Politics – Barack Obama began sketching the outlines of his expected presidential contest against Republican John McCain on Saturday, saying the fall election will be more about specific plans and priorities than about questions of political ideology or who is more patriotic.

FTA:

Barely mentioning Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton, Obama said he was open to campaigning with McCain in "town hall" events. But he also warned that controversial issues such as McCain's ties to the Keating Five savings and loan scandal are fair game, and he called McCain's proposal for a temporary halt in the federal gasoline tax a pander and a gimmick.

Go Obama!

I want the American people to win n2n.:)Seriously, Obama strategy of moving beyond Hillary and mentioning specifics as a goal is good thinking.

Plus McCains baggage is fair game.

Also good thinking on your part rdy, saying you want the American people to win. Lord knows we need a win after what we have been through.

Whether Obama wins(which i think he will now)or Hillary,i think we as a nation would be hard pressed to put together a group as bad as bush and cheneys war mongering oil cartel. It is time that the American people win,not big business or special interest.

avatar

well then you better hope McCain wins if you want things to get better cause Barry binladen will run wild getting his terrorist buddies into high ranking positions. and making the his churches idea of the black way of life the norm, so i really hope obama doesnt win because if he does, we will have a racist president.

Do you realize how neurotic and paranoid that statement was?

I don't think they have any idea n2n.I will take a chance with Obama before i would subject my country to another term of republican mismanagement.

avatar

It's not about the country for most of them baddad, it's about winning! They can't stand to lose, winning and keeping the WH is the most important thing, they will defend a repubs right to destroy the country, and curse a democrat for saving it.

avatar

I often think it's just really hard for some of them to admit they have crude reasoning and logic and extremely poor judgement. What's left to say about your decision making skills after you've voted for Bush twice? Who could be THAT mind-bogglingly stupid to vote for him TWICE? To actually think that anyone could recover from the disgraceful incompetence and destruction demonstrated by Bush during his first four years in office?

That's why we will still see people who know in their hearts that Bush is a cosmic failure as a leader continue to offer their opinions as to who is qualified or not qualified to run this country. I have a sister who is stubborn and hard-headed in much the way many cons are. If I thought I was responsible for electing Bush, I think I'd be tempted to leave the country, not disappear into an alternate reality the way many cons are. But I can imagine why they would. ;-(

avatar
Reply

Correct!

Then to think the way to undo or fix their mistake by voting for Bush by proclaiming their undying support to McCain is just unfathomable, IMO!

What a patriot you are to label another of your countryman as you did because you still can't get it in your head that you have been screwed but were not kissed by "shrub abduallah ibn abdul aziz al saud"

avatar
avatar
Reply

Like many delusional cons, "Patriot" is still waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive. What cons got instead was merely a President with the personality and IQ of a squash. ;-(

avatar
Reply

Its funny you say his IQ is so low , Because you Democraps accuse him of so many things that he has done and if he was a low IQd as you people think he is then he wouldn't have been able to pull off the things you guys think that he has done . so which is it is he a person of low iq and incompatent or a very wise man to be able to pull off these "crimes" i hear you guys accuse him of

avatar
Reply

What you fail to comprehend is that most of know that Bush is but a manipulated figurehead who is too stupid to realize it!

avatar
Reply

His IQ is tragically low and your post leaves me quite skeptical that yours could be much higher. ;-(

avatar
Reply

Thing is, is that his post is a fence post, and it is smarter than you if you still believe in El-shrub

avatar
Reply

i take it Hanni that the "label" you are refering to is the "Democraps" ???? if so, then anyone who calls a republican a "repuke" or a "repug" needs to shut up about what i call them, you have the right to call my party what you want and i dont get offended. If you get offended to bad and grow up, because i am not labeling i am just calling it as i see it. you demonstrate crap beliefs and spout Crap, so hence the Democrap word.

What I don't get is those who keep saying she would be better in the general election. How does this make any sense to them is beyond me. You are saying that a person who can't win in the primaries is a better candidate in the main election for president.

Wait, the people that are voting now are we going to switch them out and bring in a new set of voters? She won PA and the talking heads are like she got him now. then she got her fanny kicked in NC and in a state with the same make up as PA she won by a hair. Then there is the black voters being the reason why he won. But he won 3 stated that are predominantly white and tied in Texas. Maybe it's just me but none of these argument makes any sense, it is as if the corporate media is trying to prolong this so that the GOPers an advantage. Well if that's the case you can see that the people are not buying it, your time is UP, and with any luck this will be the last we see of you and your ilk.

avatar
Reply

Well black, the thing is that a lot of Hillary supporters have said that if Obama gets the nomination then they will vote for McCain instead. Some people think that Obama supporters are more likely to vote for Hillary in a general election than Hillary supporters are to vote for Obama. Also some people think that Hillary can snatch some votes away from McCain in a general election as well. Thats why some people say Hillary would be better in a general election.

avatar

Well most of those so call "some people" seem to be republicans or Hills campaign people. I don't believe a true DEM would vote for McCain...it might be a ploy by the Hill campaign to force the DNC's hand in letting her win. But they are Republicans that will not vote for McCain why would DEMs even consider voting for the people that brought us this government? No amount of spite would allow people to do that to themselves. I will not Neg you because you make a good point!

avatar
Reply

Probably the majority of those "some people" are the ones Rush coerced into voting for Hillary.

avatar
Reply

I'm totally with you. If you ever listen to C-SPAN call in segments (and even observe certain posters here on propeller) it's easy to determine when someone is a plant, shill, or rabblerouser. People will call the show claiming to be a Democrat and then immediately launch into CNN (Clinton News Network) mode and you know they've been encouraged to call up and blow smoke.

avatar
Reply

lol,How many democrats have you talked to that said that they would switch party's if there candidate doesn't get the nomination ?I know many people that have been involved from last year in the process and none of them would even consider changing party's,and i know rabid Hillary and Obama supporters (i was for Biden)that are sticking with the party regardless.

