Politics – An internal Justice Department report has found more improper use of national security letters by FBI agents seeking personal data on Americans during terror and spy investigations, Director Robert Mueller said Wednesday.
I see one of the administration apologists.. stopped by to sink the story.. these people will after then next election see EXACTLY how few people share the view that the Bush / Cheney years have been a good thing.. ..
YOU obviously overlooked that it was the Bush/Cheney justice department that put a stop to it. It's really unfortunate you have to be so lowly as to chastise someone for exercising his or her right to sink this story.
Just for that, I'm gonna retract my "vote" and give it a "sink," too. Not because I support what the FBI did, but because sinking the story so obviously annoys you.
And when we get attacked by terrorists here because we couldn't wiretap them, then everything will be Bush's fault again. You see how this works? Democrats Undermine Bush's ability to make us safe and then blame him not making us safe enough.
I have been compiling personal information to give to my Government. Banking info, tax reports, Credit report, but alas I am too boring. The Government could care less about people not involved in suspicious activities. They don't have the time or the manpower to check on you unless it is a mistake, then they go on to someone else. It you are not cheating on your wife, lying to the IRS, building bombs in the basement, who cares if they check you out. I damn sure don't.
Sorry, but past records of the FBI (such as having an informant spend months at Quaker peace meetings with detailed notes on each member including past histories and such) show exactly the opposite. They have plenty of money to waste on such invasions of privacy thanks to Bush, and apparently wasted no time in breaking the law.
Aren't you concerned about their breaking the law, seeing as how you're such a law-abiding citizen who upholds the constitution? Interesting how you never address that.

you really are not aware to the capabilities of data mining programs.. are you...

NO BUT LET ANYONE SUGGEST ANY MEASURE, NO MATTER HOW MUCH SENSE IT MAKES, INVOLVING GUN OWNERSHIP... AND YOU AND YOUR ILK WILL CRY AND CRY AND CRY.. YOU'RE INFRINGING ON MY RIGHTS.....
Seems like a healthy DISRESPECT for Rule of Law by a politized Attorney General and FBI. These are FELONIES fellas.
It is kind of pointless arguing with the far right about this. They believe that they need a father figure to protect them. All the figure has to do is mouth the proper things they want to hear (e.g. the terrorists hate us for our freedom), and they will give away all the constitutional protections that the founders of this nation fought for.
If any of them had a sense of history they would note some of the other places that the same thing has been said (i.e. it doesn't matter if the government knows everything we say or do if we've done nothing wrong). I'll give them a hint, not one of those places was a democratic republic. What they fail to realize is they don't know what the government might decide is wrong, and if government agents come to take them away, they will be presumed guilty and not allowed to defend themselves, innocent or not.
They rightly criticized Clinton when he took liberties with the constitution, but they really believe that Bush is on their side.
The good news' it is heart-felt to know that even the "good-guys" can do a big boo-boo; the bad news' that it was the director of the FBI admitting that he can snoop-out legal, and innocent folk for a political party.
What am I missing? Oh, the fat-guy in a tutu signing we is all patriots...we're here to stamp-out Commies, er, Ruskies, er, ******oos, er, Mafiosa, er, terrorists...er, New World Order, er, terriers?
