        However you're right that the extreme fundi's like Hagee are pretty out there. But they have a way to go to match the golden combination of racism and anti-American hate that Obama's 20 year mentor and spiritual adviser spews.

        If McCain actually attended their church and gave them tens of thousands annually in donations, I'd be pretty disturbed.

              On his campaign bus recently, Sen. John McCain told reporters, "I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live." Although McCain said he was referring only to his prison guards, there are many reasons why his use of the word "gook" is offensive and alarming.

              It is offensive because by using a racial epithet that has historically been used to demean all Asians to describe his captors, McCain failed to make a distinction between his torturers and an entire racial group.

              It is alarming because a major candidate for president publicly used a racial epithet, refused to apologize for doing so and remains a legitimate contender.

          The picture you are trying to create is one where Wright constantly preached "Kill Whitey!" and "Down with America!" in each and every sermon for 20 years. I've seen a couple of church bulletins and the same few 10-second sound bites run over and over again.

          Heck, why not get some interviews with other members of the congregation? If this sort of bile was indeed a constant theme of Wright's, there should be plenty of people who will corroborate that. Oh, wait, that would mean the drive-by media would have to break their taboo against investigative journalism. Sorry, my bad.

    There's not much anyone can say to convince you people that this is FAR from the most important thing you should consider when electing a president.

    If you don't like what Obama would do if elected, fine. But for people who complain about thought crimes and political correctness--as most of you who are gloating on this thread do--to take issue with the words of a man who's not running for president, and the words Obama has disavowed, is ridiculous.

        Even if he did speak for Obama, it'd be hard for me to wrap my mind around the logic that makes people believe that this one issue is more important than the tanking economy, the war, the desecration of civil liberties, and the like. That's why what Mark Brown says in those columns rings so true.

      A multitude of people's support doesn't necessarily make a decision correct. Christ said that many would follow the way to destruction, but few would find the way to eternal life. Why? Because they think that they are smarter than God & believe that they can get away with their sins.

      Wright's preaching has consistently been Black Liberation Theology, but he doesn't speak for all blacks & certainly doesn't speak for genuine Christian truth. -Rev. S

          Yes, Christ paid for "for the sins of all mankind." However, that doesn't automatically accrue to the account of every person. It is a gift of God, which He desires all to receive. Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me [as their Savior from sin] hath everlasting life." John 6:47.

          There is no such direction that "Everybody irrespective of race, cast or religion will get eternal life."

          In 1John 5:12 we find: "He that hath the Son hath life (eternal); and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." Jesus told Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, "Ye must be born again." John 3:7. He explained to him that this was a spiritual birth. Jesus indicated that He would die on the Cross, "that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish (in Hell), but have eternal life." v.15, see v.16.

          Jesus is the only way to heaven. John 14:6. -Rev. S

        Obama didn't denounce Wright. Obama denounced certain comments and opinions, pointing out, BTW, that these sorts of statements were not at all common in Wright's sermons.

        Oprah was a member of Wright's congregation for 20 years as well. I'd like to hear what she has to say about the content of the vast majority of his sermons.

        She left, BTW, to follow new-ager Eckhart Tolle, not because of some sort of disgust in Wright (though that is frequently suggested by the anti-Obama crowd).

  Hillary will keep the Rev Wright story on front page for the rest of the primary season. She is making a statement about it on O"Reilly tonight. This is not going away. Michele Obama was no Chris Matthews tonight, and refused to agree with Barak about the Rev Wright. She is obviously still is in his corner no matter what Brak is saying. Plus, the Reverend is retired. He can go anywhere anytime to make speeches, or be interviewed, and I think he is angry about this young man, he mentored, brought him to where he is today, and then throws him under the bus. No. Oh no.

            They'd be the voters who think a candidate's personal relationship with "a racist loon"--even though the candidate didn't believe the "loon's" statements--is a more important factor in being able to do the president's job than say, a candidate knowing the difference between Iranian Shiites and al-Qaeda Sunnis.

