You can lead a horse's ass to Washington, but the truth?

Politics – Senator Patrick Leahy has decided he is going to subpoena Karl Rove to testify before congress. Well, it's about time. But according to Whitehouse Spokesperson Tony Snow, he has already offered himself up in such a way that "he would tell the truth" only under the condition that he not be sworn, documented and that he be free to hide one

I love the pics! And of course, he will lie. He knows no other way, but these lies will finally be ones for which he is legally accountable. There is a difference, and call me naive, but it's a step in the right direction. Something may come of it.

He's a poor excuse for an American. To me he is no better than the terrorist because of his actions. He should be kicked out of the country as far as I am concerned.

avatar
Reply

Who would take him? Maybe he could just be sent into perpetual orbit with his hotlline to the WH amputated.

I liked the pics. too T, esp. KR cocking a snook!

avatar
Reply

I think he'd rather be snooking... Ah never mind ;)

Yes, I believe I understood your drift.. and probably not far off the mark but I care a lot less about his preferences than his malevolent and vituperative aspects.

The legally accountable part is what the White House is trying to avoid. After all, they have been lying so long about so much, lying has become a very useful "executive privilege."

No matter how they spin it, if they were going to tell the truth, they wouldn't resist being under oath or fear all the legal ramifications of lying.

These people are sleazier than Nixon's White House, and are not afraid to show it. Who's gonna stop 'em?

OH?? How many soldiers has Sen. Leahy sent to die needlessly? How many lies has told to the United Nations and to the world? How many billions has Halliburton siphoned off to his pockets? How many moderate muslims has he converted into rabid anti-American terrorists? Was Leahy the one to call off the hunt for bin Laden? Was he the one that insulted the Iranians after they helped topple bin Laden and the Taliban by calling them part of the axis of evil? Was he the one to ignore offers of help early in the war from the UN, France, and Russia? Was he in on the secret discussions with oil executives in Cheney's office to decide environmental policies? Was Leahy the one who appointed Brown to head up the FEMA and cause such a mess in New Orleans? Was he the one to order spying on US citizens and torture of prisoners of war? Was he the cause of the astronomical budget deficit and national debt?

Not only are Bush, et al, horse's asses, they are dumb asses.

... I think I love you. Brilliant, and you've hit it dead bull's eye here. It's more than obvious that we need a change in the government, but (as it seems to me) no matter the vote count this 'shit stain' on the floors of our once great WH isn't coming up so easily. It gives me a headache every time I hear anything about this so-called "administration" on the news anymore. How did we get like this as a nation? There appears to be intelligence in this country, logic and reason as well; just no one is listening. No one wants to, I suppose. I can't even pull a "vote for the lesser of two evils and hope everyone else does too" attitude anymore. I'm simply sickened by all of this ****** taking place in our country. Not only do we go and run through other countries, we have to act as if we were so damned great and wonderful that it's justified. Spare me. You've got something there Sinophil49, and I like it.

"If you wish to know the truth about a man, see not how he treats his rulers, nor his equals, nor anyone who can return any wrongs done them. See how he treats his servants, those who are in his power, for this is where the evil in a man will show itself". Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince.

Applying this to the Bush Administration, ther eis only one possible conclusion that can be reached..that is, if you are interested in thinking for yourself, rather than letting Rush Limbaugh do it for you.

We could dance around with a pair of panties on our head like at Gitmon, play some loud music, give out some Koran's, Prayer Rugs, 3 Squares a day, health insurance...

Hell, why would anyone want to live back in Iraq when you have Gitmo? It's more like a Marriott than a prison, but as you libs already know....America is EVIL !!! Blame America ! Rove is the anti-Christ...

LMAO ! YOu libs crack me up...

I have been so fortunate to discover so many geniuses as a result of this simple piece. How could I have been so blind?

So, everyone in Iraq want to go to Gitmo, away from their families and relative freedom so they can get "3 squares and medical care at Gitmo".

I see; we are doing Iraq a favor to destroy their country and to try to destroy their faith. And Rove is just a good Christian for lying because the ends (killing, maiming and terrorizing millions of Muslim women, children and working men) was all worth it to flush out a few terrorist that WE created. Now, I get it.

Thanks! I can see Florida is still producing the same quality of grads as its rich history indicates. Go Simpletonoles!

