President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq on Monday, using the war zone as a backdrop to argue his case that the buildup of U.S. troops is helping stabilizing the country. The president secretly flew 11 hours to Iraq as a showdown nears with Congress over whether his decision in January to order 30,000 more U.S. troops to Iraq is working.

Well. He did the right thing for his cause. But I will believe this all worked when he can announce he is going there and then visit pretty much anywhere he decides, just as if he were going to India or Norway. Being able to visit a highly protected US military site in secret does not indicate safety and stability in a country to me.

Well good for him!
I liek his business sense!!
All them no bid contracts need attention! You know, we is spendin $10 Billion dollors a month in Iraq. And a lot of that money is goin right into the pockets of major corporations!
Whut good business sense hes got? You know, hes the only presdient with a Business Degree!!
And I was readin a story just yesterday in the newspaper that one of the main motivators for goin into Iraq was oil contracts!
Seems as though Saddam Hussein was on the verge of trasferrin all oil contracts over to the Ruskies!! That woulda meant that GWs pals in the home grown oil buisiness woulda been aced out!!
Liek I say - when it comes to the business of oil and private contracter warriors - hes hands on business saavy!!
Of course, when it comes to diplomatic solutions and makin America safe, a better place to live, and gainin respect in the world - he aint so good.
But thats OK!! We Christian Conservatives LOVE GW!!
Hes borned again!

It also takes away attention from some of the staff who are bailing out. He is trying to rebuild support for his oil war. No doubt about it. Maybe he is trying to get material for the speeches he plans on delivering. When he retires to keep him in spending money. Maybe Cheyney sent him over there to check on their investments. While he is there he might as well get the photo op.

Goppy you are a numbskull and a jerk. Stop with the southern hick accent....It shows you are nothing but a pompous elitist liberal fool.
President Bush has a masters degree...just how educated are you? It doesnt seem like much...
And stop with the discrimination against Christians. Would you dare to make fun of any other religion, race, or sexual orientation? This is America were everyone and every group has a right to exist.
Even condesending, bigots like yourself.

Christian Conservatives can spell for one thing there skipper....and if you believe that garbage you are spewing then you need some serious schooling. Learn more on economics, Human Rights and who violates them, ect. You just dont get it...and the no bidder crap was just as bad under Golden Boy Clinton...if you werent so biased you would know that. You are mis-informed, inclined to believe only ONE talking point. To me, they are all crooked and most should be incarcerated on both sides...so take that Dems-R-Holier than thou attitude and lose it....you have made NO difference in the world.

It's awfully sad, when the only way the Democrats and the lunatic fringe anti-war movement can look good, is for American troops to be killed, and for us to tuck tail and run from Iraq. These pathetic liberals are actually hoping we lose the war, and are emboldening our enemies. Do any of them remember how many millions of Viatnamese were slaughtered by their communist friends when they forced our withdrawl from another U.S. ally. Bush may not have fought the war 100% correctly, but we haven't had another terrorist attack since 9/11. It's awfully pathetic to constantly blame him, yet give no credit for any accomplishments.

"emboldening"
GW's favorite word :)
I believe going into Iraq was the right move, and I believe we need to stay there until it becomes stable. The problem was GW underestimated the region and how unstable it would become and did not send nearly enough troops. This is evident by his "mission accomplished" appearence. GW thought the war would be fought against the current Iraqi government, but he was mistaken because the real war began after Saddam was gone. Something George did not anticipate.

Quite some "fringe" that consists of about 2/3 of the U.S. citizens.
Your description Vietnam is equally flawed, as many have pointed out in previous discussions.
You might also note that the U.S. has not been hit by another Katrina-style hurricane. Will you credit Mr. Bush for this as well?
