But few debates on public policy ever reach this level of purposefulness. And in America, talking trade in an election year is no exception. Recent manoeuvres show how politicians are reluctant to talk about trade on its own merits.

Sure they won't talk about it. I wouldn't talk about it either. This is the first time the candidates are really faced with a mess. Mortgages are tanking, credit is really tight, fuel is really rising and food is also rising because of fuel costs. And the labor market doesn't look very good either. Candidates have never faced with all these economic conditions before except in 1929. We are seeing something that is going to change our society forever. There are food riots starting to happen in other countries...how long is it going to take before this happens here. Because it really doesn't matter what a candidate says...it only matters what they do. Carter and Clinton started the sub-primnes crisis we are now in, Reagan messed the economy up further with his voodoo economis. Bush wasted what funds we had chasing OBL in the wrong country. I think a better question that should be asked...how do you REALLY feel inheriting the economic mess we are in...if you win in November
