Now why didn't the USA think of that first? I'm disappointed in the Bush Administration for not thinking of something like that first! Geeze.

Wrong party. The Democrats keep talking about taxing the internet. They look for ways to shut up the opposition like the "Fairness Doctrine". They can't even admit what they want to do. There was a leak about the "Fairness Doctrine" and it was denied as name calling. A month later they were pushing it. Always trying to do what the majority of people don't want.

Because only Democrats come up with such stupid tax schemes.

"This means that if you want to remain in the blogging zone you are obligated to have or belong to a publishing company and have registered journalists.

The law passed the Council of Ministers on 12 October, and now lies on the Parliament's desk, waiting to become a law."

Damn these laws! What if tomorrow there will be a new idiot law that would state we have to pay a certain tax to own a website...

Simple really... The Italian Govt wants to kill any form of Internet business in their country....

Unless they go the way of China, it's not exactly hard to set up an offshore site....

          Typical brainless politics....

BAN IT !!! WE LOOK GOOD.......

          DF morons....

The proposed Italian law is a sneaky attempt at regulation of the internet media. Even bloggers who don't make any money would be required to file official tax forms to the Italian government. Who knows what info a blogger would have to submit on those forms? Could the Italian government be setting up perjury traps?

This law stinks. Hopefully, it won't be enacted.

If this law IS enacted, then there will be MILLIONS around the world who will and SHOULD ignore it!

Italian law does not apply outside of Italy!

But the final touch would be if the UN, in their undeniable wisdom and ethical purity, decides to form a tribunal and investigate those who dare ignore Italian law.

Oh, the joy of watching this unfold, should it indeed do so.....

              (Sarcasm Intended!!!)

What I fail to understand is why this would be a surprise to anyone---

The Quasi-Socialists that run most all of Europe and seek to take power elsewhere in the world (including the USA) have never seen nor conceived of a Tax they do not like. It's these folks who have created the fantastic economic climate and stupendous rate of economic growth that Europe has experienced in the past 10 years! (Scarcasm intended!)

            Their mottos are:

            1. The bigger the Government, the better the government.

            2. There are always more ways to get more Tax revenue from the citizens, and it's our job to find those ways.

This story should not surprise us.

Instead, it should make us all promise to be more vigilant of what the Quasi-Socialists in our individual countries could be "scheming up" as we electronically speak.....

This is the Italian version of the "Fairness Doctrine" and getting tax money at the same time. The far left has never seen a tax or a method of squelching the opposition they didn't like. Tax cigarettes so the poorest pay more, "Fairness Doctrine", and politically correct talk are all part of their methods.

It seems more important for "Fairness," & political correctness than to get the porn pushers under control & the sexual predators & identity thieves apprehended from their internet exploits. -Rev. S

If anyone wants to write that fascist creep Levi to let him know what you think of his proposal to kill Italy's internet, here is his email:

                    levi_r@camera.it

I'd recommend using a webmail address if you write.