They keep talking about these people that will switch party's,lol, where and who are they?

We(thge democrats) know that this is a lot more important than Hillary or Obama, and so do their supporters. This is about taking back the country.

avatar
Reply

Idle threats, they have nothing else to use now. They wanted Hillary to get the nomination, it was their best hope, now they can see their party flushing! Swoosh!

avatar
Reply

Frankly, I don't put a lot of stock in such remarks because I know there's lot of "chaos" spreaders out there doing their duty to serve people like Rush. I can't believe that, simply because someone's chosen candidate didn't get the nomination, he or she would vote not only against their own country's best interests but the interests of those they love as well and I really think Democrats are much too sane to sacrifice the good of our country so that they can punish those who didn't vote for their candidate. If that happens, then I'll know I've seen the absolute worst of of egotism and self-centeredness ever. I'd like to think the last 8 years are about as low as we can sink and I pray I'm proven right.

avatar
Reply

I agree, it would have to take the worse kind of person... to know what we all know about the GOPers and switch party to vote one back in, it's really hard for me to rap my brain around that concept. Every election there is someone who is on the losing side and never before have I heard this BS. I think the people they ask on the exit pools are the planted GOPers.

avatar
Reply

My only fear is exit polls showing Obama winning by 8% and McCain wins anyway

avatar
Reply

While he is not the candidate yet. I'm glad to see that he is setting his sights on beating McCain.

The Keating five, along with his acceptance of Bushes torture and war policies should go along with McCains non knowledge of the economic problms we face. Ask him questions about how he intends to strengthen the economy. Helpthe middle class and working man.

McCain will stumble as he has no clue. LOL

avatar
Reply

The only way McCain will be able to compete will be if he can debate by memory, and i don't see that happening, especially in light of the fact that he made the same mistake regarding sunni and shiites over and over!

avatar
Reply

Well he can't compete with Obamas style. I'd be watching for an ear bud. So his handlers can feed him the words they want him to say.LOL

Nothing would surprise me cowboy, that's a possibility that cannot be overlooked.

I still wanna know who's watching the Diebold machines in November.

Good question.

Excellent point. Here i still have the option of electronic or paper.Given a choice always choose paper.WE need to stop any attempt of electronic vote counting.Get diebold out of our elections, period.

avatar
Reply

Obviously, if McCain wins (especially by a small margin) we'll all know that it was fraud -- by the RNC, Diebold and whoever else could get their fingers in there, but if Obama wins (even if just be 200 votes nationwide), it will be because the people have spoken.

avatar
Reply

The difference is that the notion of Bush or McCain winning defied and defy respectively all kinds of laws--natural and otherwise.

avatar

God knows Democrats have had 8 years to do something about the voting machines, and if they haven't fixed them by now all we can do is assume they lied about the machines in the first place. Besides, didn' the Democrats win in 06? How did they overcome the machines then? Of course only 40% of a much smaller electorate voted in 06, and 57% to 63% will vote in November. Plus by November most states will insist on photo voter IDs. It is fun to watch.

avatar
Reply

Dems won in 06 only because repubs were scared to use the same trick twice under the same admin. It's not to say they aren't capable of doing it again.

avatar
Reply

I see that you are making a fool of yourself once again "Sweety!"

The Republicans have controlled the House and Senate for the better part of the past 14 years and even though the Democrats took a slim majority in the House and basically broke even in the Senate in 2006 they do not have the majority necessary to bring such a change about.

This will change with the 2008 elections as the Republicans are going to lose and lose big in both Houses of Congress! That handwriting is already on the wall and plain to see for anyone with even a modicum of intelligence - which, btw, excludes you!

You are right however, it is fun to watch and even more fun to listen to the wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from the neoclowns as the specter of defeat rises in front of them!

avatar
Reply

When it happens, and the country starts to turn around, albeit slowly, they will curse the democrats. That's when you will see the true hatred.

avatar
Reply

Their strategy will be to wait for Obama to make the first moves on policy & change, then attack his ideas with propaganda, & come up subjective ideas of their own that sound pretty but lack substance. If nothing else, CONS are predictable. They're also looking for sound bites as I type this to inundate the airwaves. Soon, the trolls will just parrot the sound bites, and offer no substance or critical thought. I'll be doing a lot of yawning, again.

avatar
Reply

At least you only yawn jordan. Any troll gives me headaches.LOL.

You mean like his refusal to support the New GI BILL by claiming that he is working on one of his own? Sure he is!
