Close, but not quite. Russia had begun to repel the Nazis in 1943. The repulsion at Stalingrad was not the highlight of the war in Russia. Furthermore, one can definitely not rule out the 1943 invasion of Italy. Our troops fought their way up the boot until they reached Tuscany. Amazing considering the fact that Mussolini had positioned himself as a mighty leader just before the war, and fell before Hitler did.
Yes, it did take a while to liberate Rome, but we were already moving up the boot in 1943. Perhaps we were late to help the Jews, but the Italians did stall to save many of their lives.

That is true about Russia, but Italy, Rome was liberated the day before D-day, Italy was a slow slugging almost a stalemate,

David, the Allies were fighting mostly Germans in Italy, after the invasion.
