Once again, what good are tax breaks for the poor? The only really good thing was requiring insurers to insure those with pre-existing conditions, but for how much?

Liberals change their name to avoid the negative stigma they created and is associated with the identity. Proud Liberals are so proud that they now call themselves "Progressives"
Now the massively Corrupt Hillary Clinton has changed the name from Socialist Medical care to Universal Health Care. Come on people. Lib's cry and moan about the Federal Government response to Katrina. We all cry foul about the IRS. We all see how inefficient and wasteful the Federal Government is at business. How the hell anybody can endorse our Medical Care being turned over to the Federal Government is beyond me. You think the data mining by the NSA is getting your information. How do you feel about the Federal government getting their hands on your medical records?

Aint none of us deserve the Hell that Goerge W. has created.
None of us!!!
Say it to yourself - - -

I am thinking this makes more sense than spending trillions on a stupid war. But if you on the other side have a better way to spend our tax dollars let's hear it. I do think you have some balls crying about the cost of this thing that will be good for all American...while condoning the selfish misuse of our money by halliburton and others.
You on the Right always cry how prow American and the American people you are; well here is your chance to show them how much you mean that.

I just have one question. Do you really want the government running health care? After all the absolute stupidity of the failure of government run programs, who'd trust them to run Health care in a way that benefits the person whose sick?
This bought and paid for politicians biggest contributor is the Pharm corporations. That fact along justifies throwing Shrillery out with the rest of the trash.

I have to tell you GHOS if there is a politician that is not bought and paid for it's Hill. The Clinton's are not Money grubbers. I think it's sad that they have been painted in the same corner as others. But Bill and his wife could have gone into corporate America and made millions...after all the man is a Rhodes Scholar, and his wife is no idiot according to Greenspan on 60min last Sunday, he thinks she is smart enough to be president he will not vote for her because he is a GOPer.

So I can still pay for my own Insurance, that is good. Be interested in knowing how much the little missus got in Kickbacks from the Insurance Companies. I bet it was a bigger bundle then that old political Daddy Warbucks, Norman Hsu gave her. Where is Norman. I worry about him. They are going to get rid of him one way or an other. But I digress. Why do they need 110 billion dollars to insure 47 million people. They could each get an Osama bin Laden complete makeover for that much.

Skeptic11 months, 3 weeks ago
That figures out to an insurance premium of $2340 per person per year if paid by an individual. A family of four would be paying a monthly premium of $780 per month. That is an expensive health plan. It seems that all the candidates want to pay for this through taxing the rich or allowing the tax reforms to expire. Stand by for even more wealth redistribution, overseen by Democrats.
Some cost cutting measures need to be found first and one area that needs to be addressed is malpractice insurance. That can't happen until something is done about tort reform and that won't happen as long as lawyers are in the halls of power.

Reminds me of an old joke which I will update for the times.....
Hillary and Rudy are walking along the street when they encounter a poor person. Rudy takes $20 out of his pocket and hands it to the poor person. Hillary scoffs at how cheap Rudy is. Then, she takes $100 out of Rudy's pocket, keeps $60 for her Government administrative costs, and gives $40 to the poor person.

Whoa. I just heard how this Healthcare plan will be paid for, by rolling back the Bush tax cuts at every level. Plus Charles Rangel from the House Ways, and Means Committee is preparing a tax reform plan that will provide a trillion dollar, yes, T, as in trillion dollar re distribution of our personal wealth. Evidentally the Democrats think we have too much money. Had enough?

ok lol when Bush did hiw redistrabution of about 6 trillion you had no problem even witht he fact that its all debt yur kids and grandkids whill have to pay. Every day "we the people" get up, go to work, keep the roads and rails moving, the corporations fucntioning etc etc. And all we ask for is a little health care..I dont think that it is too much to ask for. kids having health care is a family value. I thought your repubs where the family value people. I guess not. so put this in your pipe and smoke it: Up until ronnie raygun became president most hospitals in america where "not for profit" orgs. It was you republicans who handed them over to wall street telling us that it would be more efficiant.. heeeelllloooooooo.... in 1970 i was right out of high school and worked as a mesenger for a litlle company and had health insurance fully paid for by the company. It was your privitazation ponsey sceeme that made health care unafordable. deal with it.

health carte through major employers did not become unaffordable. Those corporations looked at the expense and decided that that money would serve them better as profits. It is the same attitude thaqt shipped hundreds of thousands of jobs and careers overseas. Don't blame the government for this mess. Corporate America has decided that the US public does not need health care insurance and that if they do, corporate america is not going to help pay for it. Excess profits should pay for a universal health care system. For too long the major corporations have whittled their involvement from the welfare of their employees and have taken what ever savings they have garnered and put that money inot the hands of their shareholders (none of whom are in the lower economic zone. If taxes are to pay for this scheme then we are finished.

A State issue? Gee, hate to live in a State that doesn't have much income and refuses to help with health care. Wouldn't most people without health care want to move to the States that offer better health care and wouldn't that bankrupt or at least hurt the GNP of those effected States?

Tax credits are the ruination of the country. A lot of the stores and businesses will hire any alive and breathing just to recieve the credit. A grocery store that I was in hired a man who squeaks and pushes a cart all day? This person is untrainable and will require other workers to watch him all day. People like this are hired just so the business can get a tax break.
The average person cannot afford to shell out $300 - $400 hundred dollars a month and get a small credit at tax time.
I think for insurance to be affordable it should be about $20-$30 a month. The government can pick up the rest of the cost. They have plenty of money for how they want to waste it.
My car insurance and life insurance are about this much per month.

