    FTA:

Carter's comments come on the heels of an October 4 article in The New York Times disclosing the existence of secret Justice Department memorandums supporting the use of "harsh interrogation techniques." These include "head-slapping, simulated drowning and frigid temperatures," according to the Times.

Carter is a testament to how humans can grow and learn from their experiences; while he was in office he made some mistakes.

It is brave of him to take a risk in order to serve our country by speaking out against inhuman acts. This is not what we want our children to learn.

We in the US cannot justify torture because our enemies do it. Thank you Mr. President. ..Carter not Bush.

...meanwhile, Americans believe Bush when he says battery acid to the anus and waterboarding doesn't constitute as torture.

And here's a good one from the story regarding GOP presidential candidates:

          JC:

"They all seem to be outdoing each other in who wants to go to war first with Iran, who wants to keep Guantanamo open longer and expand its capacity -- things of that kind," Carter said.

"They're competing with each other to appeal to the ultra-right-wing, war-mongering element in our country, which I think is the minority of our total population."

Carter declined to say which Republican candidate he feared the most.

"If I condemn one of them, it might escalate him to the top position in the Republican ranks," he said.

          Ain't it the truth!!

Carter's dementia seems trifling compared with the current occupants of the oval office I think.

Oh sorry, I guess that would be alcohol induced, perhaps that is all that little GeoBushie needed all along--a nice shot of B12 to go with the white powder eh?

Until Carter starts dribbling the contents of his urinary tract via his mouth like the GOP incumbents I think we can hold off on the donepezil.

Seriously, though...Do you not care at all about our (US) constitution? Do you not care about what we teach our kids, or that we even know right from wrong?

Shallow jibes at Carter and others are only pathetic given the extent of havoc wreaked by Bushies.
