WASHINGTON (CNN) â;; The CEO of a company whose employee is accused of improperly accessing the passport files of presidential candidates is a consultant to the Obama campaign, a source familiar with the firm said Saturday.

John Brennan, president of The Analysis Corporation (TAC), advises the Illinois Democrat on foreign policy and intelligence issues, the source said.

Brennan briefed the media on behalf of the campaign earlier this month. The executive is a former senior CIA official and former interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center. He contributed $2,300 to the Obama campaign in January.

Oh my God that is so terrible

that the following pales in comparison:

In an upcoming book, Heraldo Muñoz, Chile's ambassador to the United Nations, writes the efforts by the Bush administration to cajole other countries into supporting the invasion of Iraq "generated lasting 'bitterness' and 'deep mistrust' in Washington's relations with allies in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere." Muñoz describes how the "rough-and-tumble diplomatic strategy" employed by the Bush administration to pressure allies for support included threats and punishment:

In the months leading up to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration threatened trade reprisals against friendly countries who withheld their support, spied on its allies, and pressed for the recall of U.N. envoys that resisted U.S. pressure to endorse the war, according to an upcoming book by a top Chilean diplomat. "In the aftermath of the invasion, allies loyal to the United States were rejected, mocked and even punished" for their refusal to back a U.N. resolution authorizing military action against Saddam Hussein's government, MuÃ;;Ã;±oz wrote.

Yea the Bushies have decency, dignity, honor and integrity far, far, far above and beyond what the liberal democrats display. Pigs fly and George W. Bush never lied, doesn't now and never will. LMAO

crap I know this all old stuff, sadly old stuff, but the idea of them following us here...

'fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here'

companion piece sound byte:

'if we leave they'll follow us home'

...the first one makes it sound like we got'em corralled over there and they can't leave, when they weren't there in the first place and can just leave the way they came after 2003

....the second one sounds like 'they' don't have a map and need an escort or a travel guide or a chaperon

------

No one has ever accused me of being the shiniest penny in the fountain, but a whole nation fell for this amateurish drek ?

good lord gravy

old stuff I know. I first posted it in 2005 I think [nother handle]

FTA The other two contractors, who worked for Stanley Inc., were fired. Stanley has had contracts with the department since 1992, and was recently awarded a $570 million contract to continue providing support for passport processing. Its CEO, Philip Nolan, contributed $1,000 to the Clinton campaign.

avatar
Reply

"Stanley officials confirmed Friday that two of its employees had unauthorized access to Obama passport files."

It just gets "curiouser and curiouser"

avatar
Reply

nost - have to wonder if anything was changed?

avatar
Reply

Unless the contractors specifically had the clearance to 'update' the files, they couldn't make any changes. Employees may have 'read only' access to files and cannot make changes to the file. If they were 'caught' accessing the files surreptitiously, then they in all probability did not have 'update' clearance. If they did, they wouldn't have been flagged.

I really doubt it's anything more than a bizarre coincidence

In the original thread to this story, I had quoted the Washington Post about the owners making contributions to Clinton(Nolan) and Obama(Brennan). In addition, Mr Nolan also made contributions to Republicans as quoted in the Post: 'Stanley's chairman, Philip Nolan of McLean, contributed $1,000 to Clinton's campaign on Feb. 20, federal election records show. He has also contributed to moderate Republicans.'

That is the first thought I had, Klarissa. Good Article. It made sense to change the subject from Obama's Black Nationalist Pastor. I cannot see the DNC being stupid enough to field their weakest candidate in November, but they don't have a lot of options.

Yes, Klarissa I think hinted that it might be someone associated with the democrats when the first story broke about someone accessing the passports of Obama. Then it next thing we know they accessed Hillary and McCain's as well. If I remember correctly she was chastised quite severely suggesting a democrat would do such a thing? Now with this new revelation I say kudos to Klarissa, looks like you were correct!!!

avatar

looks like politics is stepping up to the plate. McCain in first Hillary on second and Obama on third. makes you wonder? Home run or who gets counted out. I wouldn't put it past Obama to throw this out there and hope that it will boost his sagging hope and dreams. I don't believe that people are going to forget this last scandal of down right racism yes!, racism.

avatar
Reply

I sort of agree ranch but the scandal of Wright wasn't listened to by many because they didn't want to here it.People have there minds made up regardless.

But this is one Independant open minded American who has seen more than the clips and will not forget a preacher using those words and saying that and others in a house of God and lots of folks not seeing this as offensive.

And in this sense I'm conservative. I didn't even like propeller even printing those words. That was a bad word and got us a mouthful of soap regardless of religion.

I disagree There is a lot of good people that don't approve of this behavior. black or white it don't matter. I know of one Black guy in particular ,and that is a christian man, And he told me that he is disappointed in Obama that he had such big hopes to him. But he now will no longer support a man that affirms this behavior.

Good point ranch but I said "by many", not all.:)Many people were offended.

ranchhand:

I don't support anyone who dam*s America.

It doesn't matter what political persuaion or ethnic background they are.

If you don't love this country then move to where you do love.

As I have said in other posts racism and hatred is wrong no matter who it is aimed at.

One doesn't end racism by choosing to support it. If one picks a side of racism and endorses it. One has continued the hatred. True change comes thru not accepting racism at all.

At least that's what I believe and that is part of what I fought for.

avatar
Reply

''I don't support anyone who dam*s America.''

the only one that can damn America is America herself.

