Posted By nkmar 4 months, 1 week ago in NewsTwo questions stand out as questions each and every Democrat must ask themselves as they head into this election: What other constitutional rights are you willing to forfeit? And what other constitutional rights is the DNC preparing to deny?

During the 2008 primary election cycle the DNC Executive Committee penalized the states of Michigan and Florida for executing their primaries before the committee said it could execute them. Initially, both of these states were to lose their delegates to the convention and have their state's vote totals ignored. As we all know, the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee voted last week to allow the Michigan and Florida delegates to be seated but in doing so devalued their votes to only half that of the other states' delegates.

What was the Rep solution to FL and MI? And do you think it's all been cleared up, even now?

These initial and subsequent decisions by the DNC and the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee have resulted in Hillary Clinton having received a majority of the popular vote and Barack Obama receiving an adjusted majority of the delegates.
Further, without the role of the superdelegates neither of the candidates would have attained an unbeatable number of delegates for the nominating process at the convention, thus creating the need for an open convention, a convention where the candidates would literally have to court each vote from each delegate.
By manipulating the worth of the votes that will be cast by the Florida and Michigan delegates and by the existence of superdelegates to the weight of 20% of the total vote, the DNC under Howard Dean has literally selected their party's candidate over the will of the Democrat populace, evidenced by the total popular vote.

"A Rep can win a state with only a 1% lead and cancel out every vote not made for them, while the Dems count every vote."
Your knowledge of the Republican process is only partial. Here's how it works (I once was a Republican precinct delegate and a delegate at the 2000 state convention where the national convention delegates are chosen):
Yes, a simple majority means those delegates nominated from a state are bound to vote for the candidate winning that state's primary -- BUT only on the first ballot. If no clear winner is decided on the first ballot -- as happened during the 2000 Republican national convention -- delegates are free to vote for whomever they please on each successive ballot.
I'll take that over the BS Dem boondoggle created by unaffiliated "superdelegates" and parceling out delegates within states any day.

When we elect a president the nation wide popular vote doesn't count either. Either way, I think the next President will not be John McSame. Also, I suspect that many dittoheads crossed over and voted for Hillary because that is the candidate they think McSame has the best chance against. Too bad so sad, on to Novermber.

Of course you do, and McCain would also like the Dems to hold off on a choice even longer too, I wonder why?
The SD's are not bound to pledge their vote at any specific time, so they are not stepping over their bounds by pledging before the convention, as most already have.

More Republican Hypocrisy:
Hillary won the popular vote but lost the election and the republicans are saying she got screwed. Does the Gore/Bush Presidential Election of 2000 count?
"How Many Rights Are Democrats Willing to Forfeit?" We're just trying to RE-GAIN what the facist and poorly named Patriot Act took away. Our rights were "Forfeited" during the Bush Administration.

No, Hillary said that SHE got screwed. Republicans aren't involved in the Democratic primaries.
"Does the Gore/Bush Presidential Election of 2000 count?"
No, because the presidency is decided by the Electoral College, not by popular vote.
