War Pigs Some of what our soldiers see. »

There is no commentary in this. Only the music. I'll leave it to everyone to decide for themselves. Would you want to be there? When you came home should we make sure you have a place to live?

You might have to type in Black Sabbath War Pigs. To get the footage it's listed as political footage.
Made me remember how much I hate war. And how little we are shown of the realities of it.

Thanks gramps:
The business of war is waged by greedy pigs and it's all about the money. That is what I saw. I saw explosions and weapons and the cash register ringing as the profiteers fill their pockets with money drenched in out sons and daughters blood. That is what I saw. What I heard was the sound of a harsh truth while silent eyes watch and wait in darkness.

That is the BEST description of what I saw! Thanks for putting it into words. Sometimes, I had to look away...especially when those grinning, lying, sociopaths' faces were onscreen.
Thanks to you, grandpa for putting it right in our faces this way. A whole lot of people need a serious wake up call!

Thanks Candida ... I guess that says it all .... grief... and for what. It would be one thing if it were for a just war, but in this instance that doesn't hold true. The grief was needless....avoidable. I feel for those "innocents" on both sides of the battle, as well as the good men and women that followed orders and were killed or maimed.

Thanks, cowboygrandpa! Great submission. And I agree with JohnQPublic that Dylan's "Masters of War" is a better song (and I am partial to Edwin Starr's "War" over both), but "War Pigs" seems to be fitting for this footage.
We would have woke sooner if the media here didn't have a blackout on the realities of war there. Unfortunately for us, the media seem to think it is in their interests to keep us in the dark! We are slowly waking up only because more are getting news from the internet and other alternative sources.
Thanks. Good job!

Great post. Not enough focus in a lot of articles on what the true cost of the war is, so these illustrate that nicely. My favorite is still
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUMUx2Hgy4I
illustrating what this idiocy in Iraq is costing us

One of the ladies there reminded me of my aunt June. When we buried my cousin, Dec. 22, 1969.
Marine on his second tour of duty in Nam. Buried a dogtag and a boot. I was in Nam three months later. The woman cried the rest of her life, my uncle never had a good day after that. He lived until Dec. of 1995. My aunt died in march of '86 the doctor said she had just lost her will to live.
The casualties of war are not just on the battlefield.
Great video thanks for adding it in.

Dunkirk,
Tears just don't roll down any more!
The pain has dried out my eyes...
All that is left is anger!
What would Jesus do?
Would He cry, too?
Peace and Blessings!

CBG,
One of the best commentaries on this god-forsaken war!
Fantastic post! Thanks!
The days of this evil empire are numbered:
366 to be sure! Or maybe less, if we are lucky!
Peace and Blessings!

I'm reminded of a quote from someone who knew war well...
"It is well war is so terrible, lest we grow too fond of it."
Robert E. Lee
Until our leaders are held accountable;those who have avoided war will declare it for no reason...and sacrifice those who serve for the profits of a few...
(PS...Great first submission Gramps!!!

Thanks my friend.
Robert E. Lee was right all the way.
From a friend of mine in Nam. "People who love war have never fought it or are crazier than we are. Either way they don't know what the hell they are talking about."
I laugh at it now, but it wasn't funny then. And it's not funny to our troops or their families.

That is exactly the reason why the power to declare war was vested in the Congress and not in one crazy person who may get elected by electors.
Our Founding Fathers knew what they were doing!
Unlike the spineless Congress that illegally granted the authority to just one such person!
Some of them - like Hillary Clinton - do not even want to admit that they made a mistake!

I'm glad many have not had to go to war. War is the failure of man to be able to communicate and act responsiblly towards their fellow man.

You've hit the nail on the head. I think that many politicians today see war as a means to an end or a way to make a profit. You are absolutely correct that war is in fact one of mans greatest failures.

I can't even imagine the horrors people suffer, in all the wars. Those sirens going off is a terrifying sound.
One of my dearest friends grew up in nazi Germany, she isn't Jewish and didn't suffer the horrors of the holocaust, but there was still plenty of suffering for many civilians living in war zones, especially if you weren't with the Hitler elite. She tells me of bombs dropping on her home, lack of food and water, fear of not only other military but also German military. Her whole town destroyed, friends and neighbors gone or killed, it's just hideous.
If America was attacked like that, lived through a war here at home, on the scale of many 9/11s, only going on for years and all over the place, how would the desire to go to war change? I think alot!