I am not a fan of preachers of any kind and certainly not Wright, but why has no one looked at Wright's record? Why does no one care about that?

Words are one thing, but what has the man done that is racist?

----

Has he ever called for an execution like Pat Robertson?

Does he steal people's money like Jim Baker?

Or does he have a solid record of public service and good deeds?

I don't know

and you know what, no one in the media is gonna tell me anything bout his record

you know what that means?

It means I'll bet you a nickel Wright's record of public service is probably pretty impressive--but why f*** up a good news story?

DO I like Wright or his speeches? Not anymore than I like any preachers. Just entertainers and motivators.

avatar
Reply

Is the man racist?

Can we say that from a few sound bytes?

does he hate America?

Hasn't God already 'damned' [condemned] America's actions in Iraq with death and division and despair and other bad 'D' words?

what Wright may need to do is what Obama has hinted at: he may need to move on and let those old dogs sleep and deal with the race issue in a more current fashion

anyway not meant as admonishment to anyone, just a personal opinion that labeling someone when you don't know them or their past deeds 'racist' may be a tad hasty

I'll call him crazy tho, but a lot of good people are

Oh golly - I thought it was the pastor who said those terrible things... Am I to believe my own eyes and ears or should I be persuaded by what Fox and its tribe of dittoheads want me to believe? Even Fox's own Chris Wallace had difficulty swallowing all that poison. Also, it would be nice to see a non-token non-white participating in their Hyena's Den spin cycle from time to time - but that would be asking too much from a network dedicated to keeping Americans of all races, creeds and colors deaf, dumb, bind and stupid.

Now this passport deal - that has all the makings of a right wing conspiracist spitball, doesn't it klarrissa? And here I thought it was only left wing moonbats that stooped to that level of presumption... How dissappointing... but why am i not surpirized?

avatar
Reply

Yes, the pastor said those things and Obama also said he would remain friends with that person.I do not care what Fox said.

avatar
Reply

If you don't care, you should. Fox is responsible for amplifying public misperception on this and a host of other weak issues and non issues while the more pressing and urgent go begging. As for Obama's choice to remain friends with Wright, I admire that decision - just as I understand why certain common issues regarding race and inequality bind many black pastors, social activists and politicians together in a rainbow coalition - as Rodrigues stated in his endorsement speech. One might take exception to the semantics involved in Wright's choice of words, but the focal issues remain a cancer eating away at the American psyche that will not heal unless they are bought out into the open and something is done to correct prevailing perceptual imbalances. We cannot look to Fox or MSM for any assistance in helping define those issues or their messengers equitably. Those who do are abandoning political responsibility and making social progress more difficult than it already is.

avatar
Reply

I should have clarified my comment about not caring about what Fox says in the sense that I do not use any one source for my information like many in this country do. I TRY to understand. But if you read my profile you will see I am very sensitive to racism, hatred and bigotry of any sort and take no chances.

I don't know if you're referring to me ADAGUY but respectfully I have friends of all sorts of different political, religous and ethnic backgrounds but like I said amd very sensitive about what I said above and draw strict standards and have lost so called "friends" because of my views on the above. If my standards on this are too strict for some, well what can I say.

avatar
Reply

Do you have any close friends whose views strongly differ from your political views?

Probably should stop speaking to them!

avatar
Reply

Obama never said he would remain friends with the pastor. I cant remember seeing that in his speach. You cn say you don't care what fox says but we both know that's a lie!

avatar
Reply

I civilly clarified what I meant by not caring what fox said. One speech is not many sources of facts. He did say before the speech as far as I can tell from different sources, articles posted here being one that in fact he did say he would remain friends with reverand Wright.

dog - it was the calling for a congressional investigation that was overboard.

avatar

Not if there was as serious a breach of private and public security as Condi has already admitted and apologized for... Credibility of an entire government agency has been compromised and given fundamental breaches of trust, its right to process an accurate internal investigation is thoroughly and legitimately questionable.

However, since McCain and Hillery don't seem to have caught on to the issue as quickly as the Obama camp, given the timing, it's easy to presume that Obama stood most to gain from the overall distraction. And yet, that is a very pregnant presumption - and one that cuts several different ways if you chose to look at it in its full potential.

Otherwise - I see it as part of the continuing sideshow that displaces public interest in more important questions. No matter who screams the loudest, issues like this one are a pitiable substitute for proportionate focus on proportionately larger ones.

Dog - That would be a wrong presumption. The first report of this story was that Obama's and only Obamas information were compromised. The addition of Clinton and McCain only came later, leaving anyone with a brain to thing the original omission and the sudden admission of Clinton and McCain is a cover to hide the fact that only Obama's information were compromised! This compromise happened in January we are now in March if all 3 were compromised would they have told us that at first! Why single out Obama? Think people this is why you have a brain!

Yes, Blackace, the thought came to mind about the sequence and number of breeches as well as the "one size fits all" announcement from Condi. I think it is a significant sign of State Dept. spin and "mushroom cloud" Condi is in charge - sort of...

dog I watched this speech myself on TV. Obama admitted he was present when this was being said. I'm sure if he would have known he would have asked for a cameo. And I don't need a news channel to make up my mind. I watch all of them, watch body language. As for the passport deal, It will have to wait until I get back. I'm having surgery done on my left eye. Maybe then I will be more agreeable with you then. LOl
