It things were really so bad Ralph would be gathering signatures for a third run for President. If the President, and vice President were so criminal it would be an inpeachable offense for Congress not to Impeach. They will not Impeach, because they do not have valid Articles of Impeachment. Just saying something does not make it an impeachable offense. Just wishing doesn't make it so. There is plenty of time to Impeach if the Democrats get their act together. Call your congressman, and find out why they are dragging their feet.

Christ on a crutch, did you even watch the damn video?? You think all anyone is doing is just "wishing" it would happen? TWO-THIRDS of Oliver's district presented him with a resolution for impeachment, and he not only refused, but he told them EXACTLY WHY: Because if impeachment gets real traction, the country will be GONE before they get it done. LOCKED DOWN, Constitution gone, Blackwater goons patrolling the streets. Sound good to you? Actually, it probably does, doesn't it.
And I am SICK TO DEATH of you lying buffoons endlessly quacking about there being no grounds for impeachment. Don't even try to present that as some "valid opposing view", because it's a flat-out freaking LIE. Only someone with their ass-hat clamped firmly on their head 24/7 still believes otherwise. See if you can manage to pry yours off before you post again.

jasper,
No, sadly... if a story doesn't come from FOX News, NewsMax, the Washington Times, or any other right-wing source of opinion, the nutjobs on these threads simply do not want to hear it! In their warped minds, the truth is owned only by right-wing ideologues and anything to the left of Attila the Hun is a lie.
Of course, most liberals, moderates and REASONABLE conservatives see the flaws of that kind of thinking. In fact, MOST THINKING PEOPLE hold conservative views on some issues and liberal views on others.
Apparently, that's too difficult for most of them to digest. And if they tried, I'm convinced that their heads would explode!

aniokly: You are probably well off and think you have no concerns. That is what they want you to think. Bush relies upon your greed and the fact you are afraid of the so called liberals taking it from you. Oh that you could see the truth before it is to late and you are goose stepping along. You won't though you are hopeless in my view. The congress is afraid that Bush will try to invoke Martial law. There by negating the rules and laws of the constitution and giving you Bushland. I know you probably think I'm some stupid old cowboy. Don't let the moniker fool you. I'm an older cowboy that has served his country and will still fight to preserve the constitution. The President is an elected official and cannot do what Gulliani wanted to do in New York. He shouldn't try it. It will be his last mistake as President. For he will be removed. The military is required to defeat a take over by the Pres.

There is not valid grounds for Impeachment. If there was it would be an impeachable offense for Congress not to act. They will not act. Why? Because they have no grounds. You tell me why they won't act. You cannot be that stupid. You live in a fantasy world. No one will patrol your streets. There is nothing to be afraid of if you are not lying. Stop looking for the black heilcopters, and elect people who will enforce Constitutional law, or get back under your bed.

You were just told, you amazing simpleton. Via the words of Representative Oliver, as read by Ralph Nader in his talk. Again, did you watch the video?
"No one will patrol your streets. There is nothing to be afraid of if you are not lying."
What in THE HELL do you mean by that? Are the truth squad goons coming? You are a truly scary person...
"...and elect people who will enforce Constitutional law, or get back under your bed."
It is not elected representatives who "enforce" Constitutional law; their job is to ABIDE BY IT. The judicial branch of government is charged with defining and preserving governmental adherence to the Constitution, and it is ultimately We The People who enforce it. Of course, that would be excluding you, and your authoritarian type.

Yeah, it's pretty plain that the evidence for impeachment IS there, especially for the "war of aggression", which is against the Geneva Convention and the charter of the UN, both of which the US is signatory to. Being a signatory to these international treaties makes them, according to Article six of the US Constitution, "the supreme Law of the Land."
High crimes? You DON'T need ANY evidence for those, as they are not defined!

The impeachment of President Clinton proved that congress doesn't need a valid reason to impeach. All it takes is a straight vote and a simple majority would sent the matter to the Senate for trial. I say let the Senate decide.

