Politics – A true story *and* a bible story about a man who murders his own conscience in order to try to get elected President. Once tortured, he denounces torture only to one day embrace it in a fit of pandering that would make Santa Claus himself vomit with rage. Genesis 4 upgrade, Service Pack 3.14159.6132A
It is just so unbelievable that McCain supports Bush's "policies" on torture.
The irony is astounding - even McCain confessed to stuff he didn't do just so his captors would stop torturing him.
It has been proven, over and over, that torture does NOT result in any accurate information being provided by the 'prisoner'.
Yet he decides to support the very thing that he endured, knowing it doesn't even work.
He really HAS sold his soul just to become President. How can he have a conscience and support something like that?
It is so sad to see, because I used to actually respect him.
Now I only feel sorry for him.
bubba2:
That is one sad man. To allow what happened to him to happen to to others. That is like child molesters who were molested. It is just so wrong.
McCain will always have my respect for what he endured. That does not mean I will turn over my country to him. In fact I'm very concerned about just what is happening in that mind of his.
What is his agenda?
You have got to love this internet site. The name should be changed to "Don't Confuse Me With The Facts!"
Naturally since those that actually believe in this site would not dare watch The O'Reilly Factor for fear of hearing and seeing something other than what they want to see or hear; they did not hear or see McCain again disavow torture as a way to obtain information. Don't keep living in your world of hate Bush, actually make the effort to look at both sides of an issue. It's more fun that way. By the way I'm not a strong proponent of Bush or McCain.
McCain has publicly supported the Bush administration's policy on torture, and McCain voted for the Military Commissions Act.
If McCain stated on Bill O'Reilly's show that he is against torture, then he is a flip-flopper and a hypocrite for standing on BOTH sides of the fence and saying/doing whatever he thinks people want to hear.
OK budda2, what ever you want to beleive is fine with me. It appears McCain is well qualified for pres. then since the "filp-flopping" on issues seems to be OK for all of the possible finalists. It's going to be a blood bath out there when the real lying and "flip-flopping" starts.
The best of luck to all of us!
I have a book written by an American WW2 ace. He got his silly self captured, and went to a pow camp. He sat in a room with his interrogator expecting the worst torture imaginable because he was an ace and a squadron leader. The German asked him the basic stuff and then quit. He asked him why he wasn't being tortured. The German opened up a thick folder and passed it over. In it was everything about this guy's history. It also had his squadron member's names, the airfield, and supply and repair schedule. He then whipped out a blueprint of the secret British jet engine with "ultra top secret" all over it. "What we really want to know is what are these little doors for and what materials are they made out of." he said.
Even the Nazis knew torture didn't work nearly as well as good old fashioned spy work.
If only we could do the same spy thing for the information that would be great. However you need to read some of the other information from other POW's in WWII. Also our spy network was cut off at the knees during the Clinton Administration to be PC. I'm not for torture, but if it can stop another 9/11 I could be swayed a little.
You just don't get it.
Study after study, research on top of research, has proved that torture does NOT work. Period.
9/11 didn't happen because someone wasn't tortured.
Torturing "suspected terrorists" will not stop another 9/11 or any other possible attack on America. People who are tortured will say what the torturers WANT to hear to get them to stop.
And about the Clinton administration - they handed over TONS of intelligence information on Al Qaeda and Bin Laden to Bush and Rice, who did basically nothing with it.
Howtogo:
I'll guarantee you that I could make you confess to killing JFK to make torture stop. Even if you weren't born then.
I don't think you understand the minds ablility to understands the body's pain threshhold being constantly overwhelmed.
Man, pain continuosly is something one gets used to. Pain intermittently and scheduled can mess with your mind and body. Torture doesn't work because you will make up whatever your tortures want to hear to stop the pain.
Tortue is the tool of the sick demented sadist who enjoy's hurting those under their control.
It is te tool of the weak against those they feel are stronger.
I see nothing wrong with waterboarding to get info to save American lives. I actually see nothing wrong with much worse than waterboarding. Whatever it takes is ok with me.
Just leave them with me and a pair of pliers and I'll make them talk.
That's just it - people like automan909 are unable to comprehend such fact because they have drunk so much koolaid over the past 7.5 years that they have no true concept of what is reality.
You can cite report after report, but unless it comes from the lips of their lord and master Bush they will continually refuse to accept it as fact. During WWII there were members of the NAZI party that behaved in the same manner and who committed unspeakable atrocities because they were told that it was perfectly alright to do so and today we see the same sort of mindset among some of the followers of bin Laden who do the same thing.
Thanks DH. McCain bothers me the most of all the presidential canidates. When he first tried to run for president, he quit because the WH told him too. Then went from being against torture of any kind to being all for it. Makes one wonder, what the party has on him and just how involved Cheney & Company will be if (I pray and hope not) he were elected.

Unfortunately there remains a slim and shrinking 27% of the population, who haven't the combined intelligence of a sand flea and are so ethically challenged, that will still vote for this elitist and senile old man!
The 20% part of that 27% are hopeless. I think at any one time, 20% of our population is completely insane, so really there is just 7% that have a chance at evolution. The 7% have been successfully pandered to, or they just like rooting for their team, regardless of the crappy record, or some other reason equally as lame.
I think Nixon even had a 23% approval at his worst moment. But hey, check out Dick Cheney's 8% approval rating, he can't even fool more than half of the insane anymore. The 12% part of the 20% insane group doesn't even go for Cheney, now that's some miserable failure if there ever was one.
"For the people have spoken 7 fold and turned out in record numbers for the Democratic primaries"
OMG ya mean the folks voting in the "Democrat primaries" vote overwhelming for Democrats!
Really how odd?
Uhm how come in nation wide polls McCain is either tied leads or is within the margin of error of the polls?
Ok injest, every time you comment, you intentionally miss the point, or you intentionally ignore the facts outright, so, I will dumb it down for you ONE MORE TIME so you will understand:
The turnout for the Dem primaries is 2 to 1 vs. Republican primaries. In some places it is greater than that, 3 to 1, 4 to 1. That means for every Republican who votes in their primary, there are at least 2 or more Democrats voting in theirs.
What that means is Republicans are converting to Democrats or they are staying home and not voting at all, as recent polls indicated that only 1 in 5 Republicans were happy with the choices in Republican Presidential nominees.
Got it now? Are you going to act like you do not understand that? Please quit with the willful ignorance, it was old before you started it. Willful ignorance is not a virtue, no matter how hard you try, ok?
