing anything, and this Congress is doing nothing.

I don't consider bias news sources worth wasting my time. Put up a reputable source if you want people to read the whole thing.

Aniokly, You constantly quote Fox and you have a problem with the Harris Poll and every other scientifically reputable polling organization there is. It even included Fox which, proves you just love to run your mouth without actually reading articles. Say something or shut up; those are the choices! If you say something, back it up!
PS Ani- I hate to take you away from shopping at flea markets for Elvis paraphernalia.

While my own personal observations agree with the polling data - the article could have included more information to support the conclusion. For example, the margin of error for each poll and the number of people surveyed would be nice to see.
