Actually, Neo is on to somethin there.
A major part of our Christian Conservative Escatology is defined by our renunciation of the earthly plain.
Its a testament to our religous ardor that we reject science and rationality.
Ill give yall 3 reasons why we hate Al Gore.
1. WE hates em because hes associated with Bill Clinton. And we Christian Conservatives see Bill Clinton as evidence of a total renunciaiton of Reaganomics.
Our faith was sorely tested when he got elected. Course, we did the work of God by mountin a 8 year - $150 million dollor program to unseat him as pennance.
2. Hes gone from politician to promotin SCIENCE! I mean Land o Goshen! Thats liek puttin a double whammy on somebody.
3. We caint seem to kill him! We have utilized our vast media resources to demonize Al Gore - and he wont stay dead!! Im personally offended by this.
Believe me, you libbies will never know the joy of living outside the realm of reality until you reject rationality - liek we have.

How original of Krugman to try to turn the well diagnosed BDS - Bush Derangement Syndrome around on those rescaly Republicans. This should titled "Symptoms of BDS". This regurgitation of BDS sufferer is a display of the classic symptoms.
1). Gore won the election in 2000
2). Al Qaeda's recruiters love Bush
3). Man Made global Warming is Bush's fault
4). China is Bush's Fault
5). Tax cuts suck
6). Every Person that does not fall in line with Algore hates the earth and want all water and air to be polluted.
7). Every Scientist that has another explanation that is different than Algore's is paid by the oil companies
8). It is Bush's fault and It does not depend on what the meaning of the word 'is' is

> 1). Gore won the election in 2000
The right wing of america showed its true anti-democratic nature when it obstructed the ballot counting. The supreme court is not an institution that is supposed to be in the business of deciding elections.
> 2). Al Qaeda's recruiters love Bush
no, they hate him, but the Iraq war has boosted their popularity immensely
> 3). Man Made global Warming is Bush's fault
It's no one person's fault, but Bush and his brainwashed supporters are not helping the situation and demonstrate an intellectual laziness that is extremely dangerous
> 4). China is Bush's Fault
I've never head this, China is China's fault

> 5). Tax cuts suck
taxes are now too low for cuts to have any effect of helping the economy. This ideology was created in the 70's when taxes were many times higher than now. This was a policy which worked only in a very specific situation, and then only temporarily. Tax cut ideology is a modern form of bloodletting
> 6). Every Person that does not fall in line with Algore
> hates the earth and want all water and air to be polluted.
Basing your argument on generalities when everyone has different shades of opinion is intellectual laziness.
> 7). Every Scientist that has another explanation that is
> different than Algore's is paid by the oil companies
quite a few are, but the oil companies are wising up to the reality of climate change and the funding for these renegade scientists (almost none of whom are climatologists) is drying up

> 8). It is Bush's fault and It does not depend on what the
> meaning of the word 'is' is
more bland meaningless generalizations. These problems do not start with Bush because he was just a coke-sniffing hard partying rich playboy who was probably written off for serious politics by his family and everyone else except for Karl Rove, who basically molded Bush into his own image of extreme partisan politics, until the 90's. The real question is, has Bush actually done anything positive at all as President? Nothing has gotten better unless you're an already rich investor, but even the smart ones know that these boosts in their portfolios are not sustainable over the long term. Your politics is living on borrowed time (and money).

You should seek treatment you have it bad it appears.
"Bush and his brainwashed supporters are not helping the situation and demonstrate an intellectual laziness that is extremely dangerous"
International Energy Agency" from 2000 to 2004, US carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel combustion grew by 1.7 percent, while in the European Union such emissions grew by 5 percent. The United States under the leadership of President Bush has also been providing technology to the developing world, which is not included in the Kyoto Protocol that binds 35 industrial countries to cutting carbon dioxide emissions by at least 5 percent below 1990 levels by 2012. The United States is not bound by Kyoto targets yet is leading the world in reducing these emissions. Source: Planet Ark

Thanks for making so many valid points there, capecoral. But I think the only one Krugman mentioned in this column was number 2, about al-Qaeda's recruiters having so much success because of Bush's policies.
By the way, the idea of "Gore Derangement Syndrome" is certainly an easy one for several commentators to come up with independently.

Speaking from experience? But alas as so many others of the 20%ers you seem to be suffering a relapse identified by your constant attempts at making Bush blameless for anything. It seems you equate Bush accomplishing nothing with being held blameless for any failure. Thats a prime symptom of the syndrome.

You know it's pretty funny that only those suffering from Clinton Derangement Syndrome see it that way..
You see, Bush is presently our president and you still are obsessed with Clinton..
HE HAS NOT BEEN THE PRESIDENT FOR 7 YEARS! Get over it!
When Bush leaves, we are going to forget him..Well of course except to make sure that no school, highway, airport, bridge, or tunnel ever be named after him.
The only public building to be named after George Gush will be
"The Geoge Bush Sewerage Treatment Plant"..
I'll work relentlessly to be sure of it..

Scuse me fer bein terse. I wuz transfixed by somethin Rovey said below.
I thought it would help matters to explain whut Immanentizin the eschaton means.
First off, you gotta know its immanentizin and not Emanentizin cause the essence of the description is IMMANENT!
See?
For example, we Christian Conservatives LOVE Goerge W. .Bush cause his recklessness with his use of military expansionism - combined with his phenomenally incompetent management of goverment - makes us think that the end is near - or - IMMANENT!
Is Goerge W. Bush the WORST presdient of all presdients?
YES!!!!!
Do we LOVE him for it??
YES!!!!!
Ifn there evea was a man more liekly to ring in the "End of Days" - I simply caint imagine.
Now please you libbies - dont think of it as watchin the destruction of America - and our planet!!
Think of it more liek the joyous rapture of meetin your maker.

