"I wonder who is paying for this?"

This is just a wild guess, but if it goes like everything else this badministration has done, the YOU -- ME...

You said it.

It'll probably fall under Exec Priv! Wouldn't surprise me if it did.

Your probably right. It seems a lot of things fall under that title of Exec Priv now days.

When he goes to that little room in the corner to do his doo-doo, even that would be classified as ExPri!

No sweat, Gonzo. You were a good soldier. No matter what the liberal bastards do to you, Bush will pardon you. Those anusheads just don't seem to understand that as a Bush appointee, silly ass laws just don't apply to you.

Hire a good buddy as your lawyer. The taxpayers will pay his multi-million dollar fees, he'll clean up financially, and you might even get a little kick back on the deal! There's good money to be made on this deal, Gonzo ol' buddy.

Is this a great administration or what!

Thing is if you were sooo right as you were insisting to the American people why would you need a "Top Gun" lawyer? I was always told the truth would set you free, looks like AG did a bit of story telling to his fellow Americans.

They are all a bungh of crooks we should jail them all from bush on down...I think they underestimate the American people, never thought we would catch on to what they were doing. JAIL EM ALL THE DARN CROOKS

Sounds more like an early-onset "Al"zeimer's disease!

I am surprised that he even remembers his name!

The biggest joke is his lawyer calling him Judge Gonzales!

Can you imagine this guy as a Texas Supreme court Judge?

It would go something like this:

Prosecutor: Your Honor, I now present the case of People of the State of Texas V. Joe Blow

Judge AlGonzo: Proceed with caution!

Defense Lawyer: I object your honor! There is no need to proceed with caution. My client was just sleeping in his bedroom when the cops knocked down the door and charged in.

J: Did you say it was a "bl*w" job?

P: No, Your Honor, It was Texas V Joe Blow. We don't know what he was doing there.

J: Did he have his wife there?

P: Yes, your honor!

J: Then it was a "Bl*w" job! 20 Years to life, with no parole!

Next case:

LOL!

berkeley,

I don't think Scooter can practice law anymore, because his sentence was commuted, but he was not pardoned!

This lawyer can make a killing, because he has a skunk for a client, and those noxious fumes can be bad for the lawyer's health!

LOL!

Good. We can bankrupt the pendejo before we try him, then we can hang him after.

Best of all possible worlds.

Even after all of this, he may still have some socially redeemable value - such as picking fruit in Simi Valley or sandbagging Galveston area during Hurricane warning!

LOL!

I found his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee to be the most evasive I have ever witnessed. For instance his response to questions from SEN Schumer...

" did the president send you see attorney general Ashcroft."

Here see and hear for your self.

"the former attorney general is concerned that Fine may end up making a criminal referral to the Public Integrity Section of the Justice Department or even seek the appointment of a special counsel to determine if Gonzales made false statements to Congress."

And so he should be.

It'll be hard to get a perjury conviction against him based on his evidence in the hearing.

"I don't recall" will require brainscans to check the wiring and of course the expert witnesses will disagree whetherhe has a human, robot or android brain function.

Then if he is found guilty the Presidential Pardon awaits..

For all concerned, wouldn't it be simpler, more expeditious and less expensive to either let him fall on his sword, literally, or to send him on a little sea-cruise and let him fall into the jaws of a waiting shark?

[a re-incarnated lawyer perhaps]

I could get him, just on his testimony about the imaginary "consensus of top officials" on the Attorney firings. All the top officials have tesitified, and they all deny anything to do with the list.

The list came from the White House, and Pendejo lied to cover it up.

He lied about habeas corpus.

And the statute does not require an outright lie, just deception.

United States Code TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE PART I - CRIMES # CHAPTER 47 - FRAUD AND FALSE STATEMENTS Section 1001. Statements or entries generally

"(1) falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact; (2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation;"

>>I could get him

I believe you - keep him if you want him, otherwise dispose of as you see fit..

But will they?

avatar

Of course not, that would interfere with his lecture tour.

I think Alpha is trying to get him on a guest posting binge for the righties.

Question: he's one of the top rated lawyers in the world. Why would a top rated lawyer have to hire a very expensive lawyer? Don't have enough skills to defend himself?

Why doesn't he defend himself pro bono? Could it be because the taxpayers are paying for his defense?

And gamahuche was right - why go through all this expense and time in an effort that's going to be forgiven anyway?

avatar
Reply

But I do require that he be dispensed with in some manner! Its too late for him to even attempt to make it an honourable exit so I guess something more on the lines of garbage removal.

"the expanding investigation by Glenn Fine, the Justice Department's fiercely independent inspector general" - Now's there's a phrase I think we should see a LOT more often: ...fiercely independent inspector general...

Perhaps the chickens are FINALLY coming home to roost. I tmay very well be that Gonzales quit because the one thing that the President CANNOT pardon is impeachment. If Gonzales were impeached while still in office, no doubt the senate would find out a LOT of things that would get a whole lot of other people in deep doo-doo.

avatar
Reply

Glad to see that we have an independent inspector general to handle the case! We need someone who does not have a vested interest in this administration.

Why does Gonzales need an attorney? He said that he had done nothing wrong.

If he told the truth, he should not be worried!

Thanks Mark, interesting article!

avatar

Wow... he can't even stand for himself, so he buys a lawyer to try and escape the law. An obvious indicator that he's in deep doo-doo right now. Sad.

avatar
Reply

LOL! Way too deep. Regardless, Bush will pardon him!

avatar
Reply

I wonder if it's possible for them to hold off the Gonzales trial until after Bush leaves office? Certainly, the Dems know that Bush will just pardon him. Best to nail them all afterward.

I'd put my money on it that this is the same reason Karl Rove left ... so he could prepare his defense.

avatar
Reply

It would be sooooooo sweet if they did hold off until Bush is gone, Poetic Justice!!

avatar

Bush will pardon him before he leaves office if they don't pursue the case now especially if another Republican doesn't get elected president.

"Mr. Walsh was far more critical of Mr. Bush than Mr. Reagan, saying that Mr. Bush "can never justify" his Christmas Eve 1992 pardon of former Defense Secretary Caspar W. Weinberger and five other Iran-contra figures." Those pardons were less than a month before Bush was to leave office.

No matter how you feel about Gonzales, this is a waste of time over nothing and will go no where. The post only gives the radical left wing bloggers something to wag their tongues about. To say that only the guilty need an attorney is naive at best. What is unfortunate here is that the Democrats are pandering to their radical base and after listening to this for over another year the public will be so sick of it that a Republican will easily win the white house again. The Democrats need to put forth a positive message about their vision for the future. Trying to make the Republicans look like the worse choice of two evils is not a solid campaign strategy.

maybe so, I'd like to hear some details of a plan for the future too.

I for one think justice still needs to be served.

gonzo is a liar. he SHOULD have his day in court.

avatar

Scary thing about the attorneys he hired ... look at what they did to the 2000 and 2004 elections and how they cheated to win for Bush. Those guys are like barracudas. I also wonder how many more different ways Gonzo is going to be able to say "I don't know", "I don't recall", "I don't think I was there", "the secretary must have done it", "the dog ate it" .... LOLOL

Sadly that is probably true. I can never figure out how abridging the COnstitution and Bill of Rights can be overlooked with exec privelege when the oath of office has protection of those documents #1.
