It has been more than a year since the first group of Democratic hopefuls announced their candidacy for president of the United States. Seventeen debates or forums have been staged, and more than $150 million has been spent on advertising, polling and other campaign expenses. Pundits have pronounced their conventional wisdom, so easily reversed, on

"The calamitous administration of George W. Bush has slashed and burned its way through Iraq, our Constitution and the remnants of the social safety net. It has pursued imperial aggression, lethal incompetence and crony capitalism as if they constitute official policy, leaving the next president with a multitude of crises, from Iraq to New Orleans to Guantánamo Bay."

Where are the true progressives when their rare opportunity presents itself?

I am present and accounted for, but need millions of vocal, Constitution-loving PROGRESSIVE Americans to help.

bushCo took an important page from the fascist handbook: "Divide and demoralize the opposition."

I expect by now it is illegal for us to take our country back. That is demoralizing.

Don't expect another 37% turn out like the 06 midterms.

This is the type of language that will cause the "progressives" to lose again. Think about it, all these accusations and not a single charge? makes one think those making the accusations are a little on the wimpy side.

Pathetic actually. If someone believes all this and has done NOTHING to stop, thwart or correct it, do we really want to put that person in charge?

That would be a person guarantied to do NOTHING about ANYTHING, cept whine a lot.

What is a progressive? It is a warmed over Liberal, and they aren't going any farther then the Liberals did, because they have no new ideas, no vision, and no clue about National Security. They whine, and complain, but offer no solutions. None. We are 10 months from a Presidential election, and the Democrats have accomplished nothing.

We all have a good idea of what happened and of what's going to happen real soon.

Right now we need a collective conscience to guide our slim chance towards a positive destiny.

I see more of the same. More of our dollar losing value. More jobs sent out of the country. More laws that will make it more difficult to live by. More claims that turn out to be untrue. More promises that are blown off. I guess, if we just ignore it, it won't bother us. Right?