Sheee-It do you really believe in Satan? I thought that was for Halloween stuff.
End of days? I'm thinking the world will keep on turning as is has for four billion years. We as humans may or may not. But it is not the "End of Days" for the world. Though it might just be for you and yours.
As for my self I have heard the predictions of the apocalypse. I am still waiting. I have listened to the claims that Jesus is coming. I'm still waiting. I heard in the year 2000 that I would be "Judged" though I am still waiting for the judge.
I also note that many people think Nostradamus was a soothsayer.
I also note that people I have heard people speak about being Christians loudly profess a belief in Nostradamus.
If God and Jesus are in charge and can change life events to one's prayers, then how does the pre-ordained history of Nostradamus obtain?
I would really like a good explanation.

Dave59: No one knows the exact date of Jesus Christs return. We are given signs to watch for in the Bible. A lot of them are happening now. Those who claim to know exact dates and times are usually proven to be false prohets or teachers. They have an angle they are working. Nostradamaus has not been right on many things. His quatrains are vague. God saw all things because he is beyond time as we know it. That is how we have the truths of the Bible unfolding before us. Don't know if that helps. Hope it does.

Right On, Goppy!
After looking at your logic and reasoning, I am thinking about joining the Christian Conservative movement! There is SO MUCH FUN getting rid of things like common sense that tend to anchor us down to the real world! Being vacant upstairs is a bliss like none other! YOU DON'T HAVE TO THINK!
What a relief!
Believe me, being with the "LIBBIES" have created so much anger in me that I had started having compassion for the fallen soldiers and anger for those who lied and sent them there under false pretenses! Not good for a conscious mind!
Once you get to that Nirvana of Ignorance, you are on a dark cloud that gives you peace and comfort!
Almost like adding a touch Buddhism to Christian Conservatism!
Thank you my friend, for opening my eyes to the possibilities of this trash pit and closing my eyes to
reality!
LOL!

Goppy, Did you ever stop and think that Ocala is not the Center of civilisation? Or that maybe no one gives a flying crap what happens in Ocala?
While it may be the center of your small world it certainly is not mine.
And I can tell you something else There are a lot of bedraggled people in this world. They aren't all fellas and they are not all crazy.
Many are pushed down and harassed due to crappy thinking from persons like your self that have about as much compassion as a shark. Some are mentally ill. But you wouldn't care about that would you? You might care if one of your family was, but then they'd just be bedraggled wild-haired people now wouldn't they?
Did you, ever, in the little pea brain that you have realise that people that are different from you are still people?
I always thought that was the Christian ethic...all creatures great and small.
I try to live that way. Do you?
Even as you irritate me I find I can feel sorrow for your ignorance.

He practices a form of parody and satire that is very unique and quite frankly, very entertaining! Almost in the same vein as Steven Colbert of Colbert Report! If you read it carefully, you will understand the humor and the velvet-gloved punches!
I am surprised that he has not received an offer for a book or TV show! He is that good!

What a stupid question, how much do you know about the man that has change this nation...his family are one of the worlds richest, they made their money by building things.
Here a link for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osama_bin_Laden
Bin Laden studied economics and business administration[16] at the Management and Economics School of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. Some reports suggest bin Laden earned a degree in civil engineering in 1979,[17] or a degree in public administration in 1981.[18] Other sources describe him as never having graduated from college, though "hard working,"[19] or having left university during his third year.[20]

The fact remains that the article about Bush (and Gore) is spot on. Bush will go down in history as the absolute worst President of the First 43. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. I hope he retains the title forever. How could anyone possibly be worse?

What Bush has stolen is the value for America's working men and women, seniors, children, the environment, the US dollar, border safety and the American Dream.
The sad part is that you people still follow him blindly.
Here's a question you shoud be asking:
In 2009, or is it 2010, 0r 11 or 12 how do we county how many AlQuaida are still in Iraq and that it is safe to leave?
Is it 30 days without roadside bombs?
60 days? Are we taking a survey to find out if there are fewer there now than in 2003?
When is leaving there through diplomacy no longer considered surrender? Is it when there can be safe streets in 40% of Baghdad, or is it over 50%?? how can we tell?
You have been following a fool who has no plan, even though the greatest military minds in this country, including Colin Powell have advised him otheerwise, you are still willing to
be the cause for more preventable military deaths while waiting for hot dog stands and softball games to come to Baghdad..You people are as stupid as Bush.

What does the future hold? The blind and unquenchable ambitions for power of Hillary.
Of the two, I think Bush is not as self-serving as the Clintons. They are truly corrupt in SO MANY ways.

Scott "because that election and each election since has been STOLEN" Are you suggesting that in the recent election Democrat(ic)s Stole the elections? Interesting
None the less by all accounts Bush was the winner in Florida. A month of controversial court challenges and recounts followed, until the Supreme Court of the United States in Bush v. Gore agreed 7-2 that there were Equal Protection issues in using different standards of counting ballots in different counties. There was the official recount, the hand recount, the chad recount, dimple recount, Miami Harald recount, NY Times recount, all declaring Bush won. Now here is something for Democrat(ic)s to be mad about: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters that the Democratic National Committee's removal of all of Florida's 2008 convention delegates is "essentially meaningless", the Palm Beach Post reports. "The Democratic National Committee is the ruling authority now" she told reporters.

And you are so drunk on the Kool-Aid that you believe all the misinformation spoon-fed to you by your right-wing sources.
All the counties in Florida should have been recounted in 2000...ALL OF 'EM! PERIOD.
And whether or not Gore would be president (and I believe that he would), the result of that election would NOT be in dispute and we wouldn't be having this discussion today!
Jesus CHRIST, you make me tired!