I'm very curious how Oliver's prognostication for the Bush/Cheney regime's response to impeachment hearings was obtained; was it simply informed speculation on his part -- along with other key congress members -- or is it something more....? Envision, if you will, a meeting between Bush, Cheney and Pelosi, just prior to Pelosi's infamous "off the table" pronouncement. Imagine Bush and Cheney laying Nancy's options out for her: "Squash impeachment, and we're gone in two years; allow it to move forward, and this is gonna go where you don't want it to go Ms. Speaker, and there won't be a damn thing you can do about it...." Sound too far-fetched? At this point, nothing sounds too far-fetched to me.

Is that what's going on with Congress? If it is, they need to spell it out to the rest of us, & have the courage to stand up to this bunch of thugs. The American people can take care of themselves. We don't need mommies and daddy's in Congress protecting us.

What Nader says Olver told his constituents is extremely frightening.
If it's true, and if the Democratic leadership believes Bush would in fact declare martial law, then I wish they would tell us. An announcement on the Sunday morning news shows and statements by the leadership to mainstream media outlets about this would give this fear of Bush declaring martial law credibility, and perhaps finally make the masses think about what is happening in the White House.
And if it's true, I certainly hope there is a plan being developed to amend the Constitution after Bush leaves office so that the military can be controlled in case such a madman who would overthrow our system of government ever becomes president again.
I would also hope, if the Democratic leadership truly believes what Olver is purported to have said, that there is a plan to prosecute Bush and his co-conspirators to the fullest extent the minute he leaves office in 2009.

It's really very ominous, not knowing why this Congress is so afraid of bush. I want to know why. That Senator's remarks are really amazing. Is he warning his constituents? Very strange stuff going on. I've heard nothing about this in any media format. And if there's truth to this, doesn't Congress think bush and his cohorts know what could happen when they're gone? Is that where this easily manipulated clone of Reagan....Thompson comes in?

If this is what it is, and they let the country know it, they would have an uprising on their hands that they wouldn't have any idea how to handle. That's why they don't tell us.
Reply-

jaspersneed10 months, 4 weeks ago
I think there's some truth to that, but on the other hand, here we have Olver for starters doing exactly that in his written response to his constituents. So, essentially, the telling has begun. Whence from here remains the question. I can at least assure you of one thing -- this will not appear in the mainstream media.

How many people do you think you need to quell 300 million people? You live in La La land. No wonder you people are so afraid. Forget it. Call your congressman, and tell them you know why they won't impeach this President even though they have ample reason. Tell them about the troops in the streets. Remind them of how frightened they must be, then sit on your porch and wait for the men with the butterfly nets to come for you.

"How many people do you think you need to quell 300 million people?"
The exact amount that they'll be using. Are you armed? If so, whose side would you be on, the 300 million, or the number needed to "quell" them? I'd like a straight up answer to that question. Whose side?
Reply -

Natureboy10 months, 4 weeks ago
They would be quelling perhaps 3 million people and 297 million sheeple. The people will be hauled off to the camps, the sheeple will keep their heads down and do what they are told. The propaganda machines will be telling them the enemy to fear is overseas and Big Brother is here to protect them. Look around you - most of your friends and neighbors will simply go along, either out of stupidity or fear.

Donnaich10 months, 4 weeks ago
The numbers might be somewhat off, but essentially correct.
Assuming this would occur, I would like to think 300 million would rise up (Americans do tend to get their backs up when pressed), but I really don't think we would see that number. Germany 1930's again...
As for the military and police counted on to do the deed, I think their number would be fractured also. Some would refuse to do it, I think, and might join the people in resistance. Perhaps its why their propagandists pass themselves off as "military personnel" ("18Delta" ring any bells?), "Good old common Americans", and keep up the APPEARANCE of "Supporting the troops" (by keeping them dying!): to play them off against the populace and get more troops to view those who oppose war / martial law as being against THEM, as "traitors". Its "dehumanizing the enemy".
One thing is for sure, if it happened, the "United States" would be history.

