By the end of April, McCain and the Republican National Committee had $62 million in the bank-- $10 million more than Obama and the Democratic National Committee.
"Our fundraising is increasing," McCain said in Stockton, where he held his third fundraiser in a 24-hour period last week at the home of developer Alex Spanos, owner of the San Diego Chargers.
"We're unified and that's why we have had the results," said RNC Chairman Mike Duncan.
Since the start of 2007, the Republican National Committee has outraised its Democratic counterpart by two to one, $143 million to $77 million."

If Republicans are so unified, why does McCain continue to lose around 25% of the Republican vote in primaries, even though everyone knows he's the nominee? Shouldn't he be winning these primaries in the 90's not in the 70's?

Primary voters aren't representative of the general voting public, especially those who are casting what are in effect meaningless protest votes. The Repblicans aren't completely unified - which major political party ever is? - but your measure overstates the problem.

Because he has secured the nomination and there is no reason for his supporters to show up other than to cast symbolic votes. Certainly, Republicans are far more unified than Democrats, who do not have a presumptive nominee as of yet - although it does appear Obama will get the Dem nomination. Yet, Obama continues to get crushed in several states.
If you are fool enough to think Republicans will vote against McCain and put Obama in the White House with a Dem majority in both houses of Congress, I have some swampland to sell you.

Democrats don't seem to learn. Every time they put up a very left wing candidate against a conservative Republican with some centrist tendencies they lose. Obama is as far left as you can get. People go to the polls to vote for the lesser of two evils. The right and moderate will go to vote against Obama. People know that staying home is a half vote for the other candidate.

Would this be the same as selling T-Shirts outside the stadium before the game only you are being asked to pay $86,200.00 for it? I sure hope that T-shirt makes you breakfast in bed and kisses you before you get . . . well, you know the 6 letter word. (hehehehehehehe) I wonder how they arrived at that number. ???
Entertaining article AG and I would lovingly say the same about the democrats too! =D

"McCain lags both Democrats in the race for cash. Front-runner Barack Obama seemingly prints money, raising three times more than McCain."
McLame can raise all he can try, but he stands zero chance of catching up to Obama.

Obama and Clinton have raised 5 times as much money as McCain from the actual People of the United States. Also, the Republicans spin their figure to go back to 2007. Obama is raising $1,000,000 per day at the moment.
As the article says:
"McCain doesn't have the kind of low-donor fundraising base that can be self-sustaining."
...If McCain relies too much on the party's money, though, he can expect Democrats to use that to undermine his reputation as a maverick. As California Democratic consultant Garry South put it: He's "dining with fat cats at $86,000 a gulp."

Thanks for sharing the revelation!

Yet they still lose to the Democrats in special elections where previously they'd won by over 25 percentage points. I guess money can't always buy you the election. Just as it won't in the presidential race. Then again McCain might need that money for all his surgeries coming up.

A good story your child will know the difference between a liberal Democrat and a conservative Republican.
Catherine, one of my daughter Shannon's friends when she was little, told me that she wanted to be President one day. Both of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there with us - and I asked Catherine, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?'
Catherine replied, 'I would give houses to all the homeless people.'
'Wow, what a worthy goal you have there, Catherine.' I told her, 'You don't have to wait until you are President to do that, you can come over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and I will pay you $5. Then we can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $5 to use for a new house.'

Come off it. The faith-based sheeple that support GOP borrow and spend it on wars are the epitome of "instant gratification with no willingness to accept responsibility".
Wake Up, America. We're Driving Toward Disaster.
Politics â;; No combination of solar, wind and nuclear power, ethanol, biodiesel, tar sands and used French-fry oil will allow us to power Wal-Mart, Disney World and the interstate highway system -- or even a fraction of these things -- in the future. We have to make other arrangements. So what are intelligent responses to our predicament?

Making a 'Killing' on the 'War on Terror'
Do No Evil â;; For a multitude of politicians, interest groups, professional associations, corporations, media organizations, universities, local and state governments and federal agency officials, the War on Terror is now a major profit center, a funding bonanza. This maelstrom of waste distracts us from more serious problems.

