A remarkable sad read. This is not at all complete, yet even just this collection of malignant criminals is simply staggering. Before nay sayers start nay saying, yes of course there are demented whack jobs in all walks of life, but can you seriously expect a sane person to believe that this is within expected norms? Yeah, Elliot Spitzer hired a prostitute, Barney Frank is a gay man, and Clinton cheated on his wife. But good grief folks! This list of horrors is absolutely indefensible! Don't know what's in the water they make their Kool-aid with, but I sure don't want any!!! I think you'll find it lengthy, but worth the effort. The Chicanery and buggery of the GOP seems to know no bounds.

I'm disappointed in you. You know why this story got sunk. It is not because we feel the actions of the monsters in your piece are acceptable, it is because of the way you presented it.
"Evil Republicans"
"Repug Hypocrisy"
You are attempting to paint an entire party as evil and perverted based on the actions of a relative few freaks. I have seen others try to play this game before, I thought you were better then that. Do you know how many google hits you get when you enter "Republican Sex Scandal"?
1,480,000
Guess how many come up under "Democrat Sex Scandal"?
2,230,000
There are horrible people on both sides, that does not mean everyone with that political affiliation is the same. I could write a list just as long and abhorrent about Democrats. I wonder how many of you would feel offended if I posted that as indicitive of the party? I bet you'd sink it too.

Please publish your list. I have no doubt you can find many other than republicans. There are actually over 3000 sites about Bill Clinton's extramarital affair. But it's all one guy and one hummer, not some sicko raping a 5 year old, or a rabid gay basher having gay orgies.

Really now did anyone expect a balance on a thread clearly labeled it is about "hypocrisy, pedophilia, and malfeasance demonstrated by the GOP in recent years." If it was described as "hypocrisy, pedophilia, and malfeasance demonstrated by politicians in recent years" the point would be valid. We all have seen the balance of offerings from the complainers. It must be a joke of some kind.

"A stunning overview of hypocrisy, pedophilia, and malfeasance demonstrated by the GOP in recent years. A sordid glance into the bizarre world of Republican "values". Not recommended for those with feeble tickers, or Kool-Aid addictions."
Should somehow be about something else?
Is everyone who thinks of themselves as republicans a pedophile? No, there is nothing that makes that claim here.
If you include the links, in the story and the thread, we have thousands of documented arrests, the sheer number alone begs one to question what is going on. Perhaps a certain repressed way of thinking is mentally unhealthy. At any rate there is nothing "fair" about the complainer's articles.
It's no secret that I don't care for the modern republican party. Just as it's no secret Nospin, AG, Dropkickalib, etc.
don't care for anyone but. Forget the pretend outrage. It's a Glass House.

Why would I feel offended by reality? Reality is neither offensive nor unoffensive. Nor is it good or bad nor wrong or right, it is just reality.
Only those who are neither grounded in nor profoundly related to reality would allow themselves to be offended by the truth of reality.

If somebody posted a list of totally corrupt, politically and sexually, Democrats I would do my research to confirm the accuracy of the accusations and then do my own research to see what the other side was like.
If there was a trend of much more abuse in the Dems than in the Reps, I would complain about all but I would certainly dump the Dems like a hot potato.
I do not understand people who defend these Republicans or the Republican Party for promoting and protecting these people to the degree they try.

The google is such a fun toy.
I tried "Republican Sex Scandal" (with the quotation marks so only that exact phrase shows up) and I got 11,900 hits. I did the same with "Democrat Sex Scandal" (again with the quotation marks) and I got 3,260 hits.
Then I tried Republican Sex Scandal and Democrat Sex Scandal without quotation marks and I got numbers very close to yours.
Then I decided to get fancy and checked Republican Sex Scandal (no quotes) but excluding Democrat. I got 885,000 hits. Then I tried Democrat Sex Scandal (no quotes) but excluding Republican and I got 554,000.
So what does that mean? That the Democrats are more bipartisan I suppose, since almost 1.7 million of their sex scandal hits included Republicans, while only 600,000 of the Republican sex scandal hits included Democrats.
I put this down to the recent Republican domination of the Congress. Perhaps things will even out in the years following the next election.

And speaking of domination.
The google tells me that there are 24,700 hits for Republican Sex Scandal domination excluding Democrat. While there are 109,000 hits for Democrat Sex Scandal domination excluding Republican.
The other side of that coin there were 30,600 hits for Republican Sex Scandal submissive excluding Democrat and only 21,300 hits for Democrat Sex Scandal submissive excluding Republican.
Wow, that's weird. Based on the google Democrats are 4 times more dominant than Republicans and less than 70% as submissive. Even stranger kinky Democrats are 5 times more likely to be dominant, whereas kinky submissive Republicans outnumber their dominant colleagues 3 to 2.
Discuss.

