FTA:
Joe Andrew, who was Democratic National Committee chairman from 1999-2001, planned a news conference Thursday in his hometown of Indianapolis to urge other Hoosiers to support Obama in Tuesday's primary, perhaps the most important contest left in the White House race. He also has written a lengthy letter explaining his decision that he plans to send to other superdelegates.
"I am convinced that the primary process has devolved to the point that it's now bad for the Democratic Party," Andrew said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.
I am sure this will speak volumes to the uncommitted superdelegates, also FTA:
Andrew said in his letter that he is switching his support because "a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue this process, and a vote to continue this process is a vote that assists (Republican) John McCain."
I have said all along she was more conservative than McCain was. Now i am more convinced of it.

Andrew said the Obama campaign never asked him to switch his support, but he decided to do so after watching Obama's handling of two issues in recent days. He said Obama took the principled stand in opposing a summer gas tax holiday that both Clinton and McCain supported, even though it would have been easier politically to back it. And he said he was impressed with Obama's handling of the controversy surrounding his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Wright's outspoken criticisms of the United States have threatened Obama's candidacy. Obama initially refused to denounce his former pastor, but he did so this week after Wright suggested that Obama secretly agrees with him.
"He has shown such mettle under fire," Andrew said in the interview. "The Jeremiah Wright controversy just reconfirmed for me, just as the gas tax controversy confirmed for me, that he is the right candidate for our party."

According to CNN's count, Obama picked up 5 superdelegates yesterday compared to Clinton's 4. This morning she has picked up a super from Connecticut and Obama has plucked/removed Mr. Andrew from Clinton's column.
Thus so far today its Obama by 1
Needless to say at this pace Clinton will only continue to lose ground.

here's a site with a day-to-day breakdown of the superdelegates:

since the PA primary...
Obama has picked up 13 superdelegates
Hillary has picked up 10 superdelegates (gained 11 and lost 1)

Despite the encourging news of more defectors jumping ship, this is the dirtiest nomination process that I have ever witnessed. The Clintons and the media have been disgracefully deceitful and ruthless in their attacks on Obama's past relationships. The double standards are just one big excuse to avoid appearing racist; but the message is loud and clear to those of us who are educated and not in denial about it.

It looks like it is fear of Obama which has translated to vitriol for the likes of Rev Wright and Profesor Ayers. Hey, they are not running! They have a right to deflect the smears against them. If you want to get to Obama, concentrate on him... you can call him bad words, like (oh my gosh my golly, is he really a) SOCIALIST!
Personally, I wish he WERE a socialist... but his solutions, like his health care solution, are firmly in support of existing free-enterprise entities (like insurance companies). He has proposed little to cause conservatives the fear and loathing they are demonstrating on these boards and in the mainstream media. (P.S. The RIGHT wing in Europe are closer to our Democrats and are socialist).

I agree, the cons with their "the sky is falling" demonstrations toward Obama is so unfounded, based on his pastor.
AND, cosmogenium just submitted an article about Clinton's pastor, who was just sentenced to 3 years in prison for inappropriately touching a 7 year old girl, then there's Hagee's rant about God damning New Orleans for their sinful ways!! Why is this even getting the attention it's getting, and none of the others are getting any? JUST CRAZY SH!T.

Obama was never vetted most of last year.
The press failed to do their job
When the Clinton campaign realized that the press was not going to look into Obama's background, her campiagn employed the "kitchen sink" strategy
Hillary Clinton's 'kitchen-sink' campaign pays off
Somewhere, LBJ was smiling.
Lyndon Johnson was famous for saying, according to his biographer Robert Caro, that if a candidate was willing to do everything, truly everything needed to win, he probably would.
Johnson doubtless did not have a woman candidate in mind, but Hillary Clinton clearly followed the spirit of his guidance.
With no margin for mistake, she had to do what she had been unable to do previously: make Barack Obama mortal.