You know, to say that you occupy an alternate reality is too kind. You are completely unhinged and OUT OF TOUCH with reality, as are about the 25-30% who would follow the neo-cons over a cliff.
I just pray to God that it's not to late to save the country from the neo-cons and those of you who unquestioningly believe everything that they spoon-feed you...

How many men did Hitler need for 'Hummingbird'?
If they had they balls to come after me, they would have long ago. They don't. Forget about calling my Congressman, I sent the e-mail direct to the White House. You see, accusing them of something for which they are demonstrably guilty is not a crime. They can't even get a warrant without making the charge itself public.
Watch. George W. Bush is a traitor, and has deliberately sought to undermine the Constitution of the United States of America, to destroy the abilities of the the U.S. military, and the authority and powers of Congress - as such, he is an enemy of the United States of America, and of it's citizens.

Ralph Nader neglected to mention the biggest offense of all: demolishing the Twin TRade Towers and WTC7, and attacking the Pentagon. To blame the nonexistent Al Qaeda, and the inconsequential Osama bin Laden, is as absurd as the three slogans of Ingsoc: "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."
The problem is we would have to impeach the entire Orwellian state and the press and the television networks. Anyone who was near the World Trade Center saw and heard the explosions. Of course, the television networks cropped the tapes of the collapsing Trade Towers and erased the sound of the explosions.

If we don't take our country back through impeachment, we are going to have to take it back with guns in the streets. Blackwater has a decent size army, but there are 280,000,000 guns in America.
Be vigilant. The government knows where most of these guns are. The first thing they will do when they move to open fascism is round up the guns.

There are practical limits to anyone's power, including the perpetrators of the biggest false flag terrorist plot in history. The military would never permit martial law and a coup d'etat in order to wage war with Iran. The Air Force and intelligence agencies refused to even bomb Iran. If our so called representatives in Congress actually believe the twerp and his minions would declare martial law should anyone seriously suggest impeachment, then we are truly in some deep do-do. If the S-head is that intent on staying in office, would he actually forego martial law to have a real election whereby he would be replaced. Better to have him impeached NOW. Let's get this thing over with.
Buy ammo, seeds and silver. The S-storm is gathering and it ain't gonna be pretty.

Saying all this is true, what is/was his plans for the next 2 years? Why was it SOOOOOOOO important that he be allowed to complete these last 2 years of his term? It's not pride, he already knows the whole world hates him.
The only other person i can think of who was more hated was Hitler. Hitler was a hero to Bush, his grandfather worked for Hitler and so began the amassing of the Bush fortune.

I'm glad to see so many comments to that effect before I posted it. Cheney in Portland this week for military exercises, they are simulating an attack that could only ever be an inside job: radiation blankets a large city.

This post has most certainly brought out the weirdest remarks I've seen for a long time. Troops in the streets, stealing another election, and treason. Really? Do I need to stock up my 1950's bomb shelter? As to answering the question, "how many to control 300 million"?, about 10% I'd say. That's what it took in Russia. But this begs the question, and makes as much sense as the how many to screw in a light bulb question.
I had hoped that all the paranoia would be gone once Bush left office but it appears that we'll be talking about this for a long time afterwards. It'll be like the princess Di story, it won't go away!
There has always been a lot of people who had a basic mistrust of government and in some cases justifiably so. It's just that we see bigger gremlins now and it's hard for many of to get on board that train. We don't want to be labeled as kooks. There are times when the idiots in this world are correct and that's scary.

There will be another election, and all you really see on this post is a bunch of snarling old people who don't have a life, and need to blame some one else for their pitiful existence. If there were troops in the street these people couldn't defend their own house, much less the country.