What I'd like to see is a better breakdown of costs vs savings. Obviously the costs to the system of people using the emergency room as their primary means of getting health care is pretty high. The average overhead of the private health care insurers is about 33% as opposed to 3% for Medicare. Will getting more people in for clinic visits reduce more serious illnesses later? Also what will be the savings for workplaces that currently subsidize worker health care?
Rather than spout propaganda, I wish some of our opponents on the right would actually provide some facts and figures. Rather than focus just on the costs, let's have an analysis of costs and savings.

Is anyone else having a problem with the wording? Is she serious? Is she really trying to force every person to carry insurance for themselves? I wonder who in the insurance business owes Hillary a favor for that one.
So if you refuse to be a "customer" of the insurance company, you are breaking the law?
This amounts to nothing more than a forced tax payable to the insurance companies. And when the insurance companies re-write their policies (like they did with the people whose homes were destroyed by Katrina) you loose your house.

According to the Wall Street Journal article on this, there are 47 million uninsured....that's an awful lot of votes for Ms. Clinton to pander to.
According to Hillary, health care for these people has got to be paid by someone; ultimately it will be those who work for a living. The so-called "rich" will find ways around it and "big business" will pass on the costs to the consumer.
Even with proper controls, this is a bad idea. Without them (and Government is not known for implementing cost-effective controls), it's a nightmare for the American public.

why is it that only freeloaders look for everything free. Get a job and pay for your own Health Insurance! I do not want the government involved in my Health Care and those who do deserve what you get. Companies offer Heatlh Insurance oh wait if you can get it free why pay for it!! I am tired of paying high taxes for the sloth of Society. If you can breath and walk and write get a damn job and start paying your way in life. There is nothing wrong with Heatlh Care in the United States. We get the best care there is. You can also purchase your own Health Insurance thru insurance companies instead of going thru your company. But all you hear thru blogs and the bias media is why should you have to pay for your own. Why should I have to pay for you!!! I pay my way way thru life, I do not look for a hand out. So all of you free loaders who want free Health care from the Government YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU GET. I will stick to my private Health Insurance.

Because you have money. It's in the Constitution that if you have money, the government has a right to take it away.....oh wait...that's the version the LDL's have drafted to take the place of the real one. I should have known....the LDL version doesn't have a second amendment.

I really get a feeling that there are a lot of people here the love the idea that the U.S. is 38th among nations (and dropping) in terms of the health of its citizens. Some people seem to think we're too high and should deny many people emergency care. That would probably put us at about 75th or lower.
For those that can afford it, yes, we probably have the best medical care there is. But for the working poor (and watch out because more of us in the middle class are dropping into the category) the U.S. is beginning to resemble a third world nation in some respects.

She stated in her news conference that those who wanted more/better benefits could simply pay more.
So now we will have our healthcare divided into classes?
The rich will have excellent care while the working class will get what's left over.
What ever happened to the idea "all men are created equal"?
Healthcare is a human rights issue and everyone should have equal access. I made about 42K last year and after taxes and insurance I actually brought home 30K which when spent I paid 7% in sales tax not to mention the additional taxes on my gas, cigarettes, beer, fishing license, property taxes, fire protection fees, tags, drivers license, hunting license, 911 fees, inspection sticker, fees to dispose of old tires and oil for my car, taxes on my phone bill, water bill, sewer fees, ect. I could go on and on.
When will the insanity end?
Just try to go to any local, state or federal agency for help and be prepared for negative results & a long wait.

4cprocess - If you are rich you already have the best doctors and medical care this country can provide. If you are poor you can't afford squat and the health care they get is already substandard. We already have a class system of health care. And we also have about 47 million that can't afford health care insurance. The system is great for those who can afford the costs but is broken for those who can't. And how many of you who don't want universal health care for all, call yourselves Christians? Where's your charity and concern for others? Oh, yes, that does not apply if it effects your gross standard of living.

Gatsby, are you serious? Do you really want the government to be in control of your healthcare? Do you really want everyone to be compelled to buy heath insurance? I guess if you want to wait months for a simple procedure like a CAT scan or an MRI, which can practically be done at Wal-Mart these days, then I guess universal heath care is the way to go. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK CANADA??? It's bad enough that, due in part to the insurance industry and many other contributing factors, that healthcare costs have gone as high as they have, but if you starttelling everyone, "Hey! Free health care!!!", guess what, costs will go through the roof. Look, if you can afford a hamburger, you'll buy a hamburger. But, when given the choice, if someone else is paying for it, you're more likely to choose a steak and only pay the co-pay cost of the hamburger. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that universal health care would drive costs UP, not down.

The walk in clinics are only for a cold, or flu and other small things. This is probablly set up so if you have insurance you will not use it for dr visits. The cost is the same about $40.00 here.
It takes a while to get an mri. They cannot be set up just anywhere.
"WILL SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK CANADA"
Their economy and a lot of other countries seem to be doing better than us. Most people would rather have some form of health care than none.
The rich like their socialized healthcare paid for by us.

I notice Hil did not address if her Healthcare will cover the 20 million illegal aliens in this country, and what do you say to the 17 million people who simply do not want health care? This will end up being a single payers plan, and there is only one way to control costs in Single payer coverage, that is to restrict coverage. Are you covered if you smoke? Drink? Do Drugs? Engage in risky sexual behavior? I am sorry Hillary, but you have to go back to the drawing board, this plan won't fly either.

If the Canadian Healthcare system is so good, please explain to me why Bill Clinton's Canadian bimbo had to go to California for a particular Cancer procedure not available in Canada? Her name is Belinda Stonach, and they are very good friends. While you are at it you can explain why Canadians with money come across the border for their own healthcare.