Conservative: Pentagon Pundit Scandal Broke the Law
Politics â;; The Pentagon military analyst program unveiled in last week's exposÃ;;Ã;© by David Barstow in the New York Times was not just unethical but illegal. It violates, for starters, specific restrictions that Congress has been placing in its annual appropriation bills every year since 1951.

Wow, hyperbola,
You've got a real winning argument there!
"The Good Times are OVER"!
It sounds like you are preparing for the
'great human die-off' any day now.
You really believe that we are doomed to return to a pre-industrial society?
You don't think human ingenuity will keep creating ever more productive means to sustain human enterprise?
You think technological development is a dead-end?
You are arguing AGAINST thousands of years of human history, and against basic human nature, itself.
Are you truly a Luddite, as your comments make you appear?

Catherine, who was about 4, thought that over for a second, while her mom looked at me, and Catherine replied, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and clean up the dog poop and you can pay him the $5.'
Welcome to the Republican Party, Catherine
Corny - but gets the point across.

In fact, Catherine, why should we pay him $5 dollars of our own money, when we can borrow that money from our friends in China. Of course that will mean your kids will end up owing China $500 for that $5 dollar loan, but welcome to the Republican Party.

The point of this little story is that people are waking up to the information about Obama's plans to raise taxes.
For example:
# Help Americans Grab a Hold of and Climb the Job Ladder: Obama will invest $1 billion over five years in transitional jobs and career pathway programs that implement proven methods of helping low-income Americans succeed in the workforce.
# Create a Green Jobs Corps: Obama will create a program to directly engage disadvantaged youth in energy efficiency opportunities to strengthen their communities, while also providing them with practical skills in this important high-growth career field.

Klarissa2 months, 3 weeks ago
# Improve Transportation Access to Jobs: As president, Obama will work to ensure that low-income Americans have transportation access to jobs. Obama will double the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program to ensure that additional federal public transportation dollars flow to the highest-need communities and that urban planning initiatives take this aspect of transportation policy into account.
# Reduce Crime Recidivism by Providing Ex-Offender Supports: Obama will work to ensure that ex-offenders have access to job training, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and employment opportunities. Obama will also create a prison-to-work incentive program and reduce barriers to employment.

I am not a member of the Obama Fan Base, but even if John McCain is our next president, revenues must be increased to pay for Bush's War and Bush's debt. Do you have some way of doing that without raising taxes? Maybe you just want to give Beijing the keys to the country when they foreclose for nonpayment of the mortgage.

The funny thing about all this is that Klarissa is "over the moon" about Bush raising taxes to pay off banking and financial corruption with TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars.
Pretty clear that Klarissa only likes taxes for corporate welfare queens.
War Abroad and Poverty at Home
The US Senate has voted $165 billion to fund Bush's wars of aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq through next spring.
As the US is broke and deep in debt, every one of the $165 billion dollars will have to be borrowed. American consumers are also broke and deep in debt. Their zero saving rate means every one of the $165 billion dollars will have to be borrowed from foreigners.
The "world's only superpower" is so broke it can't even finance its own wars....

Did you offer the homeless guy a regular job cleaning up the dog poop and sorting through your trash for recyclables? Or did you have to hire an illegal immigrant to take that on as his night job, because the homeless guy was unreliable?

That sounds like Democrat fear mongering. You do know that most people are either doing well, or doing alright even with this economy. We are not in recession, as Democrats want you to believe, and if you want lower gas prices kick the Dems to the curb in the Nov election, and elect people who will permit Domestic drilling.

What has this to do with anything really ? am confused!
McC represents a party that has support of big business and the rich more than the Dems do, so obviously he should be able to raise more money.
If raising money is a plus to being a POTUS in some way, then why is Ron Paul never heard of, he did set internet records of raising money ?
And other than finding out where the money comes so we know who supports who, what does this have to do on policies the candidates support or are against.
Need a beer to think on this
And ranch; am waiting your typical insult so don't disappoint me EH!