This is an excellent analysis of her strategy

Again, it is about what Sen Obama stands for, his character, his credibility, yes, the company he keeps. The Democrats are desperate to keep this Primary season short, but how do you change the rules in the middle of the stream? Their Convention isn"t until late August, do they think America will have questions if they cut the Primary season off in June? Won't America wonder if they cannot run their Primary season how can they compete for the office of the Presidency? I think this hurry to kick Hillary to the curb makes them look incompetent.

Let me first say that I can't stand the Clintons
BUT Hillary can beat McCain and Obama can't. In the general election if she can position herself to the right of McCain on issues like NAFTA, immigration etc, she'll take battleground states - Ohio, Florida and PA. The blue collar households will vote for her
"The majority of Democrats have rejected her"
April 23, 2008:
Both campaigns claim they are ahead in the popular vote.
Including Michigan and Florida, Clinton has 15.1 million to Obama's 15 million, lead of about one-half of a percentage point for Clinton. Without MI and FL, Obama has 14.4 million to Clinton's 13.9 million, a lead of about 1.7% for Obama. Neither total includes the primary vote total from Washington state, since it doesn't count toward the nomination and the party awards delegates based on its caucus.

A lead of 1.7% is hardly overwhelming

I agree BUT it doesn't look like the voters in the remaining primary states do
You don't think Clinton would take this position unless it polled well, do you??
Obama's position simply reinforces the "elitist" label he was tagged with after the SF comments. In the voters minds he doesn't understand the financial trouble they are having
This is Clinton capitalizing on that little fiasco

Hillary is a Rovian politician...a neolibbot (neo-liberal-Rovebot)...as far as I am concerned, she signed her fate when her campaign called Obama a "Judas"...she is owed NOTHING; if she wants support from Liberals and Progressives; she must EARN it...and so far, she's earned damned little!!!

Shadow,
If I may make a correction here:
Her campaign called Bill Richardson a Judas, and not Barack.
***********
n2n, thanks for a very timely and provocative post!
I have several observations to make:
1. Hillary has no ethics, no morals and absolutely no regard for human decency. She has proven time and again that she can lie through her teeth and would care less if someone called her on it.
2. She is like a sinister composite of Richard Nixon, Barry Goldwater, Karl Rove and Bill Clinton, without their "equipment"! She can pack a mean punch, and can certainly hit below the belt.
She can kick others in the groin, but she probably wears a prosthesis to protect hers, although there is nothing "there" to protect.
3. When she grabbed Bill's "assets" during the Lewinsky scandal, she probably wrenched out a promise from him that he will make her a President. That is probably where the "entitlement" comes from.

Contd..
If women - especially White middle-class women - think that she represents their struggles, they better wake up. With $109,000,000 in her purse, she is not going to be their friend any more than George Bush is going to be their friend!
She is using them to get nominated!
This woman will stop at nothing to get elected!
Does that ring a bell? Around 8 years ago, another person did the same thing! Do we want a replay of that?
Let us bury the nasty dynasties, once and for all!
BTW, it would be interesting to find out when the list of donors to Clinton Library is coming out! That would have a few interesting names there!

As far as Joe Andrew's choosing to support Obama, that has to hurt the Clintons!
More important than his declaration of support to Obama is the reasons why he did it!
It charts a course for other Super Delegates to follow, and the reason and logic for doing it!
It is really heartening to see that there are Democrats to put more value on principles than political expediency!

First of all, please forgive my late comment, Sweet Sister and cool friends. A dear friend had just returned from Paris with goodies galore. She couldn't get the laptop I set-up for her to interface with NetFrog in France. Everything she returned with had to cataloged, priced, and entered into her database.
There are many excellent posts here, I wished I could respond to each thought. Even those negative posts! Obama is doing exactly what I would be doing: Not be lowered in the useless bickering Mr. Clinton has resorted to. Don't get me wrong, the job Clinton did as president I thought was remarkable. Remember cool friends, Clinton had both a Republican House and Senate to bargain with. Frankly, I believe they had helped Clinton greatly balancing our budget, paying-off our national debt, providing needed funds for our infrastructure, education, healthcare, etc.
I've always respected Obama for was his wisdom. When he speaks, I have the feeling he wrote his own words. Peace