"Hell, why would anyone want to live back in Iraq when you have Gitmo"

This statement is the perfect example of neocon logic. Freedom means nothing. Its all about control. Beyond that, it is a completely reprehensible, disgusting thing to say. But El Drugbo style neocons blurt this kind disgusting (yet revealing) drabble out on a regular basis.

If you really believe your own statement, why do you live in the US? Shouldn't you live in China or North Korea?

"We don't torture people" Rather than ask, How do "they" define "Torture" , the real important question ought to be, How do they define the word "People"

It's my understanding that they view detainees as not "People" and in doing so, they believe that they are actually making true statements, when they state, "We Don't Torture People". Well, in their warped universe anyway.

With GWB, Cheney, Rove, Gonzales, etc.,it's all a matter of semantics.

Comparably speaking, what they do to our troops over in Iraq is NOTHING...And I mean, NOTHING compared to the treatment they received at Gitmo...But yet you libs always tend to empathize with them and not our troops...Why is that ? And why don't we EVER hear the disdain for the other side and their inhumane treatment of our soldiers and their own people...What about Saddam ? Never heard one peep out of you pathetic libs about his treament of the Kurds and the mass graves they discovered after we removed him from power...Why is that, liberals ? What is your fascination with blaming America, our troops, and President Bush ? Do you hate it so much here ?

Then friggin leave ! If things are so bad here, and the economy sucks (according to you libs), and your civil liberties have been inapproprately violated (which is horsechit)and Bush and his evil cronies are sooooooooooo bad, then get the F out...Go live in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan...Please, I beg you...

Would it be more PC, Tessylo to say "mission from Buddah or Allha ?

Whatever is good for YOUR agenda...

FSU-why say Buddah or Allah ? YOU say in your bio YOU are on a mission from God, you were sent by God.

Hey clueless? Read the whole sentece, will ya? Do you see what follows the line that you so coveniently left out ? Just like a liberal to twist the facts...You know that word "ha" that follows? What does the word "ha" imply, wolfie? Funny, joke...You know..."ha-ha !" ...perhaps implying laughter...

You libs have no sense of humor...I also put "Blues Brothers" by that statement hoping you libs would somehow get it since it was a statement made over and over in the movie...

You need to get out more....

BTW, I am a Christian and proud of it...Just like YOU'RE a liberal and proud of it...Nothing wrong with either, but I'm sure you're hatred for us Christians is just as pronounced as your hatred for Bush...

From your tone, FSU, I would say your bio, whether humorous or not, is rather eyeopening to anyone who has ever studied Freud. You claim to be a Christian but hate liberals? You DO realize that Jesus was a liberal, don't you?

Gotta admit that your bio does have a tongue-in-cheek feel to it.

avatar
Reply

LMAO! Just a minute...I have to wipe the tears away from the laughter...

Jesus a liberal ? And you know that how, exactly?

You can be a Christian and still disagree with someone's beliefs...Jesus didn't like the Pharisee's beliefs if you remember and I do recall in the Bible where Jesus smashed things up pretty bad in a mosque where it was suppose to be a place of prayer and worship and instead became a "den of robbers"...

So, please spare me with your Christian knowledge...You're embarrassing yourself...

BTW..I still love you guys, just don't agree with the way you think and I personally believe you have been misled by various media outlets, because of that, you liberals are leading this country into the crapper...

Sheep will be sheep...You're just following the wrong shepard, my friend...You've been had...

avatar
Reply

You don't believe Jesus was a liberal? Think about it.

- His 1st miracle was changing water into wine

- He taught love, peace & forgiveness

- He preached "Love your enemy" & "turn the other cheek"

- He promoted charity &, basically, social responsibility

- He hung out with thieves, prostitutes, & tax collectors

- And the ones he threw out of the temple were the "big business" money changers, merchants & thieves

avatar
Reply

Yes, PapaWolf, Jesus did these things, but liberals don't. They only say they do to garner votes from the poor and the "sinners". I have yet to see the liberals include them in their social circles or neighborhoods, or to socialize with them or move into their neighborhoods. They rarely even give to help these people, but they don't hesitate to put their hands in my pockets and give my money to them. Nice try, but liberals are the epitomy of hypocrisy.

avatar
Reply

WHAT!? OK you are totally insane. The "liberal" people that I know here in Chicago are the ones who live in the changing neighborhoods. They are also the ones who are going to the soup kitchens and helping the truly needy.

