former Republican Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee called Scott McClellan's revelation that "the President himself" was involved in the Valerie Plame scandal "stunning." "They deserve to be thoroughly examined, investigated, and the truth brought to the American people," he said, adding that President Bush should person

I wonder if the conservative enthusiasm for this candidate will be affected by this statement.

My guess would be yes - negatively, as the bearer of bad news, even though its no surprise to anyone who followed the story with alert eyes, ears and nose.

OTOH some democrats might be positively influenced.

Unfortunately people frequently prefer to avoid ugly truths about their "leaders"; this is not uniquely a US characteristic.

It simply makes each day more unpleasant to have to face these realities.

Today especially is a horrible day to have to exclude your President from the list of things that you give thanks for!

Fortunately he's not OUR president and we will celebrate here without that concern.

A Happy Thanksgiving to everyone of whatever nationality, colour, creed, political persuasion!

Not at all,,,, I haven't made up my mind yet, but having the courage to say such a thing adds to his credibility IMO

I would say yea, this could affect him. But I don't know how any American after this news can listen to George Bush and believe anything he says unless you walk in lock step with him.

Remember Cheney and Bush gave there respective statements in private behind closed doors.

Keep in mind there respective testimony the public has never seen or had a chance to review it.

What congress has to do now is request or subpoena those transcripts and Fitzgerald needs to have look at Scott McClellan's transcript and possibly reopen his investigation.

I can see the beginning of Alzheimers Disease speading through the Republican hierarchy; either that or they will soon develop a dependence on Versed ( Midazolam hydrochloride), a drug used to forget.

Its a shame that their belief system doesn't permit them to self-medicate with some more benevolent substances - or of they do they have to feel hypocritical which nullifies the benefits.

Speculating - my expertise on the brain functioning or lack thereof of Bush's minions is virtually nil.

              LOL

Go look at what Scott McClellan actually said. I googled it and this story is ridiculous. The person questioning the Mike Huckabee put words into the mouth Scott that were not said. He never mentioned any specific case. Everyone is reading between the lines to create their own story. Huckabee fell for it. Everyone here fell for it.

What I find stunning is that anyone can find this revelation stunning. For anyone with a head of his/her shoulder, this has been clear as daylight for some time. I guess the only surprising thing is that one of them has finally opened his mouth a bit but, as far as I know, even McClellan says that Bush mislead the nation unintentionally. So what will Bush say when questioned (if ever)? He'll say that he believed that what he said was the truth.

Ignorance is no excuses for breaking the law. He may not have known the leak was intentional, but be assured he was involved in the cover-up. The ghost of Nixon will haunt the halls of Bush's deluded brain.

All the repugs convicted under Watergate, Iran Contra and now Plamegate, may have served a little time (except scotter), but they were all pardonned by Repug Presidents.

The 1873 Supreme Court declared Indians (native that is) as "Un-American and dependant" so that the Repug Congress then could steal their lands, confine them to inhospitable land, and pick up lucrative contracts to provide for them (many more natives then died).

I wouldn't paint Huckabee in such a fine light.

I live in Memphis, close enough to Arkansas to keep up with Huckabee's stint as governor, etc.

Check again. It seems, according to McClellens publisher he was misquoted. Bush never told him to do anything. You people are always jumping the gun, never checking the facts, and always looking stupid in the aftermath. Have a nice Thanksgiving anyway.

"The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White house briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby," writes McClellan in an excerpt from his book, What Happened, which is to be published next April by Public Affairs.

"There was one problem," the long-time Bush aide continues. "It was not true. I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the president himself."

Heaven forbid we quote his video interview confirmations or what was written in HIS book, of which 400,000 copies were published after HE and HIS editors reviewed it and AFTER the person who interviewed him put it in written form.. After all, until Bush saw it, it can't be true unless he says it is true..Right?

Bush never covers up or witholds information in his commitment to honesty and justice.Right??

Just ask Colin Powell and 13 resigned generals, 5 admirals and 7 former cabinet and CIA members. They're all lying and Bush is telling the truth..

(but at least Rush limbaugh finally admitted that the "tough times are ahead for this economy")

As recently as last week he and hannity were calling it "historically vibrant"..These fools are your spokespeople!

Your undying support for Caesar would have been as pathetic as your blind support for a guy who deserves his same fate!

This is America's most shameful era of leadership and those who remain defending it are fools..

I seriously doubt that they will go to "their villas in France". After all, this was the crowd that came up with the term "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" when referring to the lack of support in France for our Iraq policy. And let's not forget "Freedom Fries".

I would suggest some small country in the Caribbean where the banking laws are rather lax. A nice place where they can continue to call themselves Americans and live off their ill-gotten gains.

Or do you mean the man who helped start the entire Iraq illegal occupation? Chalabi..Who fled to America from Jordan where they bwere after him for criminal fraud. He came here to make up enough of a story for Bush to be happy with for an excuse to invade Iraq, only to be found out to be a criminal and thief who had fled from Jordan,

to America, then Iraq and is now hiding in Iran (or some onther nearby nation)..

Well bushie has bought himself a large "finca" in Paraguay. Why? Maybe it has to do with a long tradition of military dictatorships and the lack of an extradition treaty with the US.

Now Huckabee will be attacked by the neocons, they will get personal, malicious and cruel. It doesn't matter what the truth is, what laws were broken, or how it affects the country, their loyalty is designed to keep the party in power and that's all that matters. These are the same people who believe if you don't vote their way you shouldn't be allowed to vote, and in the next breath they preach about democracy, hypocrites to the end.
