lol, coming from you AG, im suurrrreee Hillary sees it as heartfelt... haha

Hillary and Mitt, huh? well, cant say either is really a surprise. just goes to show that just because a union endorses a candidate doesnt mean the members will vote for that candidate.

altho romneys not much of a surprise, after all hes coming off wins in Wy and Mich, he had the momentum.... what IS surprising is McCains poor showing, especially considering the time and effort he put into Nv. he better show very well in SC or he may be done.

Good points. Looks like Fred isn't gonna make it, either. Oh, well. Guess I know what's for dinner! ; )

Nevada was considered mormon country for Romney way before the primary.

Let's see how "near beer" Romney does in South Carolina, compared to McCain.

If McCain wins there, I'd say Romney better pack his "Holy underwear" and get back to Utah, no, not Massachusetts, and not Michigan, but back to the can of nuts.

I don't think his particular brand of blasphemy is going to fly in the baptist belt.

He can always lead the nuts in SLC. Maybe they believe in him.

yes, but its very admirable the way that you are willing to pull your chair up to the table and dig in. a person of honor admits when they are wrong. a Colbert tip 'o the hat to you! do you think any1 will drop out B4 super duper tuesday?

I wouldn't worry too much Alpha. While I was rooting for Fred (for economic reasons) Romney will do just as well.

Truth be told, in the end, we wealthy will do well regardless of Romney, Hillery, or Giuliani. We will still rule by government subsidy.

I will admit this AG - I like you more than most right-wing people because you are at least willing to concede when you've lost.

Now our respective philosophies, that's another matter - but at least a civilized discussion/debate is possible between moderate lefties like me and courteous righties like you.

Hey, Alpha!

I noticed something!

A Right Wing and a Left Wing!

That must give a you nice, balanced flight! Easy to maneuver, too!

LOL!

Alpha,

Looks like Cornflake Freddie is throwing in the towel!

Did you hear his speech tonight?

It was hilarious and empty, like his campaign!

It is interesting that Hillary got more votes, but Obama got more delegates in Nevada!

I understand the delegates select a party's nominee!

So, who really won?

Take a guess!

avatar
Reply

I beg your pardon, search, but Fred's speech was one of the best I've heard in a while. He made me proud. I wish it could have gone better for him. But that's the way the cookie crumbles. Now onward to Florida! :D

And big whoop about Hillary and Obama. Six of one, half-dozen of the other. ; )

avatar
Reply

Considering Obama got more delegates - I'm going to hand Nevada to him.

avatar
Reply

That was very odd. I'd never heard of anyone giving a*pre-concession* speech before. He sure did sound beaten down though.

avatar
Reply

He did get quite emotional there a couple of times. I loved his speech.

avatar
Reply

The Fred is dead.

Also Hillary won is only symbolic, as Obama picked up most delegates

avatar
Reply

earth, it will not matter one whit how Mitt does in SC. He's still got the most delegates going into Florida and however he does in SC will not stop him one bit. He's already in Florida!

avatar

Okay, after Miami and those Boca folks shut him down, will that be enough for you to say it's over for him? One word for Romney in Florida and mainstream USA... anathema.

If he wins FL, I'll just stop ranting about the flip-flopping, massachusetts-ruining (no, it wasn't as bad off until HE got there), racist mormon that he is.

Did I mention he doesn't drink BEER, and doesn't like to see bare boobs??!?! Hey, you can vote for "that kind of guy", but I'm AMERICAN.

The Boca area is especially funny. I went to several chinese buffets, and none of them had pork or shellfish on the table! And all the "early birds" (I'm very thrifty, you know) Spoke Yankee!

The known hatred of Mormons for blacks, and the sheer "Baptistness" of the state.

Yeah, the Idaho, Utah and Arizona (slim chance) primaries are coming, but what else?

Of course, he might take the Bristol area, or half of it.

Okay now you're spreading misinformation. The Mormons stopped that practice in 1978, in large part due to Mitt Romney and his family's efforts.

A black person or any other person of color can not be a member of the 12 apostles or be president of the mormon church to this day and are described as "the race of Cain" in the Book of Mormon, that did not change in '78.What did change after a lawsuit was that blacks could be Bishops, the lowest rung on the ladder.

avatar

Why did Cain murder Able? Because God forsook Cain and his hard labor of growing crops over the easy shepherd work. GOD was the motive for Cain's crime.

I have no problem with his religion, but you are right, he's not American. Right now, I'm not sure he's a man.

"In 1978, church leaders ceased the racial restriction policy after declaring that they had received a revelation instructing them to do so. The church currently opposes any form of discrimination or racism.

In 1997, there were approximately 500,000 black members of the church, mostly in Africa, Brazil and the Caribbean. Since then, the black membership has grown substantially, especially in West Africa, where two temples have been built."

lol, even Gladys Knight is a Mormon!