I'm pretty pugnacious. When I have to, I will fight with a viscousness that has never yet failed me. In high school, I was 5' 10" and 125 lbs. but I beat the living crap out of a 6' 6", 280 lbs. bully who got in my face. So I am not a pacifist.
Nonetheless, I believe VERY strongly in staying out of fights you can avoid. I like to watch the 6 o'clock news. In return for that privilege, I let my wife have the controller for the rest of the day. She channel surfs for several hours after the news then falls asleep. I then dial in something that interests me. No fighting needed.
The USA should do the same. Don't go half way around the world and try to tell someone in Timbuktu how to govern their country. Live and let live. Stay out of fights except when some idiot brings the fight to you. Then unleash a fury like no earthly force has ever seen. If need be, turn the aggressor into a glass parking lot. We've been interfering in the affairs of other nations too long.

Amen to that.
I can't say I never looked for a fight, because I have. That was when I usually had my as* handed back to me.
We can be one hell of a fighting force when we need to. But right now we don't need to.

This whole situation is just so sad and both the soldiers and civilian population are victims in this bloody mess.
Luckily, here in the UK (and Europe) we aren't being force fed with reals of media propaganda when it comes to reporting the war. Most Europeans are under no illusion as to the hypocrasies and spin being ejected by those in power to defend their reasoning behind this madness.
Unfortunately, I believe this is not always the case with news reporting in the States, which explains why there are still a great deal of citizens believing that yeah, good old U S of A is fighting our "war on terror" - and once it's done - we will all live happily ever after.

The mainstream media in the USA are owned primarily by huge corporations with a vast profit stake in everlasting war. Fortunately, they are loosing their grip on information distribution. If they continued as the kings of info, their corporate greed would destroy all life on earth without their realizing that means them too. These are NOT stupid people, they are just so driven by greed that they miss the essentials of human existence.
In America's corporate world of today, short term profits determine financial rewards. Cheat, lie, steal, bribe or whatever it takes; if a corporate executive delivers a greater quarterly return s/he gets a bonus and moves up the chain of command. Even if they eventually get fired for all the corruption, they get a 100 million dollar golden parachute to soften the landing. This is the short-term focus that produced meltdowns like Enron, Worldcom and now the subprime mortgage disaster that is dragging the entire economy of the world into the doldrums.

Thanks Cowboy. That song takes me back to some ugly times, and it fits the ugly times our young troops are experiencing now. War should be the last, desperate option of survival necessity, not a political policy.
I hope that the lies that produced this war, and the lives that it has cost, will be atoned for by the chickenhawks responsible for it.

what an absolutely horrid reply! is it that you are against people seeing the realities of war? or that you are against showing those who got us there for what they are?
if you HAVE THE NERVE to support this illegal war, YOU BETTER HAVE THE NERVE TO WATCH!
a reply like yours states, FOR ALL TO SEE, that you do NOT "support the troops", but in fact all you do support is the lying trolls who sent them to endure the hell this video depicts.

Just a little history about the song War Pigs from Black Sabath. There is two versions of the song. The version that most people hear, and what is in the video is the second remade version. The original song, which I forget the original name, was mainly about witchcraft. The song quickly got band because of the so call evil associated with witchcraft and they were told to re-write the song. Therefore Black Sabath re-wrote the song and exposed the hypocracy of a system that view a ancient practice that has hardly ever shown to hurt anyone such as witchcraft and compared it to evils of warfair. Hense, Generals gather int he masses, just like witches in black masses.

To KMFDM:
I've always read the original name was "Walpurgis", which (if you wiki that) has to do with a Halloween-like festival from Northern Europe.
I hadn't heard that Sabbath was "told" to re-write the song. I always thought they did to make it better.

Did you suffer a head wound while you were a jarhead, or did you just not bother to read the posts before passing judgment and commenting on them?
There are no posts on this thread protesting the troops (so far). Being against the war in Iraq and the people who started it, is NOT the same as protesting against the troops. As a matter of fact, opposing an unnecessary war is PRO-TROOPS.
Also, your silly he-man rant sounds suspiciously like a REMF poser. I think you may be sniper01 in a new incarnation.

wow, for some one to have it on their cd in their truck, you really havent listened to the lyrics of the song, have you? The song is a blast agaisnt the politicians and rulers that send the poor and weak bastards, namely you, to go off and fight and die for their own causes. Not for the protection of the masses who slave everyday in order to produce tax revenue to pay for it.
Ozzy in the white house? The guy is on enough pain meds and is whipe out from all the drugs he has done, he probally though he was in Disney Land. Hey look, there is Mikey Mouse, Goofey, Pluto, and Donald Duck!
Since when did Goofey get a Texan accent?
