Politics – Wearing a flag lapel pin, Sen. Barack Obama emphasized his patriotism and support for a strong and humane military Monday, while Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton implored West Virginians to sustain her hopes of somehow denying him the Democratic presidential nomination.
HAHA! This FTA may shut up some of the people who think Obama is a loser because he can't bowl!
"After the speech, Obama stopped at Schultzie's Billiards hall, where he showed greater skill at pool than he had at bowling last month in Pennsylvania.
As a small crowd oohed and ahhed at his third consecutive good shot, Obama said his skill was "the sign of a misspent youth. I wasn't doing wholesome things like bowling."
I love pool! And I categorically deny it's because I misspent my youth, LOL! Stupid bowling just hurt my fingers, and I couldn't keep track of my ally.
I wasn't allowed to go bowling when i was a kid. I think my parents thought it was a bad place for young people to hang out. Then again, i wasn't allowed to go to the pool rooms either, HAHAHA!! I have friends who have pool tables, and i have tried it, but i am no good at it, my son is very good though and so is my husband. I always made sure my son was able to do the things i was never allowed to do, no regrets!

FTA:
Pointing to the Bush administration, he said, "we know that over the last eight years we've already fallen short of meeting this test." He cited once shabby conditions at such facilities as Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and long waits and bureaucratic obstacles facing many who seek care from the Veterans Administration.
"When our troops go into battle, they serve no faction," Obama said. "They serve no party. They represent no race or region. They are simply Americans."
He proposed expanded veterans' benefits for health care, education, housing and psychiatric treatment. He said McCain opposes a Democratic-crafted bill in Congress to expand education benefits "because he thinks it's too generous."
Also FTA:
McCain's campaign said the Arizona senator backs a Republican alternative that is better because it enhances benefits for those who stay longer in the military, thereby encouraging recruitment and retention of troops.
So, this would lead me to believe that unless a Vet spent 20 years in the military, or were paralyzed from the neck down, Vets wouldn't qualify for VA benefits under McCain.
I must say that I was not a huge Obama supporter in the beginning.
But he has continued to impress me in ways that I did not anticipate.
He is RATIONAL where other politicians are crazy to pander.
That is unprecedented and totally refreshing.
Yes it is Goppy. I was for Hillary...in the beginning! She and Bill used such underhanded tactics, it turned me off. Her method of campaigning rang true of the repubs and that did it for me.
Mr Obama is pandering now. He has many lapel pins, and wraps himself in huge flags on the campaign trail. He is an A #1 phony. If he had any love of country, America, he could not have spent 20 years in church listening to his Afrocentric Black Nationalist preacher cursing, and damning America. And if he was partiotic he wouldn't have to spend valuable campaign time assuring Americans of his patriotism.
I agree...he shouldn't spend his valuable time trying to assure certain people in this country of his patriotism...trying to please everyone isn't worth it, and it won't get him anywhere.
He should continue to press ahead with his vision, his dream, and the dream of many others in this country, for a better America, in spite of those who don't understand or support him.
What part of his dream for a better America is the "white man is the devil" that he listened to for over 20 years in his church?
Quite a difference in speaking the words and listening to them. I did say he should be pushing his dream, not Wright's, didn't I?
He's already come out against Rev Wright...what more do you want? If it's a perfect human being, well, sorry. Clinton wasn't perfect, Bush sure as hell isn't.
I'm pushing for the one that comes the closest to making America better in the long. Hopefully, Obama will fill the bill...
Whether he came out against Wright or not, the fact is he spent 20 years participating as a parishoner. That is as inexcusable as it would be if McCain attended Klan meetings for 20 years then spoke out against them. This guy has a far left socialist agenda, and his voting record makes him pretty much an empty suite. Ever hear him speak without a tele-prompter?
So, McCain has spent over 20 years courting the likes of the Rev. Moon and the Rev. Hagee. Taking their money and support is almost as bad as affiliating with the KKK in my opinion. On top of that, McCain is still taking their money, courting their votes and sees nothing wrong with it or them. This guy has no agenda except to be President with no idea of what he is going to do if he gets there. I have heard McCain speak without a tele-prompter, and he can't even remember which religious group or groups have influence in Iraq, let alone what to do about it.
All this doesn't matter anyway. Come November, he'll be forgotten just like Gore, Kerry, and the rest. McCain is going to be the next president.
the only way mccain can win is to rig the election....just like the last 2
richard phillip hayes has a new book out that details the election theft in ohio in 2004 and of course lance dehaven smith proved yrs ago that gore won florida so with neo cons like warmer bragging that they will do it again...we better get a plan folks
call ur congressmen and demand paper ballots!!
The Democrats are self-defeating. They can't unite on a single front except hatred.
its true its harder to unite when so many dif groups r represented by the dems but its way better than having a party that only represents rich white guys
It's the rich white guys that open businesses and give poor guys like you and me jobs.
EGAD!
I'm sorry. Didn't mean to offend you unemployed out there.
Unless you of course you are elected to a local office, commit malfeasance, and embezzle.
Global Warmer seems to have been inhaling his own farts...yep;he has assumed the NeoConArtist Position!!!
