For Congress to fail to provide the funds needed by our soldiers in the field is inexcusable under any circumstances -- but it is especially disappointing right now, coming at the very moment when Gen. David Petraeus and his troops are achieving the kind of progress in Iraq that few would have dared imagine possible just a few months ago.

from the article "Unfortunately, too many Democrats have thus far been reluctant to welcome the reality of progress -- instead searching for ways to deny or disparage it."

That pretty much sums up the M.O. of the Congressional Retreat & Surrender Caucus.

Boye! You shure hate the 200 MILLION Americans who think this Iraq War was an incalculable blunder!

Not to mention the even larger number who consider that the way GW and Dick have handled this war has been governed by a wacky ideeological vision.

And we all know that warfare governed by ideeological rather than pragmatic considerations always leads to incompetence.

      But I hear ya Bobo!

OUr Neo-Con vision of the world is been discredited throughout the world - and we just GOTTA keep pluggin away with jingoistic BS to prop up that ding dang Neo-Conism.

I liek how you keep hammerin on that 'Retreat and Surrender Caucus'.

Course, Im reminded of the GW, Dick and Donny bunch as the 'Gang That Couldnt Shoot Strait'. Or - I also liek "If brains were dynomite - they couldnt blow themselfs up!".

      the reality of progress....

Al Sadr's army has been in a 6 month cease fire for nearly 5 months. That is the main reason for the reduction of violence in the civil war over there.

That's one reason. Al Sadr certainly wasn't controlling Anbar was he?

And why do you suppose he decided to stand down as the surge was coming?

The Democrats cannot allow us to win in Iraq. They must defeat our troops on the ground. Their whole strategy for winning the 08 election depends on defeat in Iraq. Dirty Harry Reid says we cannot win, and Murtha comes back from Iraq, and says the surge is working. Then the Democrats bonk Murtha on the head, and he changes his story. They are pathetic.