And ZG, what has the Republican shills been doing for the last 28 years. Ever since the religious right got in step with the Republican party they have tried to paint liberals with an evil brush. All this story is pointing out is that there is evil in both parties and neither is more moral than the other although this story is not flattering to your party.
The old saying is that if a person is not corrupt before he gets to Washington he will sure be corrupt before he leaves. I would say that applies to state offices also.

Of course of those articles you must weed through many repeats. How many are gross pedophililia and how many thousands are whitewater nothingness? Or some guy cheating on his wife. A very false comparison, as these gross hypocrisies and pedophiles in this article are truly heinous and numerous.
If you read it, you saw that I acknowledged republicans were not alone in malfeasance but that the ferocity and quantity of their crimes and the level of hypocrisy set them in a league in which there is no serious competition. A false comparison as Fox news alone has thousands of sites about Bill's hummer, or whitewater-non issues. But it is people who deny or pretend that these criminals are not a problem and refuse to have it discussed, who insure the continued criminal activity will flourish. Instead of protecting them, why not denounce them. I denounce all predators I don't care if their priests, Republicans, democrats or whigs.
I would certainly denounce

It takes a typical Democrat to point out these atrocities, because i certainly doubt that one of you intend to do the research and post an article about the perverts in the Religious Right/Family Values party, just as you can't expect a Liberal to point out all the failures and shortcomings of our party. However, i did see RFE welcome any of you to do your own research and submit an article pointing out the pervs in the Democratic Party.

This article is not about opinion. Its about documented facts.
For the neocons to scream "NOT FAIR" when they're all willing to grovel in the mud to invent slanted, twisted, bogus stories on a daily basis is the height of hypocrisy.
I personally would not have published this story because I wouldn't know quite how to clean off the slime and dirt of it and for me the idea of seeking resolution by stringing people up or mangling them or letting them be eaten by wild dogs just doesn't wash.
I believe that even the saints amongst us if we search our conscience and memory deeply enough will discover something that either is plain reprehensible - or at the very least that we wouldn't like anyone to know about.
Lynching someone else is the best way to avoid truth - and definitely no pathway to heaven.

That said for the AG crowd to call foul! is absurd and would be funny if this topic had any room for humour in it.
Most of the stories that AG publishes are very deliberately riddled with innuendo, put through a triple-spin cycle, mangled beyond recognition and when challenged on her votes for hardcore hateful comments her "naive" response is:
"Well, my hand moves faster than I read so and sometimes I don't even read a comment. Sometimes I'm only posing part of a comment and not the whole thing. lol, trust me, mine have no rhyme or reason so no one should pay any attention to my negs and poses. I have a million different stupid reasons why I neg and pos and it's never consistent. Except for a few people. Some people I have gone out of my way to NOT neg, that is, until today."
i.e. Don't hold me responsible for anything that I say or do because I may not have meant it. [And that's the most charitable interpretation.]

Sure they are Ziggy, any attempt to say otherwise is a lie. If they were really outraged about such things as they should be or they claimed. Radio would have added a list from the party he's supporting with this thread to show he's not biased about such things.
No sir, he didn't do that did he? He just posted the Reps and joined in the fun of the hateful and had a topic that will allow them to say what they will and paint with a broad brush.
Not one human can or should support this sort of action from a politician, but when you skin one party alive and show little concern of what your own party does (as they did yesterday) then that shows who they are not the Reps on this site. After most reps on this site came inot their thread and denounced what was said on FOX and even sending in a complaint, the Dems once again show their true colors then and now.

I find the denial of most Republicans astounding! That is not to say that I find everyone in their party to be amoral any more than I believe the Democrats to be paragons of virtue (And for the record, I declared myself to be an independent years ago because I find the corruption in BOTH parties to be repulsive...).
But let me be REAL CLEAR here: the party that has been railing against abortion and gay rights while many of its members are paying that agenda lip service and leading a clandestine existence is the GOP. As an out gay man, I find that particularly offensive.
Since I came out in 1984, I have been happier knowing that I can be myself and that I have nothing to hide. I would NEVER even consider sex with an underage boy or solicitation of sex in a public restroom. Why in the world would I? That is what the closeted homophobes do (witness the infamous Senator Larry Craig).
Honesty is healthy. Denial is destructive. And it really is that simple and clear to me.

I really don't think the corruption within the republican party computes with them scott. As far as they are concerned, if a republican does it, it's ok, and getting all the skeletons out of the closet does nothing but anger them, rather than to stand back and take a long hard look at the people they have voted for, trusted and put their faith in. WHY? Because these people told them what they wanted to hear on the campaign trail, they MUST defend thier actions simply because they are brothers/sisters within the republican party.
HOWEVER, they'd better not take their children around one of these pervs.

