by John H. Richardson (Esquire) Friday, October 19, 2007 In the years after 9/11, Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann worked at the highest levels of the Bush administration as Middle East policy experts for the National Security Council. Mann conducted secret negotiations with Iran. Leverett traveled with Colin Powell and advised Condoleezza Rice.

Where are the Netscape anchors when you need them? This piece in Esquire is a VERY important item that really ought to be at the top of the page - not only on Propeller but the Netscape home page as well. Here we see a report of DIRECT evidence of ... incompetence at BEST, treason at worst ... reported in the first person from people who were in a position to witness it in person. It is simply amazing that there are people in OUR White House that are working so hard AGAINST our long term best interests. Read this article, then ask yourself again: WHY hasn't an impeachment been started? The next question you might ask yourself: WHO, exactly, voted for these knuckleheads? (other than the Supreme Court, of course...)

It's unfortunate that this story can't make it to the front page; we should get people tp read and comment on it anyway. It's one of the most relevant stories around.

        Great read,

When it happens, and it will happen, Bush will make sure of it before he leaves office, this will trigger WWIII and the end of life as we know it.

Why would people have babies at a time like this?

To purchase the full collection "What the White House Doesn't Want You to Know", you will need a small library or several additional shelves.

I agree that this article should be at the top of the page. And the goons of the MSM should be reporting on this instead of Paris Hilton, Senator Craig or any of the other crapola they inundate us with. Where is the responsibility in journalism?

For that matter, where is there any responsibility in the government. Both parties are complicit in this nonsense. We need an impeachment and we need it NOW!

I agree with you completely but the question is one of the chicken or the egg. Are Americans basically so f.u.cking stupid that we slop up the s.h.it the "media" crams down our throats or are they merely giving the public what it wants?

          FTA

But the engagement strategy was never serious and was designed to fail, they say. Over the last year, Rice has begun saying she would talk to "anybody, anywhere, anytime," but not to the Iranians unless they stopped enriching uranium first. That's not a serious approach to diplomacy, Mann says. Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies. That's how wars are averted. You work up to the big things.

"As disastrous as Iraq has been," says Mann, "an attack on Iran could engulf America in a war with the entire Muslim world."

Which is exactly what Le Shrub wants. Then he'll sign the martial law order and we'll be in deep s. h. it. With the entire Moslem world against us it will be hell on earth.

This should be an extraordinary story but unfortunately its all too believable. What IS extraordinary is the Bush administrations efforts and ability to undermine the very people who would have the most positive effects on thye situation - in this case Colin Powell [yet again], Condoleeza Rice and the principles of this story.

Its like a replay of the Great Game with different protagonists and a scene-change.

How many times does the truth of matter have to be published before even the naysayers start to wonder if there is something to these stories? How many ex-military officers, ex-government consultants, ex-executive staff have to state the agenda of this out-of-control administration before the media, the public, and Congress take them serious?

I feel like Neo in the Matrix. I've taken the pill and see reality, but everyone else (except my aware friends here) is sucked in by the illusions created by the military corporate government media complex. Yeah, I added some names to the list because they are all working together to keep Americans dummied-down and pacified.

I've been saying for 6 months that this administration will attack Iran before they leave office. This article confirms that very intention.

Yet, we are either conspiracists, lunatics, or listening to disgruntled employees and lunatics. Yes, until reality says different. Then it will be too late. Too late.

DarkWizard: First of all thanks for the heads up. Very important story. I agree with you. It seems to me the Bushies have their heads wedged so tightly in an orifice of their bodies. It is cutting off the blood supply to the brain. Yet we continue to discuss things and nothing happens. We need for the da*n congress and senate to get off of their as*ses and Impeach these dangerous bast*rds. Iran, Iraq, whose next? I don't even count Afghanistan that was their dog and pony show to get the whole thing started. I'm sure someone is getting their fair share of the poppies grown there. You know like the golden triangle of Vietnam. I hope these idiots are taken out of office immediately.

The PNAC neocons in our government ought to be arrested and tried for treason and crimes against humanity.

I thought attacking Iraq was about as stupid as anything they could possibly do. I was wrong. Attacking Iran would be even stupider.

If we attack, we can count on an uprising of the Shiites in Iraq, fully and openly supported by the Iranians, that will cause huge casualties to our ground troops there.

We can count on losing at least one aircraft carrier and possibly more in the Persian Gulf.

China gets a lot of oil from Iran and might be tempted to help them out. They might see it as a good time to take Taiwan.

Russia has a long history of good relations with Iran and also will not be pleased.

The entire Muslim world will be convinced that Bush wasn't mis-speaking when he talked about a "crusade." Instead of fighting Islamic extremists, we will be at war with the entire worldwide Islamic population.

There is no upside to attacking Iran.

MonkeyBiz: Copy that. There was no good reason to attack Iraq. Bush has no good reasons. For Bush does not know how to reason. He should be declared legally insane and removed from office and Cheney right along with him. I'm sure there are legal terms for this to happen. Can't people see he is insane? I would call him a chimp but it would insult the mentality of chimps everywhere. Hopefully the United States military would refuse the order to attack. An insane CinC is reason enough to refuse an order. Hopefully they would request a mental and physical examination of Bush before proceeding.

Thanks for the heads up DR, and thanks again to snuffysmith for posting it!

Most of us have been saying that the intentions of this administration have been less than honest with the American people regarding Iraq. Most of us here have also felt that we are not getting the truth about their intentions when it comes to Iran. All I can say now is I see a severe absence of arguments to counter this article, why is that?

Wheres are the loyal Bushies now?

                                cat,

You are entitled to your thoughts, but this time, at least consider the consequences of an attack on Iran.

We just cannot afford to be the Sheriff of the Middle East.

We have zero credibility in the world, undermanned army and absolutely politicized Generals in command.

This will be the end of reason and end of our world as we know it.

There is one culprit in this impending disaster, and that is Shotgun Dickie!

He just cannot get through his head that he doesn't have a clue on the geopolitics of the region and his brain ceased to function when he started pushing for the Iraq war.

The only way to deal with him and his team of terrorists is to impeach him!

Australia would flat-out refuse to help America in attacking Iran - our PM would face riots in the streets if he agreed to help. If the ALP wins Government this election (24/11/07), then the ANZUS treaty may well be a casualty of an attack on Iran.

While I don't dispute the article, can no one envisage the probable outcome of a nuclear armed Iran ? Should this scenario come about, the entire "west" would be under threat (as for Israel, they would be in a KYAG situation)....

Or did you REALLY want oil to hit over 100 USD / barrel ??

I'll bet that a "nuclear armed Iran" is a LOT LESS DANGEROUS than a nuclear armed Soviet Union was, or China is.

                                        Ya' think?

Which is worse, Tel Aviv or Taipei being nuked?

Which presents more danger to Israel, a couple of warheads in Iran, or the entire Muslim world going to war against them, and the U.S.? Are you willing to risk THAT result, just to be sure that Iran can't have even 1/10th the nuclear capability that Pakistan has today?
