              You inhale more than that when you accidentally get caught under a wave in the ocean and gasp for air. Or when you take a drink of water and it accidentally goes down your trachea rather than your esophagus.

                The point was that people undergoing waterboarding are indeed being forced to inhale water. If not stopped in time, the victims would drown. They COULD drown.

                Basically, what the torturers are doing is slowly drowning someone, then stopping before the victim actually does drown.

                It is NOT a safe procedure, it is TORTURE, and there is NO moral defense of it whatsoever. Hence the point of the article, if you read it.

                  No. You are seriously misinformed. You can get very small amounts of water into your lungs and not die, as long as you can still get some air. The water doesn't kill you--the lack of oxygen does. Do a little research.

                  But this is beside the point. You want to say we argue for the sake of arguing, and you're continuing to do it. I'm arguing so you can't get away with spouting misinformed BS in an attempt to justify your idea that waterboarding is safe.

                  Here's a question for you that has more to do with the article: Is waterboarding performed by the enemy on our troops moral? If your answer is no, but you think we're justified in doing it to them, then...

                I can only speak for the ritual of a Catholic baptisms, which does not involve repeatdly sumerging the child nor having his limbs tied behind his back. The child is fully dressed,held by the Godfather he is leaned over and holy water is poured gently over his head. This act nowhere resembles waterboarding as practiced by the US Government.

                You are pathetic to the point of resorting to such inane use of "humor" to deflect the cruelty that represents the practice of waterboarding.

                Sometimes we have to stand outside our engrained set of beliefs and examine reality to determine whether what we firmly support is sane, you have yet to make that observation.

            One of my conservative grandchildren called today. Little Stevie. He asked me how many of the victims from September 11, 2001 had been waterboarded. I told him that I wasn't sure but that the answer was probably zero. He then said that he was willing to bet that 100 per cent of them would rather have been waterboarded than to have been in the World Trade Centers that day. I think he had a point but I wasn't sure what it was.

                      20 gallon tank. Must be a large vehicle. That's why it costs $60 to fill it. I bet you fill up more often than twice a month too. Seems some of us make better choices in the vehicles we purchase.

                      By Spring it will likely cost you $80 or more. If you keep it for a few more years that tank will cost you a couple C Notes.

      1.) To find it when you seek it.

      2.) To distinguish it from error by examining it.

      3.) To present it to others for rigorous review and commentary.

      4.) To rigorously demonstrate it.

      In this manner it may become our truth.

      He's actually right. One can be conservative without being evil. I'm a social democrat myself and can't see myself EVER agreeing with him on a matter of political philosophy, but I do see the validity of his argument in this case.

        I am really having difficulty understanding you neocons. An RU486 that prevents the egg from attatching causes no pain or even any feeling. Doesn't sound like torture but you say it is. Waterboarding is where water is aspirated into the lungs. I have been a lifeguard for several years and know that water drawn into the airway can cause muscle spasams which can constrict the airway resulting in death. Neocon verdict, not torture. Get real.

        So correct about it being common to most religions. Bhudda said "do not do onto others as you would not want done onto you". My quote may not be exact but the concept is. And Bhudda predated Jesus. It is such a shame too many modern day "christians" don't give a crap about what christ taught. Now we have an attorney general who says that torture depends on who is doing it. That is a big slap in the face to the golden rule.

          Last time I checked it was the liberals condmning torture and W and his Jesus freak cronies who were high on torture. As far as moral relativism it is W and friends who are saying torture is all right under some circumstances or trying to say it is not really torture. It is the libs who are saying torture is wrong period. Also what is Darwinian Atheism? Is it one of those nonsense phrases like compassionate conservatism, or islamofascist where neocons join two words based on their emotional impact with no regard to the actual meaning of the words or reality.

            I would refer to it as islamotheocracy rather than islamofacism. Fascism has more emotional pull than theocracy so W's marketing experts decided to sell us islamofascism despite the term being incorrect. Which British person coined the term. The first I heard of it was when the faux news channel and right wing radio got their orders from the whitehouse. Also none of your claimed combination of islam and fascism is correct except the authoritarian government. And that is only because all A-Hole leaders run athoritarian governments.
