"You take that framework of people feeling locked out, shut out, marginalized and disrespected," he said. "You go from Iraq, to Palestine to Israel, from Enron to Wall Street, from Katrina to the bumbling of the Bush administration, to the complicity of the Democrats in not stopping him on the war, stopping him on the tax cuts."
"In that context, I have decided to run for president," Nader told NBC's "Meet the Press."

Nader is an ass he will not win, he knows very well that the DEMS doesn't have the vote to stop the Prez...he seems to me responsible for all of this after taking away votes from Al Gore and handing the office to Bush, the nerves of this stupid man to do this again. He is a GOPer pretending to be Indy to me! He is a waste of time.

the man is a fool, he knows full well he doesn't stand a chance of winning. if he believes in his ability to lead, why not do it in an orderly manner? why not join a party?

You agree with Nader and you will vote for a Democrat? Didn't he say that the Democrats are complicit and not doing anything to stop the GOP? I guess this has turned into a election about who get's the power and not who will help this country. My man is out of the race but if I have to vote for the better of the Candidates, It will be Mccain. At least he has a record and is a patriot that has ALWAYs been proud of his country.

I can't disagree with Nader's analysis/orientation. It's as plain as the nose on my face. I DO have a problem with vote splitting, however. Also, if Ron Paul and the Libertarians can't get media traction independently, what does another independent expect to do? IMHO, they should amalgamate and form that third party option we've been waiting for - hoping for. If they can bend a little and consolidate a unitary force they might draw some interesting people away from other parties. Otherwise, it's just drop in the bucket - wishful thinking stuff...

Nader should run ---- run as fast as he can away from the election & better yet this country. I lay the deaths of all in Iraq at his feet. If not for him & the misguided who voted for this meglomanic, Bush would not be in office & the U.S. would be in much better shape

This is what Ralph Nader does--it's how he makes his living. Send him your money and he'll have a salary for the next four years.
Me? I think I'll vote for Harold Stassen.

I am an Obama supporter, and yes I can name many of his legislative accomplishments. Now my whole problem with a Nader candidacy is not his platform because while he may be FAR left from a conservative's view, I think he is right on when it comes to environmental issues, free trade, banking reform, and other corporate issues, but he is not a legitimate candidate in that he has no chance of winning and moreover really has no strong foreign policy experience, he is a consumer advocate, and a GREAT one at that. Now I believe anyone should be able to run for President, and I agree that the 2 party system is not serving Americans as it should but I think Nader isn't really getting anything accomplished except perhaps to split votes and change the outcome of these races. Now Nader was right to say that it's not his fault Gore lost, more people should have VOTED for him, especially in his home state. I mean people VOTED for BUSH again, that's not Nader's fault.

You can name his legislative accomplishments but which ones have had an impact on anything of importance? Has he helped our economy? What has he done about illegal immigration? What has he done to stop in your view, an illegal war? What had Obama done to help poor people?
At least Mccain has dealt with immigration, war, and other policy's that you can put out on the table and see where he stands. Obama, who knows where he stands. Like you Obama supporters, all we can do is HOPE that he says something with substance. going to his Website doesnt help. Everything on there is so vague and it reads like a motivational book. We aren't looking to vote for Tony Robbins. We are looking to vote for a leader.

And leaders do what.....draw us into unwinnable wars, expose the country to mass illegal immigration, spend the country into massive debt, propagate a recession (or worse)through illegitimate economic practices?
I think your model of a leader is warped into an ideological concept.
Leaders lead to SUCCESS. Not FAILURE.

I can't wait for the debates!
Lugar-Obama Nonproliferation Legislation...pretty important if you ask me...Legislative Transparency and Accountability Act, a comprehensive ethics and lobbying reform bill... if you simply take the time to research the 152 bills he sponsored you would see what he stands for...veterans rights, expanded healthcare for veterans, nuclear nonproliferation, education, transparency in government contarcts, ethics and transparency in congress, lobby reform, and on and on and on...for the amount of time he has been in the senate he accomplished more than most do in that same timeframe, just the nature of the senate. And what has he done for poor people...LOL...he worked on the streets of South Chicago working with issues of poverty and homelessness, he also worked as a civil rights attny.

But again my point is that he is a consumer advocate and thus I feel he is simply trying to make a statement here, and while I understand his intentions, I don't see what good will come of it, perhaps he should concentrate on his primary line of work, while at the same time, developing the Green Party to a point where it can be viable and run candidates that are not just speaking to a few of the issues but to all issues. Or cultivate a new third party, either way I think he will get less than 1% of the vote. Also he says that Republicans and Democrats are displeased with their choices, I STRONGLY disagree, Democrats as a whole are extremely pleased with our choices this year...Richardson, Biden, Kucinich, and Now Obama and Clinton...Republicans may shudder but as a party the Dems have a great pick this year and I think it will be Obama and I will be proud to campaign for him and continue to send him money. How can Nader say the Dems don't like Obama so he has to run to save the day?

This time Nader will be a non issue. With a disastrous invasion & occupation (i would not call it a war), raping of our constitution, Bush listening to your phone calls and reading your e-mails, suspension of habeas corpus, the gas price crisis, mortgage crisis, bankruptcy crisis and economic crisis,
there should be no reason for voters "with brains" to waste their valuable votes on a spoiler who has no agenda, no support and not a chance of winning anything.
Obama said it right. Voting for Nader will not "PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE" FOR MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.
Let us get real.

Quote: President John McCain.
Yes, 4 more years of Iraq, invade Iran, Venezuela, Cuba and tax cuts to Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Warren Buffett and gas prices at $5 per gallon.
2012:
Gas at $10 a gallon, half of American homes foreclosed, half of Americans in line for bankruptcy, China owns $25 trillion loan to McCain.
WE ARE WINNING IN IRAQ, TRUST ME.

but he has the same ability to energize people and create a unified theme or movement...I don't know, I like the guy and I'm not a bill clinton lover, I don't support Hillary, I am certainly biased, but nothing you said "damn liberals" really means anythings. I don't think I have ever read any post from you that had real substance to it...you're the minority of the country, your the fringe that still approves of Bush and can't embrace and candidate unless it has the proper letter after his/or her name.

I really dont believe he will make much of a difference this time around. It will depend on Texas and Ohio. If they do the right thing and end this race for Hillary , Obama will build even more popularity before the main race and will be a very strong canidate for the General election.
Of course he will have to be more specific on his plans in that race. I do believe however he is a great communicator and will do very well getting his points and plans out. This is a man who knows how to get down to the averages mans level and communicate with him in his language. He has been able to enspire thousands to become active in this election that before would not had been. The fact that this has occured is proof that this man has already brought about a positive change in the US.

On the other hand if the demo. vote for Hillary then they will have handed the election once again over to the rep. and any vote that she might become will be effected by Nader running.