Also, most of the gay community is "liberal" as you say. And we are the only ones who helped during the AIDS crisis and continue to be the only source for funding and research.

So don't you tell me that Bush is gonna be at a soup kitchen any time soon. Or that Rove spent the night holding babies with AIDS at a hospital because it just isn't going to happen.

Idiot!

avatar
Reply

>>liberals don't. They only say they do to garner votes from the poor and the "sinners".

Don't know who you're talking about, but none of my liberal friends need anyone's votes. And we all do what we can to help.

And you talk about hypocrisy but neglect to mention W's own chest thumping about his Christianity, but he pushes for cuts in social services, cuts in health care, pushes us into an illegal & needless war, and on and on and on. And sits idly by while the numbers living at or below the poverty level in this country hits record heights.

avatar
Reply

Meanwhile, rich and upper middle class liberals are sitting around hardly lifting a finger of their own (if you don't believe me, check the Clintons' and the Gores' charitable contributions - it's a matter of public record) but want to use the oppressive mechanism of gov't. to pick everyone elses' pockets, give it to the "poor" and then take credit for it (and thus garner votes). I believe what we have here is a difference in core values. I believe it is MY responsibility to help my neighbor, not the Gov't's. Welfare (gov't) encourages poverty. Again, we have spent $5T in the last 40 years on "poverty" and by your own admission "the numbers living at or below the poverty level in this country hits record heights." Something's wrong with this picture, and it ain't Bush... And healthcare has become a corrupt farce since the introduction of (gov't) medicare and medicaid, but that's another discussion.

avatar
Reply

Then you are a liberal.

avatar
Reply

Well, then, to quote (or paraphrase) one of the modern quintessential politicians, "It depends on what the definition of 'liberal' is." I believe in giving people a helping hand when they need it (we all do at times). I don't believe in giving them a handout (although there are times when even that is necessary). The idea that socialism = equality is absurd. About the only thing socialism has ever accomplished is bringing misery to everyone. Case in point - the Carter era. Jimmy was so hell-bent on leveling the playing field and undermining capitalism in America that someone actually introduced the "misery index" which was the sum of umemployment inflation interest rates, all of which were in double digits. The American dream, which, by the way, is not getting to the top of the heap at others expense, as liberals espouse, but is more accurately about having the opportunity to live up to your potential. The rest is up to you.

avatar
Reply

But you have to admit that Carter may have made some bad decisions as President, but he wasn't a criminal. He didn't commit felony after felony and dare the congress to stop him. His staff didn't commit felony after felony. He didn't have to replace his spokesperson over and over because the media could start to tell when they were lying. Carter also didn't invade a country without provocation.

He may have made bad decisions, but Carter wasn't a criminal.

avatar
Reply

And you really can't give Carter ALL the blame for the high interest rates, etc. After all, he inherited all those soldiers & the slow-down in military manufacturing caused by Nixon's "cut & run" from Viet Nam.

avatar
Reply

You are wrong on so many counts. First, I really don't care about Clinton's & Gore's charitable contributions; politicians aren't the ones I'm talking about. But if you want to bring up politicians, I'll bring up Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) who uses his own money to pay for mobile health care vans in rural WV.

Second, Bush's responsibility for the explosion in poverty, exactly how do you expect people to be anything but poor when W's policies push most decent paying jobs out of the country?

And welfare? It was intended to HELP people get back on their feet - to train for or find new jobs. You seem to bemoan individuals getting welfare, but you apparently have no problem w/corporate welfare - billions in tax cuts to corps that either don't need them or are shipping jobs to other countries.

avatar
Reply

And $5T in 40 years? That's a whopping $125B per year spent on trying to improve the lives of millions of Americans. Bush has spent over $100B/Year on an UNDERFUNDED war that was, is, and will always be, illegal, immoral, and one of the biggest mistakes in this country's history. And instead of helping millions of people, it's destroying a country & killing thousands of US soldiers & private contractors as well as hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.

And if you believe Medicare/Medicaid is doing more damage to our healtchare system than the private, for-profit insurance co's, you're delusional. You're comparing gov't programs that basically write checks for the covered to org's that will do anything, including letting people die, to turn a profit.