            Even though that candidate would actually have control over staying and trying to fight the Sunnis (I mean the Shiites, I mean, uh, Sen. Lieberman, help me out here!) for the next 100 years.

He invited Mr. Wright to deliver the invocation at the event in Springfield, but the evening before the event, Mr. Wright answered his cellphone and heard an apologetic soon-to-be candidate. Rolling Stone had just published a profile of Mr. Obama that included some colorful snippets from the pastor's sermons.

            " 'You can get kind of rough in the sermons,' " Mr. Wright said Mr. Obama told him. " 'Rather than have you out front, we thought it would be best to not have you do the invocation.' "

            Mr. Obama asked whether the Rev. Otis Moss III, could speak instead. Mr. Wright agreed, even offering to call the younger preacher.

  It is a great shame to be an Obama supporter today. Which Obama do you support? The one who said he never heard Wright's sermons in 20 years? Or the Obama who defended Wright? Or the Obama who threw Wright under the bus, next to his grandmother? Either way, to support Obama is to go against your beliefs, regardless of your beliefs. Obama has "changed" direction several times. Yes, he is the "agent of change". Too bad it's his core beliefs he keeps changing as the wind blows...

        I don't see how Obama can save his chances for the White House now no matter HOW he tries to rid himself of Wright, who, seems to become more and more stupid the more you find out about him. Seems to me, the ONLY way Obama MIGHT have a chance, is to throw his CHURCH "under the bus". He's going to have to act shocked and that it never dawned on him of just how stupid not only Wright was, but, his whole congregation AND himself, for actually LISTENING to Wright.           HRH OBama is in real trouble here because the Right Rev Wright has no reason to stop 'talking' now that he has been 'cast out' from Camp OBama. It would seem that Rev Wright is 'bitter' and "clinging to his religion" as solace and comfort after his 'loss'.

            Why? He didn't say any of those things Wright supposedly said and he denounced them soon afterward. He didn't and doesn't have anything to apologize for.

              It doesn't matter that he said them or not. The fact that he sat through Wright's sermons for 20 years without bolting out the door is what is hurting Obama, making it so whatever Obama says about it, it still comes off sounding like al-taqqiya.

                But that's the whole point, isn't it? For the anti-Obama crowd, it doesn't matter what Obama does or doesn't do (I don't think it ever really did matter anyway). In order to satisfy these people, Obama would have to go back in time. But then, he'd STILL be a Liberal, and they STILL wouldn't vote for him.

                People need to see this for what it is: When you can't support your OWN candidate, you tear down the opposition.

  What I love is that the Wright story was not getting any real traction until Obama's bitter statement. At that point people started thinking that maybe the pastor and church were a problem. PA dropped 20 points and a big ad campaign brought it back to 10 points. Indiana and NC are sliding toward Clinton.

  This is going to be a down and dirty fight.

  Anderson Cooper lambasted Davis for daring to repeat Wright's comments. Time's Joe Klein chimed in, "You're spreading the poison right now." AMAZING! These boneheads don't care that WRIGHT is still spreading the hatred! For pete's sake he is the origin of those words, the writer of the sermons. Hey Anderson Cooper and Joe Klein Davis isn't the problem. Why don't you tell Jeremiah Wright he is "spreading the poison." Wright is to blame. WRIGHT IS CLEARLY WRONG. But since he is black few will challenge him for fear of being called a racist. All you have to do is challenge or disagree with him and your a racist and a bigot. Obama has shown poor judgement in staying in a church for 20 years where his children were exposed to such disturbing hatred during their formative years. The Obama's should have left the church. Perhaps political ambitions had priority. No doubt Wright's friendship has help Obama climb the Chicago Machine's political ladder.

  Ed Schultz was on MSNBC, and he thinks Obama might have to get down, and dirty to win Indiana. Like he hasn't been negative before now. He is just a Sweety. Reality check. Barak Obama is a corrupt Chicago machine politician. They don't come in "clean"