"This weekend, the church-sponsored Genesis Group for black Mormons is commemorating the 1978 revelation with several events, including performances of the play ''I Am Jane,'' the story of Jane Elizabeth Manning James, a black woman who was active in the church and traveled with Mormon pioneers in the late 1840s.

On Sunday, the actual anniversary, singer Gladys Knight -- one of the church's best-known black converts -- will conduct the Saints Unified Voices, a 110-person multiracial choir."

Too bad Gladys can't be an apostle or president because she is considered the race of Cain. The racial restriction was lifted on Bishops only.

No darling, it was the priesthood and they stopped this practice in 1978:

"From the end of the 19th century until 1978, The CLDS did not allow black men of African descent to be ordained to the priesthood or allow black men or women of African descent to participate in temple ordinances such as the Endowment and sealing. In the early church, at least two black people were ordained by Joseph Smith, Jr., but they weren't permitted by later presidents of the church to participate in temple ordinances.

Nevertheless, blacks could be baptized, and many black people joined the LDS Church prior to 1978. Church leaders taught that the priesthood ban didn't justify other forms of discrimination against blacks. In 1978, church leaders ceased the policy after declaring that they had received a revelation instructing them to do so. The church currently opposes any form of discrimination or racism."

Sorry AG but those of us who live right smack dab in the middle of the mormon capital of the world, mormons and non mormons alike, know that -

1-there are no such thing as "priests" in the church

2-blacks can not be a member of the 12 apostles or president of the church.

3-The Book of Mormon describes blacks and native Americans as "the race of Cain",this can not be refuted.

4-while the church might say they're not racist,UT is one of the whitest states and the most mormon state and after living here for over 20 years I can tell you that they are quite prejudiced against both blacks and native Americans.

5-"curse of the negroes"...

In SC, put final nail in coffin for that war monger McCain. The Jewish Pig from CT is in Miami telling Cuban Americans that McCain, if elected, will take on Ahmedinjad, Castro & Chavez. You know what that means?. He will invade Iran, Cuba and Venezuela.

These war mongers should be put at rest at all costs.

Vote for someone who is talking peace.

Acer, Howard Hughes expanded Las Vegas with the assistance and help from Mormons. There is a large base of Mormons in Nevada so no surprises here.

I would have you ponder one point, In 1857 a wagon load of American immigrants were crossing over someones land and then they, the 106 men, women and children were slaughtered at Mountain Meadows and their possession stolen for not being of a certain faith. Do you know what that faith was, Mormonism the cult. Mormonism equates to cults such as Jim Baker's and others. Can you trust one in the White House. Most Republican cannot and I can understand their concerns.

Now if the Golden Tables were produced and lost by an uneducated Joseph Smith just maybe I would not use the word, "Cult".

So sick how ethnicity, religion, race and nationalism controls all our lives but I am a realist and accept this one abiding truth while others say, you are racist. Right, I'm wrong!!

avatar
Reply

The Christian Crusades killed hundreds of thousands in the middle East how can u trust any Christian in the White House? Muslims kill people all over the world every day. For that matter so do Hindus Atheists poeple of every religion have been involved in killing at some point in their history. To use that as an excuse to not vote for someone is stupid. Base your vote on the issues at hand and a candidates personal history not that of their race or religion.

avatar
Reply

lycase, your analogy about the crusades, not a good one. Both sides in the crusades did their fair share of killing. Should have used the inquisition as your example.

When the Mormons accept and acknowledge the "Mountain Meadows Massacre" as a sin rather than dispute or hide it then many opinions would change. Remember, for all that killing your religious elders were not prosecuted but one lamb, Mr. Lee was executed for the wrong committed by many including Brigham Young.

avatar
Reply

I don't see how that counters my point that the history of a candidates religion or race is irrelevant to their personal character and beliefs and therefore their religion ought to have no impact on whether someone votes for them.

avatar
Reply

lycase, Did not mean to neg you but only to post, sorry. Anyway my point and why a persons religion should matter!!

Scary is my counter. If his religion fails to acknowledge a serious wrong by its elders how can you trust a man brought up with the tenets of that religion. For me it would be scary to have a man with the ethics taught by that religion. If I had a brother who committed this sin I would denounce him, Mormonism has never repented or placed the blame where it should have been placed and consequently what is Mr. Romney's ethics and morals when taking that into account?

avatar
Reply

Actually Romney has talked about how his religion has had doctrines in the past that he disagrees with including how he cried in joy the day that the mormon church decided to accept blacks and hes talked about how he doesnt believe in the practice of multiple wives because its morally wrong. Every religion has black marks in it's history that doesnt mean that all followers of that religion are bad people.
