Comedian Colbert to run as Dem; GOP too costly »
Posted By Aidenag 11 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsFunnyman Stephen Colbert's presidential campaign is apparently no joke. Colbert will file papers late Wednesday or early Thursday to put his name on South Carolina's Democratic primary ballot, a source familiar with his strategy said. He will not file papers as a Republican because of the $35k required to get on the GOP ballot.

But then some democrats would be tempted to change party affiliation. I think this is a well-calculated maneuver. Obviously the 35k is just a scapegoat.

They are trying to get him on all the states ballots, but even if he doesn't list on the ballot you may still write him in as your vote. His campaign site is www.colbert08.us.

Under FEC laws, if Colbert spends more than $5000, he'll
meet the conditions in the definition of a "candidate"
As long as he avoids meeting the conditions for being
considered a candidate, I suppose the FEC can just look the other way. Otherwise, they'd have to take official notice,
and he'd be subject to reporting requirements and other headaches. Probably not what he wants to spend his time
doing.

What's missing is the understanding that this man is a PROFESSIONAL comedian, unlike the present WH incumbent who rates an A for effort but continually fluffs his lines.

LOL, The Dems charge $2,500.00 per state, that is over a 1 mil to get on the ballot in every state. The Republicans elect their candidate by caucus.
The Crooked Dem party wouldn't let Colbert on the ballot in SC even after he paid his $2500.00 on time. Talk about something crooked.

Yeah, democrats are open. Except for Hillary who just had her 60th birthday bash and to attend you had to pay $10,000. Dems sure are the party of the little people!
As for Colbert not running on the republican line, he wouldn't place and besides, he's bound by election laws on how much he can spend since he's on TV every night doing a 1/2 hr campaign commercial.

You might want to look up a definition or two for clarity...I would call her a Statist which is rather general, encompassing both the extremes of Fascism & Communism as well as most points between as long as you're for State control over individual rights. But Communist? Yeah, right...which is why she's such a corporate money hog, right? I mean, those darn pinko commies did love money more than anything, right?

Those are private dinner parties, which have been happening for longer than any of us have been alive by both sides of the isle. the GOP charging 10x as much to be on their ticket is an entirely different matter really. I don't see how you can compare the 2. I guess if say Rudy or Mitt or Fred werent holding $10k dinners as well, your argument might have some solid ground, but as is. It's just reaching....

A lot of people don't seem to realize that as long as he is filed his paperwork he doesn't need to be listed on the ballot to still vote for him as a write-in candidate. I live in Ohio and he's got my vote. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Write-in_candidate

Priceless movie, bit dated, but damn funny. The "None Of The Above" Slogan was great.

Please. This creepy little man is running as a Democrat, because no self-respecting Republican would give him the time of day.

Theve all left the Imwithfred bandwagon over the last month. It's on to rudy now. And when he starts tanking, they will move on to the next Republican.
It's all about the Party, and not the person or our country with the Republican vote this election. Minus the Ron Paul supporters of course.

What I find humorous is that Stephen was sooooo devastated about the Republicans losing the midterm elections (which was probably also just an act) but is now running as a democratic candidate.

South Carolina will not allow Colbert on the ballot.
I would vote for anyone today if he was not a current politician.
Could we do worse?

Ain't gonna happen now.
The moral of the story is: Go hard or go home. If you're not in it to win it you're just wasting time and money.

Sarah Silverman is the WORST show on Comedy Central.
I get Colbert. His schtick is entirely made up of sarcasm. His show is funny but in terms of politics, he really has nothing to bring to the table.

What's to smear? He has some kind of complex that's not normal. He's never "himself". He's always the "anti". That's some quirky personality trait that belongs in therapy not the White House.
