I can only hope that youth vote materializes for Obama like it did for Dean. lol

We do not need children who are indoctrinated daily voting the way their professors tell them to.

I would be 100% in favor of lowering the vote age to 16 then suspending voting between the ages of 19-23.

what an idiotic thing to say..."We do not need children who are indoctrinated daily voting the way their professors tell them to." What are you living in China?

You are worried about this but not voting based on the lies fox told ya! thank god you guys are being phased out!

I'm sure you'd be saying the same thing if all of the kids in the country were going to church and doing what their pastors told them.

Indoctrination has no place in education. And I'm not listening to Fox News...I was just there being indoctrinated 2 years ago. Luckily, I can think for myself.

Now why is it you can resist 'indoctrination', but no-one else can?

Good question Tangent001...and I doubt this person isn't indoctrinated, the first place I heard this argument/fake point made were from the Foxy Idiots! I think for myself too, or do you think it's only you?

"I'm sure you'd be saying the same thing if all of the kids in the country were going to church and doing what their pastors told them. "

Thankfully not all Churches are filled with lying, right-wingers who want to bring about the destruction of the middle east in order to bring about the second coming.

It'd be nice to have people who are informed about issues voting against those who are simply stuffed with dogma and told how to vote.

Djrevelky, Heard about the Young Republicans? Camps and organizations to make conservatism sound wonderful. Get em young and indoc them hard. Most are ducking Iraq however; they aren't as quick to go in the military.

...or like for McGovern in '68.

Seen recently on a T-shirt worn by a teenager (looked 18 to me, your honor ;-) :

"Voting Is For Old People".

Don't hold your breath, America.

Apparently, so is reading or being gainfully employed.

I had the pleasure of meeting William 'Bill' Kristol a few weeks ago. He commented to me that he's on staff at Harvard because they like for their students to at least know what a conservative looks like...for when they finally get a job.

avatar
Reply

Kristol a conservative? You are kidding me, right. For the record, Neocons are not conservatives.

avatar

The pleasure?

Bill Kristol. Wow.

A man of no honor, no courage, no patriotism, and damn little wit. But a forthright defender of every war he ever dodged, and one of the chief supporters for the last 8 years of everything this country now wants changed.

Did he look sorry? Did he look guilty? Did he keep wiping invisible spots of blood off his hands? Was there any sign of a soul there you could detect?

Just asking.

So you are suggesting that only Conservative work? I wish I had known that I would have fired my staff and hire only conservatives.

avatar

Why would you do that? You'd just have to clean up all the blood and put down carpet to hide everything they've been up to. Then you'd have to periodically wipe the email system to make sure you couldn't get caught on all the laws they were breaking.

Sounds like the Clinton White House.

I would put that right up there with meeting with Vlad the Impaler or some other ghoul from past centuries.

On YouTube there is a segment from the Daily Show where Jon Stewart asks Kristol about PNAC. The look on his face is priceless. Not a subject he really wants to get in a deep discussion about. How could a project that was to ensure American dominance for the foreseeable future create the exact opposite effect? All of these men deserve on "F" on this one, despite their Ivy League pedigrees. They are IDIOTS!

Kristol is one of the few truly influential non-elected, non-appointed wonks in Washington. Unfortunately his influence is primarily evil. He should be earning millions just from the Israeli's alone as he is like their de facto cabinet representative from Tel Aviv. No one is further up Cheney's rectum.

As proven neo-conservatives are hardly conservatives. But we will watch conservatives stream to the polls in November to vote for one.

Young voter poised, yeah right, yawn, wake me in November and tell me about it. LMAO

The young voters are going to decide this President.

The SAD part is that ALL of these people (under the age of 25) are going to be educated through GWB "No Child Left Behind".......God help us!

avatar
Reply

Of course...a bad education system. Well, poor education certainly explains why they are voting for Obama. Thank you for clearing that up for me...I never understood it until you pointed out that our kids are stupid lol

avatar

I NEVER said they were voting for Obama (and NEITHER did the article) and ALL the exit polls show the 'well educated' with 'advanced degrees' supporting Obama then ANY other candidate.

What I DID say was that the young voters were going to decide the election (which is also evident by the HUGE numbers participating in the primaries) AND these same young people are less educated (as outlined in NUMEROUS statistics of the FAILURES of 'No Child left Behind') and the fact that LESS students have been able to afford college under the Bush Administration.

avatar
Reply

I never said you did. I just thanked you for bridging the gap for me.

It is a well known fact that the younger and more educated favor Obama...it has became obvious to me that they do so because our education system sucks.

"ALL the exit polls show the 'well educated' with 'advanced degrees' supporting Obama then ANY other candidate. "

This holds generally true. The majority of well educated people who see beyond the dogma to the root problems of every question tend to vote liberal. It's when you can only see one side of a problem and understand the world solely through controlled news sources that you tend to do as you're told and be good sheeple (and vote RepugnantCon).

The youth are smart enough to know if these wars aren't managed the draft is a real option. Those in college know loans and assistance is hard to come by. They also know life after college is going to be interesting with jobs overseas and the value of the dollar somewhere around the Paso. They want change, and are less inclined to want the false promises of the past. They have to be real and know competition is not going to be race, gender or ethnicity limited; the stacked deck is not as stacked globally or will be nationally. We need good leadership, and looks like we might get it; thanks youth.

Love to see the student movement in the 60s back again to fight corrupted governments. But this time as a force to vote out all the corrupted dead wood in the government.

avatar
Reply

Yea,

As a young voter I can say our generation is very very interested in what's going on in politics right now.

You all have Georgie to thank for that. We sat back and watched him tear down this country and now that we have a say in politics, we want it changed...for the better.

The biggest difference between us and the generation of the 60's is we know protests go largely unnoticed. The media doesn't cover them, politicians don't acknowledge them and law enforcement makes sure it doesn't go too far.

So, we vote.

Well, we know what they did on a spring day "warm enough for sunbathing." Next up, what will they do on a gray, chilly November day?
