Posted by: not2needy 6 months agoEver since that last debate in which Hillary sounded like a scold and Barack came across as the prince of America, I've been trying to find a word for Obama's style. Koolth is what I've come up with.

FTA:
I could have said sprezzatura -- that gorgeous Italian word which means making the difficult look easy, but Americans hate foreign words -- especially in campaigns and book titles. So I've coined koolth. What it means is: contemporary, relaxed, easy, breezy and sure. Obama exudes it. HRC seems as ******y and prissy and apoplectic as, say, Tim Russert. Yes, the press ganged up on her. Yes, she was one woman and a bunch of hostile guys -- as usual. But she should have kept her cool. Obama bested her with his divine koolth.

I can assure you buddy this "Hussein" has exactly what it takes to not be dancing and smiling with swords among oppressive bloody oil charlatan princes from Saudi Arabia like you know who. Proof that the name means nothing and the inside is everything! So is his name your problem or is your problem the mess that the guy with that name will have to clean up starting January 2009?

They are both Dems in a democratic year. And they both have similar views of the repugnican disaster that's undone our country in seven lean mean years. They are both competent and strong and hard-working. Either of them would be far better than Bomb Bomb McCain and his party of snaggle-toothed dinosaurs.

You had better check your math. The midterm elections were held in November 2006, with the newly-elected Democratic Congressmen taking office in January 2007. This means they've been office only a little longer than 1 year, not 2 years, and Republicans had been in office for 6 years before that (2001-2006).

There are three reasons my vote is going to Mr. Obama.
First, he has the demonstrated vision to take the right stand even when it is politically risky. Witness his opposition to the Iraq War. Hillary lacks this.
Second, the has the leadership qualities to inspire Americans to work together to pull this nation up out of the pit our leaders and selfish voters have driven us into over the pst 40 years. Hillary doe not.
Third, he can beat John McCain. After making superior experience her only claim to fame, Hillary can't beat McCain. For those who accept that experience is all that counts, McCain is light years ahead of Hillary.

In closing, Hillary's argument that experience is the only measure of leadership quality simply won't hold water. Excluding George W. Bush, James Buchanan is widely credited as the WORST president we have ever had. He presided over the dissolution of the union and outset of the Civil War.
In stark contrast, Abraham Lincoln is arguably the best president we ever had, and almost certainly the least experienced. Against almost insurmountable odds, he restored the union and kept America alive.
Interestingly, he shared a trait with Obama that Hillary loves to mock as useless. Lincoln too was a great orator.

I sense that your age is slight..How many presidential candidate speaches have you ever heard?? Do you really beleive any of that hot air ?? All they want is your vote, after that they care not about you...In the first place--each and every candidate has already been bought by big business..to act for big business..
Second for any one that votes for any one with a muslim background is, well, not smart..
Third--why has he never voted for, or introduced any bills of contention ??

Wasn't he in the IL legislature when the war started? Certainly not risky or courageous to take that position when he didn't have to vote on the issue

What in his record would lead you to believe that? Has he supported bipartisan legislation in the Senate?? I only found one instance - Clinton voted against the energy bill itself because it was stuffed with oil industry incentives. Obama supported the legislation. He supports the massive subsidies for corn farmers, supports the 54 cents/gal tariff on sugar-based ethanol from foreign sources, and supports a gas company tax credit to cover 30% of the cost to install E-85 pumps at service stations - up to $30,000.

Ultra-Liberal Barack Obama, in all that he says he brings to Washington, will not have the support of a Congress that has to perform more as a moderate in order that they retain their electability back home. We do not need another Jimmy Carter. Hillary Clinton can and will be able to hit the ground running and will have Congressional support from both sides of the aisle. Eliot Spitzer, here in New York, has fizzled because he could not move the Legislature. It will be the same or worse with Obama. We need Hillary at the helm...Period.

Hillary is a very polarizing presence. The Republicans hate the Clintons and have demonstrated that in the years during and since Bills presidency. What makes you think that they are going to be so willing to work with her now? I can still clearly remember "the vast right conspiracy".
And what are all these comparisons of Obama to Carter? I don't see any connection at all.

Erica Jong, like many other self-proclaimed "feminists," sees Hillary Clinton as the standard bearer for her cause. And she will not be dissuaded by Sen. Clinton's spotty record of performance, "As a feminist, I see clearly what we need: confidence that our positions are right and inevitable." Inevitable. Isn't that the word we heard most often associated with Clinton only six months ago?
It looks like a considerable amount of self-delusion has taken root, not only in the Clinton campaign, but among those who imagined that she is something more than a self-serving, power-seeking politician.

Wow!!!!
I have a few democrat friends that have told me the same thing about him being the Anti-Christ. Many people have made that claim about many people for the last 2,000 years and as of today they have been wrong 100% of the time.
If you study the bible enough, you'd know that Revelations was written about Rome in the time when Christianity was in its infancy. Many people have seen the signs of the times (earthquakes and world political problems have always been with us). They have set dates of the 'COMING' and after the day passed they re-set the date.

Has there ever been a President that WASN'T accused by some circles of being the 'anti-christ'? I remember my Jehovah's Witness cousins telling me how they were certain Mt. St. Helens going off in 1980 was a sure sign of the end of the world and when Ronald Wilson Reagan (666) took office that was all the 'proof' they needed to pack up their family and move out to the remote country, to wait for the end.

Interesting blog. I don't think I'd get along well with the writer though. I don't buy the idea of a media bias for Obama the whole election. From almost day one Hillary was sold as a "sure thing". I think she's partially correct about why Obama is winning though. She just overlooks that on the "little things" that are different, policy wise, might be a "big thing" to others. Like her mandatory health care. I can't bring myself to vote for her if she's making it mandatory. I can agree with her other points on it... just not the mandatory part. That, to me, is a big thing. Big enough I may not vote for her in a general election. The little policy differences to one can equate to a big policy difference in someone else. Its not all just the style. I also felt like Clinton v Giuliani was being shoved down my throat from day one... where is the bias that she mentioned? The press is consistent, they side with the winner. Good job voters, you ignored the bias.

There was a great political cartoon by Wright in my paper this morning. It shows a man looking out at the reader and saying (frame by frame) 1) Obama is frighting.
2) Remarkably Intelligent.
3) Articulate. Good on his feet.
4) Doesn't rattle. has a sense of humor.
5) Young. Popular. Has a plan.
6) Awakened voters from a deep sleep.
7) Why don't we call it what it is?
8) Some kind of weird cult.
