The story that's at the center of the storm today is this one from Ronald Kessler at the conservative-oriented NewsMax.com. "Obama attended hate America sermon," it's headlined. NewsMax has now posted a "clarification" that says its reporter can't give a specific date of when this was supposed to have happened.

        Found a home? It was born and raised there. This is about changing the American peoples thought process, they don't care that it's wrong, they just care about getting in into the minds of the people.
        Like whites are voting for Obama because they feel guilt, that in it is quilting the white voters into not voting for the black man because you are not thinking straight in essence, how can you be in the right frame of mind and vote for a ******. Disregard the fact that his ideas are in line with yours and you have voted for him because you find his views to be the best to fix the mess that is our county today.     Hmm. He's arguing for the poor, to ensure they have services to take care of them. He's arguing against violence. Oddly Christlike!
    He's arguing that it's strange the media's focusing on a black pastor of a presidential candidate when the current president is sending men to their deaths and ordering the deaths of thousands of Iraqis. Seems strange to me.
    Seems stranger that we're talking about someone's pastor when China's killing Tibetans left and right, oppressing their general public and it's not in the news much, not to mention they're the US's favored nation trading partner. So much for a left-leaning media.

    I'm not even slightly surprised that the mainstream media continues to fail at fact checking.
    One interesting and likely overlooked fact contained in your article--good one, by the way--is that the original NewsMax article by Jim Davis was posted on August 7, 2007--well before anyone in Hillary Clinton's camp might have seen Obama as a major threat. This should end the rumor that many Republicans like to repeat that this particular smear came from the Clinton campaign--and should cast doubt about others.

Now we are finding out that, not only was Obama in Miami on that date, but that newsmax is now saying the Journo can't even remember what date it actually occured? Freelance journalist Jim Davis wrote then that he attended a July 22, 2007 service at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, that Obama was there too, and that during the sermon Wright blamed the:
        "White arrogance" of America's Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country as the "United States of White America."         WRONG. All you know about Wright are the snippets you read on these forums. You do not know of the community programs he spear-headed to fight poverty and help the disadvantaged in his community. If we are to judge people more for their actions than for their words, then it comes as no surprise that Obama, who was equally committed to fighting poverty and discrimination as a community organizer and lawyer, was drawn to Wright. They shared the same goals of fighting poverty, but THAT DOESN'T MEAN OBAMA ESPOUSES EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT WRIGHT UTTERS.

        The truth is that all you know from Wright is what you've read online, as if Wright's entire life's work could be encapsulated by a few soundbytes. You completely ignore his faithful service in the military. You completely ignore his collaboration with Obama, who as a community organizer and later as a lawyer, fought poverty and represented the disadvantaged. You PRETEND like you know Wright, but the TRUTH is that you know very little about him.
        And the quickness with which you judge Wright (and by extension Obama) for his imperfections, while ignoring all of the good acts he has done through his ministry is naive and downright ignorant.

  Does anyone remember Dan Rather's downfall? Wasn't his report based on an obviously forged document? And didn't all the Bush-bashers say it was irrelevant that the document was forged, the story was still true? It seems to me a forged document is much more serious than someone getting a date wrong.
  Besides, totally discarding the article, it's hard to believe Obama attended that church for 20 years, married by this pastor who also baptized his children, and still had no clue what his racist attitudes were.

        LOL...I don't think so. Well, let me say it this way, instead. It is quite possible that NewsMax is going to end up with egg on its face because they can't back up their report. But, now Obama has put himself in the position that he's going to have to defend when he was versus when he wasn't at TUCC.