You'll wake up November 5 with a new President alright, just not a Republican...LOL...
Okay, guess we'll see.
Yes, we SURE WILL! I hope all you nutjobs will be OK on November 5th, 'cause you are in for a very rude awakening (It'll make your shock over 2006 seem like a day at the beach!).
I gather you're either a government employee or on the welfare rolls.
If that is the case GW, there are a whole lot of us out here. More than enough to get 60% of the votes in the GE this year, and because we know who caused our condition, the outsourcing of our jobs, it won't be a Republican who gets elected even if Atilda the Hun is on the Democratic ticket.
Neither. And you would know that if you'd been paying attention to my posts over the last year or so...
I'm simply a hard working American who is struggling to hang on to his piece of the shrinking middle class. I'm fortunate in that I have the education and skills to have a decent job.
And ya know, your perception of me doesn't really matter to me one iota. The fact that you perceive those of us who are liberal or progressive as welfare recipients or government employees simply underscores your own ignorance.
Just where the hell do you think entitlement programs come from? And I am quite sure that the person that owns the company where you work so hard is wealthy. Instead of trying to tax the crap out of him, maybe you should thank him for the opportunity to work.
And tell me this: Why should the CEO of the company I work for pay a smaller percentage of his income in taxes than I do? And why should any company be given the tax loopholes they have today? This income is not given to employees as raises... though they should, most companies will take this as an opportunity to increase the bottom line for their investors while continuing to pay their employees the bare minimum the market will bear. And through this process the rich continue to get richer while the poor continue to get poorer and the middle class disappears into oblivion.
...and THAT is the major flaw of trickle down economics. I believe that the country performs much better when all boats are lifted. That is the root of Franklin Roosevelt's philosophy and the basis for my politics.
The top ten percent of wage earners pay 90% of the income tax in this country. I would suspect the man you work for pays more tax in a year than you earn in ten.
Actually that's NOT true and it hasn't been true since Reagan was president. And it has never REALLY been true, because the 90% figure didn't kick in until income passed a certain amount. The real marginal rate is higher for the rich, because itemized deductions gradually evaporate as one moves up the income ladder.
This as it should be. But you are so wed to the Reagan-BushII economic philosophy that I don't believe you can possibly see the flaws (of which there are many...), not the least of which is the destruction of the American middle class.
ani, there you go with the Afrocentric statements again. Your racism has gotten very old.
Hey, me too!
I was always in Barack's corner. I am a pretty good judge of character and my instincts immediately moved toward him. I took a test sent to me by an email buddy, to see if I could separate serial killers from computer geeks, and got every one of them right! (Maybe I should be a profiler?) Anyway, I had no quarrel with Hillary becoming the nominee if that happened. However, since she and Bill have proven themselves to be no better, and in some ways, worse, than the repubs in their desperate bid to return to the Oval Office, I am loathe to think of them back in the WH. The ONLY way she will get my vote is if by some turn of events, Obama is eliminated (and I pray not!)
They have been forever tarnished in my eyes. In my gut, I believe Hillary is a closet repugnicon. Certainly her actions and statements of late are more closely aligned with them than with her fellow democrats.
"I took a test sent to me by an email buddy, to see if I could separate serial killers from computer geeks, and got every one of them right!"
Some might argue it takes one to know one.
I'm guessing you're a computer geek tho....
Goppy,
I agree 100% with your assessment of Barack Obama.
And I was a John Edwards supporter who went to Obama after Edwards dropped out of the race...
He's my pick for the VP slot. I think he and Barack would be a dynamic duo!
Edwards for attorney General!
I STILL think that Bill Richardson is the most qualified man to lead the turnaround of this country.
I guess he just didnt have the physical appeal that the voters need to get through the superficial election process.
Still, Obama wants to redirect the ship. It needs to be redirected.
Clinton and McCain both represent more of the same......can we go back to 1996?
I agree and believe that Obama is smart enough to select him for a Cabinet position at the least.
Tess, i think Edwards said he wouldn't accept the VP position for either of the candidates.
He hasn't even endorsed either candidate. I think he's a little bitter over it all, probably with good reason, he wasn't given a chance. Wolf just ignored him in the debates, Edwards had to say "hey i'm here too".
scott:
Edwards was my choice as well. Although I was hoping that Gravel or Kucinich would be there.
I'm hoping for a president that loves this country and what it stands for.
I felt from the outset that Hillary was a divider, with good reason; that it would prevent her from having an effective administration. She and Bill are so hated by so many in an out of power. And she is proving my point these days by stooping pretty low to get that prize.
Hillary is desperate and showing what "white trash" the Clintons are. Let's try and get a word from the late Vince Foster who likely died because he knew too much about them.
Obama gives Americans hope and I pray that he doesn't nominate her for V.P.
rightfromwrong;
Calling people "white trash" only tells us about you, not about them.
"He is RATIONAL where other politicians are crazy to pander."
hahaha Now THAT's funny. Obama changes his message by crowd.
Do you EVER have anything positive to contribute to the conversation? Ever?
He's a repugnicon shill...and not a very good one.
