Unbelievable that it's actually gone up! What is he doing that warrants a rise in his approval rating when the war is going so terribly?

it is unbelievable. some people think that the 36 percent number is simply untrue, which is not to say that cnn is lying. i would never ever say such a thing. but SOME people would.
i would just think it.

Here's the real story
We won the war when Saddam's government toppled.
The Administration failed to provide securtiy for the citizens of Iraq and soon after the occupation began the civil war broke out. Now Iraq is broken into 3 sections. even those sections are breaking down into more strife and fighting among the different clans.
Bush has failed at Nation Building. Not suprising that no nation building was one of his campaign promises back in 2000. But what do you expect.
The military objectives of the surge have worked, mostly because we have on of the finest militaries in history. The surge has not achived much success on the political front.

There is no political front. The administration is doing absolutely NOTHING to develop political solutions in Iraq.
Petraeus and Fallon have both admitted that the situation in Iraq CANNOT be WON MILITARILY!!!
It will only be solved through political agreements between the factions fighting over Iraq.
What is Condi, the Secretary of State doing to solve this situation politically? Anyone heard anything from her lately?
No, she, like Dumby support the failed military surge as the answer so they can hand off to the unfortunate successor of this quagmire.

Yes, it is, and Iraq is driving THE ECONOMY STUPID into the ground. We are in debt up to our eyeballs to China. Isn't that great? Beholden to a Communist nation.
This is how much taxpayers are spending minute by minute for this illegal war, http://www.nationalpriorities.org/Cost-of-War/C...
and isn't the economy doing so well for the richest folks in America while the poor and middle class keep getting poorer.
Tell me one good thing Bush has done for the middle class and the poor? Tell me one good thing that has come from Iraq? Sure we got Saddam, great. We didn't finish the job in Afghanistan and let the Taliban regroup, instead of getting rid of them for good.
Please tell me how great of a job Bush has done over the past 6 years. How he's made our standing in the world so much better, and has made America safer. His top general DID NOT EVEN KNOW the answer to that question.
Please, tell me what good Bush has done for America in 6 years? Someone, anyone? (CRICKETS)

"Unbelievable that there are some idiots that support him"
Not nearly as unbelievable as all the idiots who support Pelosi, Reid, Hell, just about any democrat out there.
You lefties are a whining bunch with nothing to offer the U.S. - as proven by the complete incompetence of the Dem-led Congress. I bet it really burns you lefties to know Bush's approval ratings consistently rank higher than the rudderless democrats in Congress.

Hey, according to the same people Bill Clinton had a 65% approval rating just after he signed his big tax increase. Of course you know he lost control of congress in the next election.
Moral of the story: Don't trust any polls.

i'm sure his underground-gestapo leaned on some people and encouraged them to vote positive, you know rigging the vote...
i don't think people understand that there IS a secret society in our nation that acts like a gestapo on anyone targeted by this regime... wanna know how i know? it enough to drive a person crazy which will be documented by a surveillance team and shared with people who show loyalty to this regime to make the victim experience extreme humiliation... its just evil. i live in the fatherland for his 'new world order' (texas)....
--- its so bad, i often wonder if people are getting my emails ,letters and faxes.... our nation needs to provide protection for americans when our government turns gestapo
all that happened after addressing civil rights issues in TSA at bush airport. that is how i know.... i got a new job at AT&T but fear that this texas mafia (gestapo) is going to mess it up.

From the Gallup pole it is real clear, the Dem congress is in freefall, sinking to historic lows and President Bush has remained steady, dame close to rock solid. It should be interesting when the next Gallup pole comes out after the Dem disaster in their slanderous smear confrontation with Gen. Petraeus, it is possible the Dem congress may hit single digit numbers 8% - 9%
Dem. Congress 2007 Feb. to date
Gallup 08/13 - 08/16 18% 76%
Gallup 07/12 - 07/15 27% 66%
Gallup 06/11 - 06/14 24% 71%
Gallup 05/10 - 05/13 29% 64%
Gallup 03/11 - 03/14 28% 64%
Gallup 02/01 - 02/04 37% 55%
President Bush 2007 Feb. to date
Gallup 08/13 - 08/16 32% 63%
Gallup 07/12 - 07/15 31% 63%
Gallup 06/11 - 06/14 32% 65%
Gallup 05/10 - 05/13 33% 62%
Gallup 03/11 - 03/14 35% 61%
Gallup 02/01 - 02/04 32% 65%

He is a failure. He has always been a failure. America can't be suprised at the results. They voted a failure into office and a failure can only fail.
Worst President Ever!

I'm surprised. How can 36% of the people be so dumb...
I wonder what percentage of the population thinks wrestling, WWF style, is real. Probably not more than 36%.

Actually, 64% of the people are cynical, negative, whiny malcontents, who point to one man - whom they don't even know - as the reason for their anger, unhappiness and failure.
The other 36% are normal, functioning Americans who are looking after their own lives, and attribute their daily happiness, well-being and level of success to themselves and their own efforts, instead of pinning their lives to whatever CNN tells them is going on in Washington.

not the fox poll.
the 09/11-12/07 fox poll has congress at 32% approve, 56% disapprove.
and the 09/07-10/07 NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll has people clearly favoring the dems in congress over the republicans 47% to 35%.
and if you go back to 2006, the GOP led congres regularly scored in the low 20s.

By the way...what was the approval rating of Congress when it was contolled by the Republicans? Wasn't it hovering around 24%?

36% approval rating is better then it was last week, and way better then the 21.5% approval rating for Congress. Congress had a 40% approval rating in January, and then they didn't do any of the things they promised in the 06 election campaign,. Congress would certainly think 36% is good news if they could get their approval rating that high.

For this last week, FOX/Opinion Dynamics put the congreesional approval at 32%.
That means you're wrong more than 10% on all the facts.
FOX, that's the only one YOU listen to, right (or wrong)?
Also, the congressional approval in January, according to FOX (YOUR favorite!) was 33%, a ONE PERCENT DECLINE from it's rating in the same week, one year earlier.
So much for that couple of "facts."