Who's denying or supporting anything here Scott, you always claim that we deny a topic if we don't agree with your premise or think that the thread has gone too far in its inequity, this thread is just like the 'gotcha' threads put forth by those on the right....
When you don't put a list of your own up to be vied, that in itself is denial is it not? Putting up the smokescreen so your ills won't be seen?
I love the "hypocrite" argument your side always espouses when you post these sorts of thread, I see hypocrisy in your party all the time,,,,, the Greenies that have a carbon foot print the size of Ma.,,,
The groups that claim they are for minorities, except when they belong to the 'wrong' party; the overt racism and sexism in the upper echelons of your party as recently as this week, just name a few. Then you toss in the sexual scandals that you didn't list in this thread. Yeah hypocrisy cuts two way, and makes wounds that cut to the left as well as right.

After all this time, Slate, no one has fielded a link that names these types of fiends from other parties. Someone on the thread found 7 names. (My google search found 10 with thousands of sites, all about the same incidents.) I find it humorous that anyone not fawning all over today's GOP is a Dem, or a Lib. Personally I have been registered as a proud independent for 40 years, I vote issues, I vote for the individual. I changed this to democrat this year to be allowed to vote in their primary. I have worked on behalf of local republican candidates whom I know personally and knew they would do a good job, I have worked for certain democrats as well. I have supported mostly libertarians in the past, but that party is getting polluted with indicted former republicans now.

I have been disillusioned with your GOP since Nixon. That disillusionment has become disdain since the 80s. In the 90s it became abhorrence, (though I actually liked pre 2000 McCain- he was the first to be swiftboated and has reversed every position since, I no longer respect his politics even though I supported him in 2000) Bush turned it into fear and loathing. The modern GOP has the worst fiscal conservative record ever in history, they provide lip service to conservatism, but assault personal and civil liberties, subvert the constitution, and the family values they profess...well the article reveals that it is merely a ploy to get power. I am an independent but an anti-republican generally. A fiscal conservative who also believes in social justice and the rule of law. It ain't "my party". In fact the monopoly of the 2 richest parties is a big part of the problem, I wouldn't object to outlawing them both under an anti trust type of law.

But that stuff is jay walking compared to the thousands of crimes linked here. I don't like Spitzer much. Never did. He proved himself a hypocrite, But he didn't molest children.
What consenting adults decide to do sexually is none of my business, but raping 5 year olds is something I hope we all agree is horrid.
As for Jefferson I didn't research general corruption nor reference it here, but I despise it no matter who is doing it. If he is as guilty as he appears he should be fully prosecuted. Graft's stranglehold on DC is indeed bipartisan, no arguement from me.

RFE did not mention Jim West, former Spokane mayor, RNC head for WA State, and potential candidate for Rep nominee to be Gov.
The guy was a deputy sheriff who along with his partner, would `check out` boys from juvenile hall on weekends. He was also a Boy Scout master.
West was finally caught twelve years after these allegations became public (right-wing bureaucrats/media protected) when the conservative local paper finally had it with him. They caught him using public computer to offer city internships to young men on gay chat sites.
It still took a citizen`s recall initiative to remove him from office because the right-wing establishment protected him, knowing full well he had broken the law many times and every moral/ethical code.
His pedophile partner in these crimes committed suicide rather than face justice and the shame.
Party over people, nation, decency.

No one claims republicans are the only ones doing this, but this article is clearly about that aspect of it. It say's so in the title, and the description. Using the same search parameters I didn't come up with anywhere near the number of incidents of other political party officeholders molesting kids (less than 1 for each 100 referenced here). If it was so, someone more motivated than I would have posted it. And if they do I condemn those cretins as well.

The only "values" the GOP has today are the ones they share with the Nazis. Indeed, the Nazi Party was the GOP's foster child.
Where did the Bush money come from? Smuggling guns to the SA and SS and later using slaves from Auschwitz. Read about a nest of treason called Union Bank Corp, Prescott Bush, managing director and partner (GW's granddad), and "Bert" Walker, partner (GW's great granddad). Course with Bush41 being field commander of the CIA's Phoenix Program in Nam, allowed him to add drug smuggling/trading to the Bush criminal empire which expanded thru Iran-Contra and the BCCI/BNL scandals.
Sure not all Dems are saints but its the GOP that makes criminality their true religion. While a dishonest Dem is a rare event, honest Republican has become a oxymoron. The whole Republican discourse is a collection of blatant lies. From abortion to xenophobia, every GOP argument hinges upon some basic falacy.

Do you REALLY believe this? Do you REALLY believe that Democrats are morally superior? Do you REALLY believe that all who do not follow the Democratic party line are inherently evil????
If you guys would stop spewing your hate and invective for a few minutes and listen to what we are really saying, you would likely find that we agree on more than we disagree and we have many, if not most. of the same goals -- just different ideas of how to get there.
Having said that, the leaders on both side leave much to be desired and our process of selecing them necessarily corrupts all involved. While these are particularly heinous examples, I don't believe they representative of peopel in the party as a whole.
